  1. QUOTE(WHITESOXRANDY @ Jun 13, 2007 -> 09:58 AM) I only have one piece of advice for the Sox in 2008: GO YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG YOUNG and YOUNG I might sign Rowand but that's it. Rebuild it right. Why would sign Rowand then ? A bouquet to the fans ?
  2. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 09:05 PM) you better believe Uribe would but cut loose as well. no first pitch hackers on this squad. atleast no Uribe. that's all i care about. that slacker has to go. he is a colorado rockies throw away player. you know he is subpar just by that alone. Finally, you said something that makes sense.
  3. QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:52 PM) where did you get those #'s? again, all you guys do is criticize. thanks for sharing your great ideas/sarcasm. Hunter is easily better than any hitter on our squad. look at the #'s. northsidepolish17, don't get offended because you've been continually owned by the new poster. just deal with it, ace. Signing Hunter at $13+ might look ok for a season or two, but he's going to be in his mid-30's halfway through a contract like that. Not a good idea.
  4. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 08:38 PM) Luis Terrero has been someone that I have dogged. But he is producing at a decent clip in the CF position. If he can stay 265 to 275 ish with that kind of power, he could be the guy. I'll give Terrero credit. He has actually done a solid/good job when he's been in there, and right now he should be in there every day. Saying that, it's funny to hear DJ call him a dangerous hitter. We get 3 runs tonight, all on solo HR's.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 07:32 PM) I don't think anyone can. They are all too dumbfounded to even respond. Not defending it, only thing I can possibly think is that Fields has some injury that they took him out for. Clearly, there's no strategy in bringing in Alex Cintron.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 12, 2007 -> 07:28 PM) This has to be the least upset I've ever been during a Sox debacle. Deep down in my heart, I know it's for the best if they keep losing for a while. Last night was the first time in at least 5 years I didn't bother watching a single highlight of a Sox game I missed. That's kind of how I feel right now. I've come to expect bad things to happen. Tonight, they start the game hitting (that lasted all of one inning), and then the starting pitching stinks. I guess it's hard to get upset when your expectations are so low.
  7. Gentlemen, I know we all love the Sox, but at some point, when do we stop being upset and just accept reality that we don't have a good team this season. When does Kenny pull the plug ?
  8. Finally, the double switch! Yes! This should turn things around.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) The offense sucks, but Eaton has thrown a few good games this season. Against the Mets, he's been great. He's been bad at home this season....
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:55 PM) He's the highest paid pitcher in White Sox history. And ???
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:50 PM) He's got such a losing mentality. He pitches just well enough to lose. He's the opposite of guys like Garcia or Pettitte, etc. Correction - Vazquez is not awesome. He has very good starts, and starts, not so good. He's a 3rd or 4th starter.
  12. Look at this lineup. AJ batting 3rd.... Mackowiak leading off... Uribe batting 6th... Dye can't hit.... Luis Terrero in CF..... It's just a bad lineup.

