Ive had several laptops over the past few years. The one I have liked more than all of the others combined was a Vaio.

If Cal Ripken can do it obviously anybody can

I think the fact that its an individual achievement in a team sport and that it was set as such a high bench mark is what gave it its mystique. When Emmitt Smith broke Paytons record it was considered one of the bigger sports achievements but nobody would be able to break it without a good line, fullback etc. This record was special because its just the batter and the pitcher out there and you can do it no matter how bad everyone else on your team is.

David Blaine is gonna sue the s*** out of these guys!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) I don't know if this is a comment on Bonds, Selig, the game itself, or what...but here's my thoughts. Last night, during the Colbert Report, I tuned in to ESPN2 during a commercial break and saw Bonds up to bat. I decided I'd rather not see it if anything happened. I literally turned the TV away from the Giants game during the at bat where he broke the record. I grew up a fan of baseball. Loved it when ESPN used to show the replays of the old black & white home run derby's from the 60's. Knew the record books quite well. Saw the clip of Aaron more times than I can count. And yet, I had absolutely no urge to either watch the greatest record in the sport be broken or to hear anything about it afterwards. I hate this. All of it. This should be something I would enjoy. Love. Etc. F***ing cheaters and their enablers. Very well written. This is basically how I feel and I am glad it is over but to me its sad that I had no interest in what was supposed to be the greatest sports record being broken. Maybe I dont care as much because I think ARod will break it but when something of this magnitude happens and people that have been fans of the sport as a whole for most of their lives would rather watch commercials or nothing than this being broken it tells you something.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 6, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) Remember moving in my first year at SIU. Lived on the 4th floor and had no elevator. Lots of carrying stuff up, obviously. Ended up moving out a month later cuz my roomate was a dick. University Park or Thompson Point? My first day there I was 106 Allen 2 so I was on the first floor right next to the entrance. I got lucky with a random room mate and ended up becoming friends with him and pledging together.

I rented Black Snake Moan recently and I really disliked it. It as slow and rather boring.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 07:59 PM) I would pass on her. Girls don't have to be gorgeous for me to like them. Kimberly Stewart is dumb. I'm not attracted to dumb. I used to think your way a few years ago. Odd, I think dumb is one the things Im most attracted to. At least thats what past experience has told me.

How can you tell if a girl is uninterested or just playing hard to get
DrunkBomber replied to WhiteSoxFan1's topic in SLaM
Well, based on what happened the last time you were in this predicament I think its fairly obvious to most here that youre not going to listen to anyone here. It seems you are just hoping somebody will tell you to chase her so you feel justified. Younger girls like this are simply playing games and like a challenge. If this girl knows she has all the power with you she is going to lose interest. Since it appears that anytime she text or calls you that youre gonna blush and giggle and text her right back (45 minutes is quick enough) If you want a chance with this girl, which you shouldnt, make her feel like she should be chasing you. Act completely aloof when you talk to her like youre not interested in what shes saying. if she texts you, dont text her back until the next day and just respond by saying you were busy. The only chance you have of pulling this off is if you can get her to wonder why you seem so standoffish and it intrigues her, like you suddenly became a challenge. If that doesnt work here is some other ideas: Become rich or at least get a high profile job Give her tequila Ask one of her friends to go out on a date with you Tell her you are an active member in PETA Go to a car dealership and test drive a nice car (at least 50k) and drive around her neighborhood till she sees you and throw her a westside Refer to yourself in the third person and if anyone questions your motives for doing so introduce them to your pimp hand Find the most promiscuous girl in town and bring her to a party where shell be attending Where an eyepatch the next time you see her and when she asks you what happened tell her the first rule of what happened is you cant tell her what happened Tell her your dad is Steve Forbes Ill think of more later, one of these is bound to work though -
Heres a list of the drugs Bonds has "allegedly" taken since '98 Winstrol- Stanozolol is liked by many due to the fact it causes strength increases without excess weight-gain Deca-durabolin- The positive effects of the drug include muscle growth, appetite stimulation and increased red blood cell production and bone density. Nandrolone is also extensively used by bodybuilders and other athletes seeking an edge in professional competition. Human growth hormone- most of you know what this is and does, along the lines of healing you faster and making your muscles gro quickly, if you dont you can google it and hundreds of sites come up. Norbelethone ("The Clear")- Anecdotal sources and some unpublished SAR studies report that the potency of the drug is outstanding, surpassing, on a milligram per milligram basis, every known synthesized or commercial available anabolic steroid. It was the drug of choice for safe and "invisible" world record breaking in athletics. Tetrahydrogestrinone ("The Cream")- is basically is high levels of testosterone rubbed on your muscles Now, being that these "hinder" performance makes me wonder why theyre called performance "enhancing" drugs.
-
Actual anabolic steroids could "hinder" and use the word hinder very lightly. How come nobody is talking about HGH and the stuff from balco. The clear he was taking from balco improved eye sight, hand eye coordination amongst other things. Also, HGH repairs injuries quicker strengthens tendons etc. Now, he has been caught taken these designer drugs from balco and not necessarily anabolic steroids and anyone that completely rules out him taking other things like HGH is in denial. These things make you better, period. Shadows, what is the basis for your expertise on the subject? Have you taken steroids? You sound like youre trying to defend it.
-
I didnt read this whole thread, but did anyone else here mention that the guy who gave up 755 tested positive for steroids when he was in the minors? I just heard that on Mike and Mike and thought it was interesting.

