  1. Javy just gave us a taste what he'll be featuring in the 5th.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Then he should be batting behind PK and Thome. I wouldn't mind him behind Thome. But PK has been bad lately and it does no good to be behind him.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) I don't understand why we moved Crede into the 3rd spot. If Dye is out, then just move Thome back into the 3 spot, PK 4th, and Crede 5th. Of course, this is another game where our lack of a back-up righty outfielder is killing us. Crede's hitting .380 with RISP. I think Oz wants to get him a few more AB's with men on. And Coco is hurting the Sox again.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:10 PM) Listening to the radio, you could predict the PK DP coming a mile away. It's funny, but I was always taught that if you're on 3rd base, you should be running home on contact on any ball hit on the infield. Every time the Sox do that, they get thrown out at home. This time they don't do it and, of course, there's and error.
  5. QUOTE(alexgtp @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 08:07 PM) Man is it me or is Pauly sucking big time in the 5 spot? He has become the DP king! He's been sucking the 4th spot, that's why Dye got moved up.
  6. I don't like Thome walking with PK up. Here's a DP.
  7. The one time the contact play isn't on...
  8. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) Yeah, he usually gets me excited in the first few innings but I should know better. I feel like the idiot kid who keeps putting his hand in the fire only to get burned every time. Brian Anderson should not hit 7th, Juan Uribe should not hit period. Vazquez will turn bad in due time. BA has to bat 7th. Uribe has been worse than him lately, and Sweeney has to bat ninth. Not much can be done about that. It's a bad situation to be at this point in the season.
  9. Dis Red Sawx colah man is gonna make me shoot myself.
  10. I'd rather have Thornton as the closer. MacDougal gets into too much trouble every time he comes in. He gets out of it generally, but I don't know if it will work in the closer's role.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) DA...what's your opinion on the Jenks and his lack of consistently velocity this season? He's only been in the real high 90s about 1/5 of the games he's been in. Last year, he was in the very high 90s a lot more often? Do you think it is due to just wear and tear on his arm over the year, or might his conditioning be preventing consistent performances? He's had a very good season this year, but I hope he can hold up the rest of the way. He went from having his best stuff of the season (Sat night) to his worst tonight. I think Jenks toned back the fastball so he could be more consistent with his curve. Last year he had no comand of the curve. This was his 3rd blown save, I know it's bad timing, but 3 blown saves is not bad.
  12. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) as much as I luv Garland, let Thorton start the inning. Garland's thrown a lot of pitches.
  13. QUOTE(SoxnGiants @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Single scores him... well, maybe not. Better make it a double. Just to be sure, better swing for the fences...
  14. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) Bottom 4TH B:3 S:2 O:1 Manny Ramirez lines out, pitcher Jon Garland to first baseman Paul Konerko. Gameday does not make sense on that last out. It was a liner that hit Garland in the glove and bounced off. He flipped it to PK for the out.
  15. On the plus side, in a couple weeks some of these teams could cool off.
  16. Article on Frank Figured you guys would want to see this. Pretty good article by Dayn Perry.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 10:34 PM) So this puts us 4 back in the loss column. We need to gain 2 in the next 10 days to have a shot, IMO. Agreed. At least it seems the most logical way.
