QUOTE(Soxy @ Aug 22, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) What a little cutie pie! Have you decided what she's going to call you? If her other "grama" has anything to do with it, it will probably be something along the lines of "that b**** whore skank douche bag"... though I'm just rooting for something simple like "Steff" Here's another at about 6 hours old.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Congrats Grandma LOL.. I wonder what the WR is for youngest grama. Here's the little cutie. She looks like a little sumo wrestler here.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060821/ap_on_...y_little_league 6-foot-8 Little Leaguer towers over foes By GENARO C. ARMAS, Associated Press Writer Mon Aug 21, 1:31 AM ET SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Aaron Durley towers over the competition at the Little League World Series. The 13-year-old first baseman for Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, stands an imposing 6-foot-8 and weighs 256 pounds. "I was standing next to him and I was up to his elbows," Scott Kingery, a 12-year-old, 4-foot-9 Phoenix shortstop, said after meeting Durley. At the secluded dorms where teams stay during the tournament, Durley has become as much of an attraction as the pool, the pingpong table and the video arcade. The soft-spoken Durley doesn't mind the attention. He even lets opponents snap pictures with him during down time. But Durley, who played at the series last year, too — when he was a mere 6-foot-4 — is crystal-clear about his top priority in South Williamsport. "I'm more confident this year, ready to do what I need to do," Durley said after a practice. "Hit the ball out." Fittingly, his favorite major leaguer is David "Big Papi" Ortiz, the Boston Red Sox slugger. Durley, batting fifth, didn't hit a homer, but he walked twice, singled and scored a run Sunday when his Arabian American squad from Dhahran defeated Saipan, 9-1. Saudi Arabia (2-0) stands a good chance of advancing out of pool play after failing to win a game last year. Also Sunday, two players were hurt during the game between Lemont, Ill., and Staten Island, N.Y., and taken to Williamsport Hospital. Lemont outfielder Austin Mastela was hit by a pitch in the helmet in the second and had bleeding and swelling near the back of his ear, manager Mike Hall said. Staten Island shortstop Chris Goetz hurt his right leg after being called out at home while trying to score on an attempted squeeze play. Both players had been treated and released, a nursing supervisor said early Monday. Lemont won 1-0 after a frantic finish.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060819/od_nm/india_operation_dc Sat Aug 19, 10:10 AM ET NEW DELHI (Reuters) - An Indian businessman born with two penises wants one of them removed surgically as he wants to marry and lead a normal sexual life, a newspaper report said Saturday. The 24-year-old man from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh admitted himself to a New Delhi hospital this week with an extremely rare medical condition called penile duplication or diphallus, the Times of India said. "Two fully functional penes is unheard of even in medical literature. In the more common form of diphallus, one organ is rudimentary," the newspaper quoted a surgeon as saying. The surgery was expected to be challenging as both organs were well-formed and full blood supply to the retained penis had to be ensured to allow it to function normally, he added. The newspaper did not disclose the identity of the man or the hospital to protect the patient's privacy. There are about 100 such reported cases of diphallus around the world and it is known to occur among one in 5.5 million men, the newspaper said. It is caused by the failure of the mesodermal bands in the embryo to fuse properly. The mesodermal bands are one of three primary layers of the embryo from which several body parts are formed.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 12:37 PM) I wouldn't mind barkley if not for his tendency to spit on little girls and throw people through windows... Hey.. a guys gotta get street cred somehow.. For the record, I don't care about what he does in his personal life. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 10:39 AM) Thanks for answering the analogy; that puts things into perspective for me. I feel I just put less emphasis on what they do outside of their sport, as I consider them my favorite athletes and not my favorite people. However, Tiger would have a hard time acknowledging the crowd when they're saying he has a nice shot. Golf crowds have completely changed since he's come on the scene 10 years ago. No matter what he kind of shot he makes you'll always hear "GET IN THE HOLE! YOU DA MAN TIGERRRRR! GREAT SHOT!" After a while you're just going to block that out. His father taught him to block distractions like that out at an early age. When he was little, his dad would try interrupting his swing by making noises, throwing keys, etc. at him during a shot. He's really just doing what he was taught. Good discussion. I'm on my way back to Bloomington in a matter of hours, so I probably won't get to see anything after this until sometime tomorrow afternoon when cable gets hooked up again at the apartment. Valid points from all angles that's for sure. Travel safe. Good luck with the cable guy. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 10:46 AM) I went to St. Andrews for the British Open in 2000. If you saw what I saw you would conclude Phil Mickleson is easily one of the top 5 dicks on tour. I went to a practice round and 2 days of the tournament. During the practice round, all these guys hit about 5 balls every shot and at least that day were all goofing around with each other, signing autographs and taking pictures with the fans. All except Phil. He was goofing around hitting trick shots and such, but when it came to autographs or even acknowledging the crowd, Phil refused to participate. I witnessed one incident when 5 little kids asked him for an autograph, he waved them off and said he had work to do. David Toms who was with him, took 5 balls out of his bag, actually his caddie did, signed them and gave them to the kids while Phil screwed around with a couple of other players. Good grief... I suppose everyone has a bad story about someone. Hell, while in spring training this year I saw Jim Thome completely ignore a little boy who was begging for his autograph and made him cry - that bastard :rolly.

QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) Except that you said you don't like Jordan's fakeness, specifically concerning his family. If you don't like him because of personal experience then that's fine, I just don't get the fakeness arguement. I did not refer to his fakeness with his family, personal, and professional life - as his cheating on his wife and his gambling causing personal, and professional difficulties are factually documented. I was responding to greasy's analogy comparing Barkley. And I never said I didn't like Jordan.
-
QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:39 AM) Supposedly people around golf regard Phil as the most fake guy out there. That the whole family is an act to make people like him, and that he is very self centered. I know this has nothing to with Woods, but this has been said about him many times, not just on the radio, but also in Golf magazines...which I then hear all about from my Dad. Which if I am not mistaken, is the name of the game, is it not? To be friendly to those that support you versus being a jag who doesn't have the time of day to even respond to a compliment of "nice shot"? I don't care what Phil is, but I've never had a bad fan experience with him and had several with Woods.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 09:15 AM) Fair enough. Just to put this all in perspective for me, what's your opinion of Michael Jordan? Because a basketball analogy of the two players, Tiger reminds me so much of Jordan and Mickelson of Barkley. Professionally his talent was awesome. His people skills with the media were even better than his game on the court. His skills with fans in front of a camera were fantastic, away from the camera he was a mf'er. He cheated and abused his marriage, gambled to speculation that his father was murdered because of it, and still walks around like his s*** doesn't stink. Not his fault.. people never call on him to take responsibility so he never does, IMO. I'd take Barkley's honesty over Jordan's fakeness anyday.

I was addressing his on course actions. If you can get out to an event, do so and you'll see what a prick he is to the fans that spend hours upon hours sitting and waiting for the opportunity to see him for 8 minutes. I don't care what he does off the course for charity. If I did, I'd likely like him more. As for Phil, I'm sure he's not happy after a DB, but at least he isn't a dick to the fans, and knows that there is more to life than spending hours upon hours away from his family practicing his swing. His ability is what it is and if he wins, he wins, and if he doesn't, he doesn't. IMO, he's a way better human being than Tiger ever will be.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:47 AM) I hate people who when they are upset, they feel they have to ruin things for everyone else. No kidding. If you're so unhappy do something about it. Change YOUR life and make it better and stop trying to bring the rest of the world down with you. The poor me crap is tired...

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:09 AM) I seriously want to know... for those who do not like him, please explain why. I love his play, hate his attitude. His level of skill is a gift. He, IMO, does not respect that, and is arrogant about it as well. I wish he was more humble. And more accessable. He wont walk up to the green unless there are cops surrounding it and they push fans away, make people move who have been sitting there all day. A lot of those folks have been there since 7am and him getting there at 4pm, making folks move is bulls***. No compassion for the fans.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 21, 2006 -> 07:13 AM) So there's not going to be ANY tournaments in the greater Chicago area anymore? Wow. This week is going to be hell. Our first TW close, and my classes start. So, off I go this morning. Blech. I'll try to contact you via email later to set something up. Next year is the last year for the Western here then it will be back every 4 years they are saying. The PGA wont be back at Medinah until 2012, not sure if it will be at Olympia Fields or anywhere else before that though. As a close to this jam packed weekend I took the niece to the Jackhammers game yesterday (thank you again for the tix BD ) and we had an absolute blast. I've only been a few times before but with a kid it's so much more fun. Their mascot is hysterical and the giveaways (every half inning t-shirts, hats, balls, etc...) are great. If you haven't been and have a little one in your life definitely take them. They will love it. I'm running the close here this month as well so I'm going to be swamped also. Worst case we'll figure out some time over the weekend.

Nick, prayers are definitely with you and your family. Last year was a hard one for our family and the support from many here was amazing and very helpful. Many of us spend a lot of time here, so it's only natural to want to share things - good and bad. Take care and hang in there. Steff

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) Sometime early next week will be fine. Have a good weekend partying. You're going to the PGA? That sounds like a blast. Let me know when you have some time and we'll get together. The PGA was AWESOME yesterday. We sat on the 14th green for most of the day in the grandstands and saw some amazing chips and putts. And to the left of us was the 16th fairway and we saw some kick ass drives and approach shots to the 16th green. I'm really going to miss not having the Western Open here every year. I love watching golf in person.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Thing is, it seems some parts of his confession were completely incorrect from what they were saying. I am waiting for the DNA results at this point - too much odd stuff otherwise going on with this confession. Well.. it's common knowledge that she was not drugged and that they found no evidence of sexual assult (no semen) but sex could mean something different to him - ala "I did not have sexual relations with that woman....." Those are the 2 biggies that are inconsistant with what the world knows. I will agree that even if he knows others CS secrets that it proves nothing. That info could have been gotten easily. It's been 10 years. Someone likely slipped. Maybe even the professor by accident over the years of communicating with him. I say wait for the DNA also.
