Wow.. you guys sure are dealing with this stuff a lot sooner than back in the "old days" Soxy hit on it with the fact that the back and forth isn't healthy for you, IMO. It shouldn't be so hard, and the mixed messages mess with you no matter how old you are or if you're male or female. If you think the friendship is worth keeping then do so. But I don't think you should keep all your eggs in one basket at your age and stage of life. Good luck regardless.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) Steff. Stop it. Stop what Rex...? Stop expecting a polite reply in return rather than a snide rude one? Stop expecting folks who make gross and ignorant generalizations to explain their statements when inquired upon? Stop expecting the ability here to call that response out in a polite and respectful manner? Condescending was quite nice considering the alternatives.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 08:51 AM) The key is the debt to equity ratio and how that factors in your credit score. For most average households, what Steff says is true - but for anyone who makes over 125K - the reverse starts to happen, because you make enough to borrow more, so your credit score goes up. But you have to have had sustained earnings for a good while for that to happen. That's my understanding of it, so you're both right in a sense. OK. I definitely don't know lending laws . Thanks Kap.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) dont believe your friend here Steff. Nothing could be further from the truth. i do corporate and personal lending and you are far better off to have more available lines of credit with $0 balances then fewer available lines of credit with a $0 balance. So basically if you have a $75k a year salary and have $100,000 in available credit lines (with a $0 balance) your score and lending rate will be lower than if you have only $50,000 in available credit lines. Using some common sense here.. if you have 100K in unsecured avaliable credit, and only make 75k.. thus meaning that if you max your credit you will NEVER be able to pay it back, lose your house, car, etc... you will have a better score and get a better rate... That just makes no sense to me.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) Whatever. That condescending suite fits you well these days. Your tailor deserves a bonus. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 10:37 AM) Thank you!!! I was picked on quite a bit from 6th to 8th grade, but always had my parents there to explain the behaviors as well as help to cheer me up. Had that not been the case, I do not doubt that I would have done something stupid just because I would have had so much pent up rage and sadness. Instead, I dealt with it and by the time I got to high school I learned to shrug it off and get involved in activities and with people that didn't give me problems. I ended up haveing a very successful high school and college career because of my parents guiding me through that tough time. Whatever...

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) Nah, its a double edge sword and its better to have the credit untied as opposed to tied. An more importantly its better to have those few things on your credit report than to not have it. I know my score is damn near perfect and one of the biggest reasons is I constantly pay off my cards. I'm not saying you should never use your cards, on the contrary, but the key is to always pay off your balance (if you can) and you'll have the best possible credit rating. It keeps your balance down, yet at the same time you'll have some sort of balance anytime the credit report looks because you are using it. I wasn't referring to not using your cards. I was referring to having all that credit. If you have 50K in avaliable credit, yet only make 80k a year.. you might have a nice credit score, but lenders are going to be cautious of giving you more credit because at any given time you can put yourself 50k in the hole.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) And remember there is no harm in having a CC and really not using it (as long as it has no yearly fee's or anything like that). Not true Jason. The more avaliable credit you have CAN harm you. It's seen as an opportunity that at any time you can run yourself into the ground in debt. Best bet (unstated rule I have heard from several in the mortage business) is to NOT have avaliable (unused) credit of more than 20% your yearly income.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:20 AM) Allowing kids to experience the little disappointments as they grow up prepares them to deal with the bigger disappointments life will surely throw in their paths. We wonder why kids go 'Columbine' on us. It's because they weren't taught how to deal with things as they were growing up. I'd say it's those that experience the rejection and don't have proper parents to explain it to them is why things like Columbine happen. Sheltered lives make kids stuck up. Not killers. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 10:58 AM) I think you are digging way to far into what YASNY was saying, and that is why he blew you off, I also think you really missed his point that the way your are brought up has a lot to do with the person you grow up to be. And it has to do with the parents not the rejection of not getting invited to a birthday party. Additionally, the response was kind in return. The response to that could have been handled better.. but what the hell. f*** it, right?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) Don't know what MM or EOS mean. Milkman and end of story.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) How many White Sox greats get the national attention that Fisk does? MM.. I am in no mood to measure pp's today. I just disagree with your opinion. EOS.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) If Fisk hadn't played for Boston, he'd just be another White Sox HOFer that nobody outside of Chicago really considers one of the greats. Since he played for the Red Sox, he gets mentioned in the same breath as guys like Bench and Berra. If he played only for Chicago, he'd be in the same group as Appling, Fox, and hopefully Baines. Guys that were some of the greats, but don't get much national credit. Your opinion, which I think is BS, but you're entitled to it.
-
Oye... getting a nod cause he played for Boston. Thank you for the material. He should get a good laugh out of that one.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) Not to mention MVP chants Oh I don't mind stuff that makes you guys look like fools..

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) And unlike last year, which got this site in Sports Illustrated, don't come back with some "juicy" story. And yes, I know it wasn't you - but the story came from that, didn't it? No, that story came from the East coast. I just said that former players were gossiping about the same stuff. When have I ever started a "story" here....

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) I really hate the booing of intentional walks too. Massive peeve of mine also.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) Nothing at all, but I don't see how its dumb or how it draws attention to yourself. As long as you aren't starting White Sox chants or something at a Yankees/Red Sox game, I don't see what the big deal is. I don't see what the big deal is questioning the other side of the coin. Par for the course.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:27 PM) Thanks for making me look like a parrot "Polly like personal preference, Polly want a differing opinion" Shaddup sissy sleep needer..

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) It's a baseball game, what's wrong with wearing something baseball related? It's not like you are insulting any of the teams playing by wearing a Sox hat. What's wrong with personal pref and a differing opinion.....
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) And most people never would, but as Sox fans know its the 0.0001% of people who can ruin it for everybody. I wouldn't wear stuff of a team not playing, and I would make a comment about someone who was using the criteria that Tony presented. IMO, those are the classless ones. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Yeah, as usual we are off of the orginal point. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:56 AM) You'll have that at a park that is less of "rival", vs wearing Sox gear at a place like the Jake, Comerica, or Wrigley. Did I miss something or was the intital complaint about the idiots that wear the garb of a team NOT playing...??? i.e.. I did not wear any Sox stuff when I went to Shea last weekend because the Sox were not playing.

QUOTE(CubKilla @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) Oh I'm good. Been busy with work and ball games and weddings and other "fun" crap. Haven't seen you at many games but I go to mostly weekday games. How you doin? Mostly weekdays here also. Same seats as last year. Stop by next time you are there. Same old, same old with us also. Did ya hear I'm getting a new neighbor out south...?