  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) Lets see if Dye can get his head out of his ass and hit the ball with men on. Don't get your hopes up. I see a 6-4-3 DP
  15. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) Buerhle isn't going to take a 3 or 4 year contract IMO. Think 5-7 years with big money. The Sox don't go that long with pitchers. It really is a pretty good policy. I know you are correct. If he hits free agency, I don't see any chance of him coming back given the teams that will give 5, 6 and maybe even 7 years with at least the same $$$ the White Sox would be offereing. It is a good policy, and they've had some of their inhouse guys, like Vazquez, Garland and Contreras (not free agents) willing to take the 3 year extensions....I'm holding out slim hope that maybe he'd take a 3 or 4 year deal....Unrealstic I know, but I don't have much else to hold onto this baseball season.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:25 PM) He better not even think about making a big move to help this team. And BTW, the reports on Erstad aren't promising. It went from him being sure he could return after 15 days to him saying that he's not sure how long he'll be out. He's a tough dude, but that's a painful injury and something he's going to tweak a few more times this year. Sutcliffe said he talked to him, and that Erstad hopes to play by the end of the week...not that it will help. As far as making a move, I agree with you. Trading for Adam Dunn is going to do what exactly ? If we stink, fine. It sucks, but I want Williams doing what he can to strengthen next year's team. Erin Andrews is amazing.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) They aren't going to catch Cleveland and they have a few teams to jump over for the wildcard. I don't think they can win unless a miracle happens and the bullpen can get someone out. I have a feeling KW is not going to want to admit failure however. Buerhle should bring a nice package. Dye could bring something back as well and save money. They actually would have more money to throw at Buerhle this offseason the sooner they deal him. If he's serious about being here that is. I wonder how its going to go over on this board when he signs with the Cardinals and at his introductory press conference says St. Louis is the place he always wanted to be. I hope we can still work out a 3 or 4 year deal for Buerhle. If we don't keep the one strength on our team, starting pitching, we are not going to be competitive in the AL Central. I would hope that they would try again before they decide to move him. I know he can get us back nice prospects, or players on the verge of the majors, but we're not going to win anything with kids in our rotation in the AL.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) Two weeks is my prediction. If the Cubs kick our ass, then you'll hear everyone saying we're done. I don't know that Williams can wait that long to make a move - IF he intent on helping the team this season. Cleveland and Detroit are just too good to hope the current situation improves....Oh wait, I forgot D.Erstad is coming back! QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) Two weeks is my prediction. 19. Should we be surprised...1st and 2nd nobody out...1st and 2nd, 2 outs.
  20. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:06 PM) uh oh, that should be enough insurance for Cy Eaton Yeah...this is the equivalent to a 6-0 lead to most teams in the league.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) It's sad that 1 hit through 4 innings against a pitcher with a 6 ERA isn't upsetting anymore. Not being able to use Thome and Konerko in the same lineup makes a terrible lineup even worse. But hey, at least Greg Walker deserves none of the blame. As Farmer says "when this team starts hitting, they won't stop". I just turned on the radio, and those guys were just talking about how good Eaton looks....I'm sick of hearing how the other pitcher is just good that night while our hitters get one hit through 4 innings. I'd be upset about their performance tonight against Eaton if I wasn't used to it.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) Fontenot is a nice, scrappy little hitter. He's the exact type of middle infielder we've lacked in our system that can come up and hit a little if needed. I'm pretty sure he's the last remaining piece of the Sosa deal. And yes I watched the game, and my love for Willie Harris grows more and more. Willie Harris played really well in that series.
  23. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) It's looking pretty certain that tonight's game is gonna be homer ball. Whoever hits the most solo bombs wins and we need to get at least 2, perferably 4 or 5. What makes you say that ? We're going to the 4th, and the White Sox have yet to score a run.
  24. It's apparent that unless the White Sox are hitting Home runs, they can't scratch out runs. Unfortunately, the don't go on home run hitting spree's anymore so it looks like the crappy Adam Eaton is on his way to a dominating performance over the beloved White Sox. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 06:29 PM) I like how the ESPN guys mention Fields played SS in Charlotte like it's relevant to anything. Yeah, he played there for 1 game because of an emergency....that's just reading the media information they make available. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 11, 2007 -> 06:45 PM) Anyone get the feeling that it doesn't matter if a pitcher has a 2 ERA coming into the game vs the Sox or a 22 ERA? This team just makes getting runners and scoring runs seem very difficult. If the Sox can't start playing better and actually winning more games than they lose after the next two weeks, then the fire sale needs to begin. Yep....that sums it up pretty well.
  25. QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) 1 bad game for fields in 2007 and the criticizing starts already Um....no. Perhaps this is too big picture for you, but it looks fairly obvious that the future of this team is going to involve Josh Fields at 3B, Ryan Sweeney in the OF (along with Anderson/Owens possibly), and several young pitchers. Are you telling me that you believe all of our prosepcts are going to work out ????? I'm simply wondering if there's a younger player that you think is going to live up to the hype, and a player that won't.
