2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
Felix replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) The article headline "Rubio talking to Barcelona about his future" comes across a lot stronger than anything in the article. Nothing has changed. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 04:53 PM) Rubio giving the TWolves the run around again. No he isn't. Nothing has changed. -
I'm sure this was already posted in the last couple of pages, but it's honestly becoming one of the funniest videos ever:
-
Brian Cardinal and Corey Brewer each have more rings than LeBron James.

Lynx got off to a 22-0 run against Seattle in Seattle yesterday, giving the Storm their first home loss since 2009

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Bill Simmons and Jeff Passan are the two best sports journalists on the planet. And yet neither is in the same stratosphere as Joe Posnanski.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 07:48 PM) We held our WNBA fantasy draft the other day. The categories are ACL tears, pregnancy leaves and publicly coming out. I like my teams, got a lot of players with hyphenated names so we should be good with in-season pregnancy leave of absences. Hater itt

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) There has to be a word out there that eludes me in describing Dunn. Pathetic? No. Disgusting? No. Deplorable? No. Despicable? No. Abomination? No. Heinous? No. I will come up with something soon. Something that really sticks. Dunn is Dunn.

Well, Lynx lost their season opener in Los Angeles last night after holding a 10 point lead halfway through the third. Maya had a good game, 21 points and four three-pointers, becoming the fifth rookie in league history to score 20+ points in their debut. Definitely need to start holding onto these leads this year, let's not have that trend from last season continue. Home opener is on Sunday against the Sparks again.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) I would be shocked if he is more than a marginal player. No jumper to speak of and he isn't a good athlete. He makes some flashy passes but from what I've seen that is all that he has going for him. We'll see. I think it's fairly silly to completely shut down someone before they've even played in the NBA, especially when they have the type of court vision that Rubio is said to have. That being said, he obviously has a lot of work to do, but it's not like improving a jump shot is this never done before point of refinement. He's still absurdly young and he hasn't even played a minute in the NBA. Give him some time before lumping him in with the rest of our roster and saying he sucks.

¡Olé! (there are massive, impossible to ignore questions about whether he's worth the hype, but damnit, there's no time for negativity)

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 29, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) i think if you put Rip on a contending team you would a Rip that is much closer to 2004 than to 2011. He hated his coach and had a really bad team around him. I think you could see a rebirth similar to Ray Allen to the Celtics if he is on the Bulls. That being said, I would look at it as a secondary option, and look younger. Are you thinking of the right Ray Allen? He was pretty goddamn good for Seattle before heading to Boston: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/a/allenra02.html

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 27, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) Courtney Vandersloot > Maya Moore COME AT ME BRO! There's a reason Maya was the clearcut #1 pick and Vandersloot went third
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ May 27, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) *PS, I don't think Felix is joking. So I will make one of few(if not only) post about the WNBA. Pokey Chatman and Sylvia Fowles > Maya Moore. Seimone Augustus > Sylvia Fowles (also Maya Moore > Fowles) Also the Lynx got the roster down to 11 today. Traded Hollingsworth for the right to swap third rounders in a future year and cut two local girls (Angel Robinson and Kachine Alexander). Robinson had looked pretty good in training camp/preseason opener, but had to know she was a longshot to make the team.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) I'm not saying it was a foul. The refs won't make that call ever. Sorry, I'm just f***ing pissed and want to only see Bulls fans right now. Maybe you should go to BullsTalk then? This is Soxtalk and an NBA thread. Not a Bulls thread. Deal with it.

QUOTE (daa84 @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) watch the f***ing replay then......tell me when lebron comes down that he doesnt crush rose with his body I did watch that replay. It wasn't a foul in a normal situation, and it would never be called a foul on the last play of the game when you're down 3. That was a laughable possession and the Bulls certainly didn't deserve to be bailed out by a bad call. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) then go back and watch the Drose Wade play. tell me that rose "takes his legs out" Certainly might be wrong about this one. I only caught a quick glance at the replay and it certainly looked like a foul to me, but I'd definitely like to see it again.
-
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:19 PM) Why do you even come in here when the bulls are doing poorly? What kind of joy do you get out of this? What? Is it suddenly against the rules to have an unbias opinion? I was rooting for the Bulls. That last play wasn't a foul.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) if rose fouled D wade on his 3....lebron fouled rose on the last 3 Rose took out the legs of Wade on that 3. LeBron blocked the s*** out of the ball on the Rose 3.

What sort of possession was that?
-
QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:13 PM) heat player chucked a towel when he shot it So what?

I f***ing hate him, but goddamn is LeBron good.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 26, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) he did foul him on the three Yep.
