QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Maggs is swinging a hot stick right now, Dmitry sucks, I'll take my chances with him. Believe me, i don't want Maggs hitting either, but it looked like Dmitri was on Freddy last ab.

PHEW!! Alright boys time for a Rally!!!
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) Just put maggs on here. Dmitri's on deck, and he just missed a homer last ab. I'll take my chances w/ Maggs.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:17 PM) Carl pops out on ball 4. :banghead Top 5; 2-1 UGH This offense has looked pathetic of late, besides that 5 run outburst in the 7th on Monday.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) it would really suck if this game got called. its official. not till the 5th

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) I just read over my Sports Weekly and it states that "The White Sox are willing to give up pitching prospect Brandon McCarthy in a trade for the Marlins' A.J. Burnett, but they won't surrender him in a deal for Giants starter Jason Schmidt. The White Sox will move Triple-A outfielder Brian Anderson for Jason Schmidt." I think JR doesn't want the contracts of both JC and Schmidt, so if we do get Schmidt, look for JC to be moved. IF we could trade McCarthy straight up for Burnett, and keep JC as insurance for El Duque, that would be Awesome!

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) Told you so. I don't think the O's need Burnett more than they need Bullpen help
-
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Why do i envision the twins not losing this one? Anytime a game is within a run either way they scare the s*** out of me. And Jones hits a game winning Dong in the bottom of the 9th
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) three pitches in the exact same place. He looked pathetic, Cruds lucked out getting rid of him
-
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Miguel Tejada on second with 2 outs, Nathan elects not to pitch to Palmeiro to get to Sosa. Veddy Veddy Eeentedesting. And Shamme Whiffs
-
Tejada just missed hitting a go ahead homerun off Nathan in the top of the 9th, he's on 2nd w/ a double, 2 outs.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Min 2 Bal 2 Bot 8th Now top of 9th, still 2-2
-
Our offense needs to get a little heated up before Boston comes in here, especially w/ JC and the Duke going.
-
QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) Maggs is hitting like .800 this series. It's ridiculous, can we trade Pk straight up for him, and move Dye to 1st

Nasty slider K's Shelton

Freddy needs to stop f***ing around, and attack these schmucks!

GAME THREAD 7-19-05 SOX vs Tigers

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) That's the problem, you're just looking at the wins. That doesn't make a good pitcher. Jake Peavy has won 2 less games than Gil Meche but has an ERA of 1.69 less than Meche. Does that make Meche a better pitcher because he has 2 more wins? My point is he is OUR 5th starter. Plain and simple. On a lot of teams he could be there #1 starter, or 2 or 3. I guarantee if we make the playoffs, JC won't even start 1 game, especially if El Duque is healthy. -

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) So if a guy had an ERA say of about .5 to 1 above Contreras (say Gil Meche) but had 3 or 4 more wins, would he be more of a #3 starter than Contreras? I guess what I'm trying to say is that i don't feel comfortable about our chances when he pitches, so therefore in my eyes he's our 5th starter. I'm just looking at the W's. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) But that's what I'm saying. A record means absolutely nothing. He gets NO run support. It's hard to win games when you offense scores no runs for you. He can't control that the offense won't score for him. You were kidding right. I understand he hasn't had much luck from the offense, but he still needs to find a way to get W's. I certainly don't think he is a 5th starter, but for some reason when he pitches we don't win as much, which to me is bad luck. Therefore JC is Bad luck, I guess. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) You're kidding right. If Jose had the run support that Garland has gotten this year he'd have double digit wins easily. The guy has given up 2 ER or less in 11 of his 18 starts this year. THat's incredible. His record indicates he is a 5th starter. He obvioulsy has #1 starter stuff, but for some reason he doesn't get the W's. Similar to Wood on the Cruds.
