Ya know what SSI.. I don't know. I do know that it makes the most un-advertised money. That speaks volumes. Their fans are very loyal and they travel many, many miles to see races. How many baseball fans do you know that travel hours to see a baseball game? I asked my dad (who is an avid NASCAR fan about the attendance in Joliet 2 weeks ago and I guess it was up near a million people just on Sunday. That does not account for the Friday and Saturday events which are normally sold out as well from what I am told. So if 700K show up each day of the weekend.. that's 2.1 million a weekend. Over 41 weekends that's 86 million people. That's a lot of people. And no, I don't think 86 million people attend baseball games. I'd bet the farm that 60 million people per year do NOT attend baseball games (30 teams, 2 million per year per team - and we know for a fact that many teams don't get close to that #, my guess would be much closer to a 40 million number). And I didn't know you were including college and the minors in there.. I guess I could try to get #'s from all the racing events... I had no idea, but there are a lot more than just the NASCAR, Cart, and Bush series. I suppose my point - if i can find one here - is that there are a lot of people who like NASCAR (arguably more than baseball...). Different strokes for different folks. I simply don't understand why they get so much s*** for it. Don't like it.. keep on keepin on....

Treadmill, freeweights, cardio, etc... "Doable" is a nickname bestowed on me by the late great RPS who has been scarce around these parts the past few months.. (lucky bastard.. ). It means nothing.. I am really a 30 year old 350lb heffer.

Apparently I wasn't clear... let me try again. In the past 5 to 7 years is when the very harmful additives have been added to the filtration system at an alarming rate. Ask your uncle how much chlorine is added to a cycle (which is about 250K gallons). It's about 200 lbs. My spa on my deck holds about 10K gallons of water.. I add a tablet the size of a silver $ (which weighs maybe 1/4th a lb) every 10 days or so and it still reaks like chlorine by the time I put the next one in. Chlorine is not good and over time will do serious damage to a person who drinks a lot of water on a daily basis.

So be it. My water is clean.

Even just 10 years ago there were less than half the chemicals in the water that there is now. My grandmother who has all her life been a tap water drinker still drinks it. She's used to it. She also just found out she has liver disease. And she does not drink alcohol.

And for the second time.. believe what you want. Have them come out and test it if you're so sure. I know they do it for free.

NASCAR has 41 events per year with an average of 700K in attendance (give or take 20 or 30K here and there..).. that's 28,700,000 people. That's a lot of people. And doesn't even include the other divisions (Cart, Bush, etc..) Edited to correct the # of races http://www.nascar.com/races/cup/2004/data/schedule.html

Personal preference. When I saw the tests it disgusted me. Over time (within 3 months) the water bleached clothes (from all the chlorine), it irritates some people's skin, it causes some people to have stomach problems, and chronic sore throats.. the list is endless. But if you're serious, we got an AquaTiva system, which was a bit expensive, but worth it for us.
-
Nope. I drink the water from our tap which is filtered via the water filtration system in our basement.
-
Where the hell do you think they get the water from..? They get it from Lk Michigan.. and filter it even further that the city does.
-
Animals also lick their own asses...

Believe what you want. My old neighbor works for the Water Reclaimation Department.. and if they would advise against drinking it... there's something to it, IMO. As well we had our water in Plainfield tested.. there are over 800 chemicals and micro-organisms in it.. It barely meets code. It's chlorinated to death. Chlorine is not "healthy".
-
What about the pesticides..? And let's not forget the eboli (sp?) that has CLOSED most of the cities beaches... The water is not safe to swim in.. but it's safe to drink..?? Yea.. OK.
-
Mmmm.. yes. Yummy indeed. With all the flavored flouride they add to it to cover up the pesticides, chlorine, etc, etc.. not to mention all the micro organisms living in there... yum-me. And yes.. that was a brand of water.. purified, processed, then bottled. But greasy is right.. the midwest is better than most of the rest of the US (Colorado & Utah, IIRC, have the best natural water in the country). However, it's by no means "healthy".

This is exactly why I get drunk and pass out when I fly.

Jim's son is getting married on....... 9-11. :headshake The apple fell far from the tree with that one. rolleyeyes.gif

Well that left me with a nice warm fuzzy feeling... Note to self.. do not fly NW airlines. Southwest and ATA both screen till the cows come home. And they are cheaper.

I have 2 Portillo's near me.. on Roosevelt and on 83.. Mmmm.. maybe I'll get lunch there today.
