  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) I don't know. Considering he had an ERA under 4 this game (which should still be under 4), and the fact that we score ZERO runs for the guy for the most part, I'd say he's pitched pretty well in one run games. His wins are 2-1, 5-3, 2-1, 7-2, and 1-0. The ONLY way he's been able to get runs is to completely shut down the other team for the most part. Problem is he always seems to make that 1 mistake that costs him the W, call it bad luck or whatever, either way, he doesn't get W's.
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:14 PM) I call it irony. The guys sucks all of last year, having offenses carry him to a winning record. This year he pitches well for the most part, and he can't win. Things just even out. Well, IMO, JC is a 5th starter right now, problem is we already have El Duque for that. JC should be kissing Garland's ass everyday, for helping cover up his inability to get W's.
  3. It seems to me that JC is a guy who doesn't pitch as well in close games. We need to find a way to get this guy early leads. Unfortunately this team has been unable to do that. Hence a 5-5 mark for JC
  4. Well at least we have worked Bonderman somewhat, hopefully we can get in there pen by the 7th again.
  5. You can't keep blowing opportunities against guys like this. CMON FRANK!!
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:57 PM) Pods is the only one on the Sox who doesn't K on that pitch by Bonderman. Frank too, maybe. Why couldn't Pods lay a bunt down there
  7. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:49 PM) Posters like YASNY have long said we need a Lefty power hitter in the lineup. A guy like Brian Giles who IIRC may be a free agent this off-season would be a good target. Don't be surprised if we don't resign PK, then KW goes after a LH 1st baseman, or Right fielder, and moves Dye to 1st. Of course if we win th WS, who knows
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) The Giants would love to trade for a pitcher who might be over 40 years old. That's Sabean's dream player. The Giants might bite on that deal. I'd do it.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Bonderman seems pretty sharp tonight. We're in for an uphill battle now, going to need to hope for another big rally inning. UGH!
  10. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) That's what's wrong with Contreras. Guy strikes out 4 of the first 5 guys he sees, somehow gives up a 3-run homer. and on a 1-2 count!! JC is our version of Kerry Wood. Not to mention not picking up Crede.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Iguchi has been too damn good in the 2nd spot. Too damn good. I agree, but Rowand was great there last year as well. I think Iguchi has more power than he has shown so far, being in the #2 hole has limited his opportunities to hit Hr's. I believe he could easily hit 20-25 hrs a year. BTW JC gives up a 3-run bomb!!!!!
  12. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) second night in a row frank's left a guy on third with one out. He's not a #3 hitter anymore. I agree. He is a #4 hitter, but then again we really don't have a #3 hitter. I thought Rowand could have hit 3rd, but he hasn't performed as well as he did last year yet. Iguchi is another possibility, but we don't have a #2 type hitter to replace him. I doubt Ozzie would change the lineup right now, but i think this one would be a bit better....Pods, Rowand, Iguchi, Frank, Pk, Dye, AJ, Crede, Uribe.
  13. We need to get to Bonderman early, before he settles in.
  14. JC looks good so far, attacking the hitters like he should be.
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) Crede and Uribe homering back to back, who would have seen that coming? Actually it seems like thats' all they try to do is hit homers. Nice to see them connect ona couple tonite
  16. Dye doubles, we need to drive him in here dammit!!
  17. PK goes deep, too bad it was only solo shot. 4-2 now
  18. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) That was one game. Data? Huh well. The Cub and A's series. Big crowds. Looked bad. Thats all the data I can think of at this second. Well we did sweep the Dodgers though, barely, and we split w/ the Orioles. I think some of it has to do with the fact that the other teams are pumped up when they come in here w/ a big crowd. It seems like the Sox are a little to lax or something.
  19. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) I'm a little nervous, we've got some good pitching matchups the next few days. Well we are definitely going to need Contreras, Garcia, Buehrle and Garland to keep it going
  20. I had a feeling we might lose this one, Douglass has been very tough on righties, and El Duque was probably not going to be very sharp. Hopefully we can mount some kind of comeback to at least make it interesting
  21. QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) Cough..Cough...Omar and Schmidt...cough..cough Sounds great to me!
