QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:57 AM) Not originally. Mercy's initial post only put Julie in the icon category, and not in the team clubhouse. Which is the same designation I would have given. But I'm not on the team, despite owning the anniversary TOSM set. I own Bette Midler albums as well. . . Her initial post.. You say you didn’t know Ms Julie is a lesbian and gay icon? Then clearly you’ve breached the ghey-only perimeter fence on false pretenses. But speaking from the distaff side, I can swear she is. And it’s a little bit more than a Bea Arthur kind of thing, if you catch my drift, girlfriends. So my hat’s off to you, Mr. Mayor.

QUOTE(Be Good @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) I voted for the Trop. Everyone hates on Shea, but I think its average. Then again I have nothing to compare it to. As I've only been to Shea, and Yankee Stadium. Why would you vote for a place you've never been to..?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I can understand Icon. But Andrews was clearly portrayed as a lesbian, and I just think that is something that certainly can not be proven. Understood.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) CC, you've said what I've said. I understand the rules here at soxtalk, but isn't it interesting that people think like Cerbaho and condone certain slurs while condemn others. It's not very Christian like to judge others.. Yes.. going to hell

QUOTE(Soxy @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) I thought she was, not, obviously, to the Bette Midler level, but I think she still is a gay icon. Icon.. I have no clue.. playing for the team is the question..??

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) I guess I'm not up on the newest roster additions. But if so, then GO TEAM! Julie Andrews is a good one. I think that's why kyyle is calling foul... she isn't.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:35 AM) You don't have to be on the team to be an icon of the team. See Babs, Liz Taylor, Sox4LifeinPa, and The Divine Miss M as examples. There is clear indication she is on the team.. from the OP anyway.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) Then of course, there is this, also from Urban Dictionary: An excuse for using the term "Gay" in a negative way, without seeming to be offensive. However, changing the spelling of the word doesn't change how offensive it can still be to homosexuals. Person1: That's ghey! Person2: Dude, don't use that word. Person1: But I'm spelling it g-h-e-y. Person2: Dude, that doesn't matter, it's still offensive. Person1: Well, that's ghey! Person2 thwacks Person1

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) Does the field that you are talking about have weeds on the walls and have no jumbotron and a rathole for a visitors dugout. Why yes.. it does. Along with nasty food, warm beer, and absolutely frightening bathrooms.

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) I can't understand why US Cellular would even be considered. Some of the Upper Deck stinks, but the lower deck is great. I seriously have a difficult time watching games that are televised at HHH and Tampa. Those have to be the two worst. They don't even look like baseball stadiums. They may be crap because they are indoors.. but the facilities themselves are not crap.

Is there a reason there is masked spelling here.. ? Could it be that the word "gay" has caused trouble here before so most of us have refrained from using it at the request and respect of the mods and admins who run this joint.. ?

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) Remember, every player is given a pretty good stipent when they are on the road for food expenses and other travel stuff. Its like when a company sends you on the road (well at least thats what the company I work for does) where you get perdiem and in the case of major league players, IIRC its like 200 bucks a day (its a pretty good amount, I remember that). It was $200 a day back in 1999...

QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) Kids are unreal today, aren't they? My little girl already has posters of Ashlee Simpson, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day ( OMG, NOT THEM!!!!! ) on her bedroom walls, talks about "rocking out" to her CDs, and stuff like that. She's 5 going on 16. No wonder my hair is turning grey at light-speed..... I can't believe it. The stuff that comes out of her mouth stops me dead in my tracks. At the salon the other day she was with me and I stopped to make an appointment.. as I am looking at the shampoo, she walks up to the counter and says "I'd like an eyebrow wax please..".

QUOTE(The Critic @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) LOL!!!!!! Hardly, man, HARDLY. I'm so freakin' out of touch with "the kids today" - my own daughter's favorite phrase lately is "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad, you're embarrassing me!!!!" ....she is FIVE, by the way............FIVE!!!!!! LMAO!!! My neice, who is also 5, just told Jim and I that she wanted us to take her to the Circus and not to bring her parents because they aren't "cool"...

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) We had a place called Rock A Bee's. It was the old Harley Davidson store on 111th and Cicero. Oh man the memories are all coming back to me. I kinda remember that place.. it was in a KMart parking lot..? I never went there though. We had this one friend.. Chris.. who's mom worked nights and we always hung at his house Thursday - Saturday nights. 15 or so teenagers.. there was never a dull moment..

http://www.suntimes.com/output/television/...nws-dead15.html A producer for the Fox network television series "Prison Break," which is filmed in a former state prison in Joliet, was found dead in his North Michigan Avenue hotel room Monday afternoon, the victim of an apparent drug overdose, according to authorities. Matthew Houbrick, 42, of Calabasas, Calif., was found dead about 3:30 p.m., in his 6th floor room at the Drake Hotel. Some white powder, believed to be cocaine or heroin, was also found in the room, a source close to the investigation told the Chicago Sun-Times. It was unclear how long Houbrick had been dead, but a police source said a Hollywood producer was concerned about the man and asked hotel staff to make a well-being check. Police officials obtained the information about his job title, but Fox network spokesmen did not confirm Houbrick's death late Monday. Worked on '7th Heaven' The drama "Prison Break," currently in its first season, tells the tale of a man who robs a bank in order to get caught. This allows him to be sent to the same prison where his older brother wrongly sits on Death Row for an assassination. The younger brother plans a breakout for the both of them. The series is filmed at the former Joliet Correctional Center, where generations of hard-core criminals served time. Houbrick's credits include working as supervising producer for the WB's "Charmed" from 1999 to 2000, as well as other production work on "7th Heaven," the 1990s' series "The Love Boat: The Next Wave" and "Pacific Palisades," according to the Internet Movie Database. For his family..