I thought it was pretty funny how they switched stereotypes of men and woman with Brett and Lisa and she was just using him for sex.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 04:34 PM) But he also seems like he has so much fun playing the game too. If his body holds up, might he just keep doing it because he likes it? Think about Maddux, what else does he have to prove or to earn? He could have retired 3 years a go a guaranteed HOF with loaded bank accounts, but it sure seems like he enjoys getting his butt out on the mound. Maddux just likes pissing on rookies in the shower and anywhere else you do that youre looking at a lawsuit

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 03:03 PM) I would like to add for consideration, Allison Stokke female pole vaulter. Theres something about a girl holding a huge poll in her hand that makes you love track and field

I think its going to be hard for him to get anything higher that 12-13 wins a year in the upcoming seasons. Unless we go nuts in free agency.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) I always liked him as a Bear, the trio of Holdman, Urlacher, and Colvin is arguably better than the trio we have now.. Well Urlacher is pretty much irrelevant, but Briggs and HH IMO are much better than Colvin and Holdman. Holdman actually isnt even really good, he hasnt done anything since he left Chicago for Cleveland. As far as Colvin, he was a good pass rusher but over pursued the run too much and was terrible in pass coverage, he relied on Urlachers athleticism to bail him out on numerous occasions. His career in New England has been nothing special. HH isnt a gamebreaker but he doesnt make mistakes and is an inexpensive, solid contributing member of the defense, and Briggs, despite off the field contract issues, has been a monster and a great all around linebacker.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 4, 2007 -> 04:42 PM) this guy and people like him use the "I'm so and so's kid.." to death. guaranteed. Lord knows I would. Think of all that free cocaine! Hes kind of a big deal, people know him
-
Why does this guy need a body guard? I doubt theres more than 10 people in the world who know who he is and even less that would care. Unless hes just a punk that gets in tons of fights and since his dad is rich he just got one to protect his mouth.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) Damn. That is about as painful of an injury as you can have. Ya, Achilles injuries are brutal. I tore mine and I would have a hard time playing any high impact sports.

Bet theyre regretting not keeping the pick and taking Tyson Chandler now!

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Help! I was talking to my uncle down in Southern Illinois and he asked me about the Bears. I told him they should be top 3 in the NFC, possible best in the NFC and he went off on me saying that the Bears didn't get better after the Super Bowl. I brought up Darwin Walker and the drafting of Greg Olsen and he never heard of them. He thinks Stephen Jackson will be the MVP this year. The Rams fans down here are drooling over Orlando Pace losing a bunch of weight and Bulger being re-signed. Since the Super Bowl... Tommie Harris, Mike Brown and Dusty Dvoracek have returned from injury We traded for Archuleta and Darwin Walker We signed Anthony Adams We locked up both our corners long term Hester has been moved to offense and from the buzz hes getting in training camp he might actually be a significant boost to the offense Berrian and Bradley have another year under their belts and Berrian has become a legitimate receiver We drafted Greg Olsen who was head and shoulders better then every other tight end in the draft and hes looked good at camp so far The only defensive starter lost is Tank Johnson who had become a negative distraction anyway and with the return of Dusty and Tommie and acquiring of Adams and Walker we are much better at DT this year. Grossman has his first full season under his belt and is reported to have been working on his weaknesses all offseason the biggest hit we had as losing Thomas Jones. Benson wanted it and he got it and now he needs to perform but we still have AP and drafted Garrett Wolf which gives us a diverse group of backs. Also a lot of the younger guys on defense have more experience under their belt, guys like D. Manning, C. Harris and Hillenmeyer. Tell him that Oh ya, we also play in the NFC North
