  1. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) 3 20 Game Winners! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 3 would be even better
  2. wouldn't it be great to have two 20 game winners???
  3. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) i would hve Contreas pitch every game. But thats just me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was, quite obviously, supposed to be in green
  4. Dont know how I got Detroit in there but anyway............. I think that I was a little unclear when I started this post. I am not complaining that we dont get all the hype that these proven team get. They have been there they deserve it. I just dont see how we dont get any exposure. We have had the best record in BASEBALL the entire season. Doesnt that mean anything? Everytime I watch SportsCenter we get a 20sec spot before a commercial break. Yesterday Garland won his, Major League leading, 16th game and all I heard about on the radio was DW's 15th win. I dont expect the Sox to be catagorized with the likes of the Yanks, Boston, and Oakland, I would just like a little congratulatory gesture for the accomplishments they have made, despite the fact that they had such low expectations from everybody else.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) No.. it wouldn't be that hard. And it's got nothing to do with being anyone's b****... Oakland has been a better team than us in the past several years. It's clear why they are looked at more seriously. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No you're right it wouldnt be that hard.........it would be IMPOSSIBLE if the Sox ONLY go .500 from here, Cleveland would have to go 38-12 the rest of the way. Good luck if they could pull that one off
  6. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) Us being their b**** is exactly why we should hope they stay hot, so we'd face them in the ALCS and not the Divisional Series. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Am I the only one that thinks that it would be a better idea to face them in the first round?? I would think that they would step it up another notch in the LCS, that maybe we could catch them off guard early on.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:45 AM) Oakland has a history of turning it on in the second half.. and the Sox have a history of choking in the second half. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I realize that but it would be awfully hard to choke away a 13 game lead plus i guess it doesn't help that we are the A's b****
  8. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) How many times have the A's won 90+ games from 2001-2004 How many times have the Sox won 90+ games from 2001-2004 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok what does that have to do with 2005???
  9. Why is it that that when the Sox jumped off to their great start they were dismissed as a fluke and everybody said that they would fizzle out eventually. And now that the A's are on a tear everybody is saying they are the team to beat in the West. They sucked ass for the first three months of the season why wont they fizzle? No team can stay as hot as the A's are now for an extended period of time yet everyone is jumping on their proverbial nuts. Yet the Sox have been in front from the gun, and still they are getting no recognition. If the roles had been reversed and the Sox were the ones on a tear to take over their division lead would they be getting the same kind of respect that the A's are getting right now?? I say not where's the justice
  10. THE 2005 AMERICAN LEAGUE CO-CY YOUNG WINNER IS...... JOHN GARLAND/MARK BUEHRLE END OF DISCUSSION
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Right when Rowand got knocked out, I immediately thought of that commercial. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WIN OR DIE TRYING!
  12. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) I think were flat because our team is playing small ball in a long ball park seriosly we only struggle at home. It also could be that there not used to playing in the huge crowds we are getting now a days. Last Pods needs to heat up right away 1 time on base each game in 2 out situations in not cutting it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wrong. 11 of our last 13 runs have been via the long ball and what has that gotten us? Losses. The team has been hot all year, and now is going through a funk, which every team does at least once a year. Be glad it is now and not in October.
  13. QUOTE(bkmoney @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/fan_foru...evy/df_vote.jsp this is pretty retarded. the "fastests players" but the allstar and MLB leader in steals isn't on there? come on <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wait until we win, next year they will be all over Pods' nuts
  14. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) here is a pic of konerko's wife: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At least you know they married for love!
  15. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 08:55 AM) He's made 7 errors all season, I don't that his errors have added up to that many runs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can think of 5 runs he's given up in the past couple weeks alone. Not to mention the GAME that he gift wrapped for Boston.
  16. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) I think Ozzie has been doing some very odd things with his bullpen lately. Today was a good example. First, going to the bullpen to start the 6th in a 1-run game was the right thing. Contreras was above 100 pitches, but barely escaped with the lead in the 5th. Second, why was Cotts the 6th inning choice? The way I rank the bullpen, from the 9th inning backward, is Hermanson, Politte, Cotts, Vizcaino/Marte, Jenks, Adkins. Instead, Ozzie seems to value Vizcaino and Marte more highly than Cotts and Politte, which, based on performance, is absurd. In the 6th, with the bottom of Toronto's lineup up, why didn't Vizcaino/Marte get chosen, with either one allowed to finish the inning if they were getting guys out? Then you have Cotts 7th, Politte 8th, Hermanson 9th. Third, why was Cotts yanked after getting two outs? Why was Politte yanked after getting two outs? The result was that Politte had to stradle two innings, as did Marte. Why not treat each Cotts, Politte, and Hermanson as 1-inning closers for the inning they are given? Cotts gets righties out better than lefties, so that shouldn't be a reason to sit him. I'm glad we won the game. But I sure would like Ozzie to manage his bullpen better. This will be his most important task in the postseason, and how he handles it may make all the difference between first round losers and World Series champions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. Had Gooch not hit that homerun and we had to go a few more innings we would have been screwed!!
  17. QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Uh, redandwhite, if the BoSox were in the AL Central, they'd be 8 games behind the White Sox. So until the Red Sox win another 8 in a row coupled with an 8 game White Sox skid, my vote goes to the White Sox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats assuming that the White Sox wouldve manhandled them like they have the rest of the Central up to this point. B cuz they would have played the BoSox more than just four times so far IF they were in the Central.
  18. Im assuming that means that you are to park in either of the Red or Green lots which are the lots directly across the street from the Park(35th)
  19. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) you have to love it when the announcer is just as pissed and into the game as the fan <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It gives me the chills
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) but for the most part yes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not for the most part either. the majority of people do not experience the drastic body changes that Palmeiro, McGwire, Sosa, and Giambi quite obviously went through
  21. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) Could someone post a pic of Minor League Frank Thomas and Current Frank Thomas? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Frank has always been big
  22. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 08:49 PM) I've always thought that he's connected with the fans quite well. I really haven't met anyone that's a fan that think he's a jackass or pompous idiot. His refusal to really deal with the media is what made the media turn him into a "bad guy." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I may be wrong, but I dont ever recall Frank being booed at The Cell/Comiskey. Everytime i've been there he has gotten a great reception, and even his first game back this year he got the standing O. I don't know where they come up with "he hasn't connected with the fans"
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) And if they go 9-6, that's pretty damn good in the dog days of August. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I know thats pretty good. I was originally thinking 8-7 but the way they have been playing all year they could just do 10-5 , 11-4. But thats just my biased opinion. So I went with what I thought was realistic hopefully they prove me wrong
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) The Yankees are exactly the example of why I don't want a guy like that and why I do care how we win. I don't want to win by being like the Yankees. I just like a little honor and dignity in the way my teams win...instead of going out and buying the most juiced-up player available. Anywho, I actually doubt either team would sign him...both teams are loaded with 1b/DH players. (Olerud, Millar, Ortiz, Giambi, Martinez) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree. I wouldnt want him either. Just another area the media could attack my beloved team.
  25. QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) Not that im saying Raf or Giambi didn't take steroids. But when you get older, you get bigger. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> not necessarily
