  1. No way is Ozzie becoming Ditka or will end up like Ditka. Ditka is a knothead, scumbag who gets bombed, hangs out at his crappy restaurant smoking cigars, lives off the past, and usually ends up talking to some trashy girls before they leave together. The guy is a clown! I'd be very surprised if Ozzie ended up like this.
  2. I'm surprised that Ozzie would announce that he's the captain, or want to go down this road. If anyone is the captain, it's Ozzie, hence calling a MLB manager "The Skipper". Also, in pro sports once you name a person captain, what are you going to do when it's time to dump the guy because he isn't hitting anymore? The naming of captains works in highschool and college, due to the turnover, but in the pro's it's a receipe for disaster. I think it's a dumb idea.
  3. The whole "the Sox are moving to Florida" was brewing for some time, but I always thought a deal would get done. Then I saw that a stadium was being built in Florida, then as the deadline was getting closer, I started to think that the Sox might end up moving. You have to remember that in 1984 the Colts moved to Indy in the middle of the night, so why wouldn't that happen to the Sox. So the deadline was set and when I went to bed that night I thought the Sox were goners. I woke up the next day and my dad told me the good news that the Sox were staying. I was upset with Reinsdorf and the team for being taken hostage, but I got over it when the Sox got off to a great start in 1990. The 1990 team saved me from doing something really stupid and got me back on the right track. Now that I'm older I relize that you have to set deadlines to get deals set. The SF Giants did the same thing in the late '90's and it got them a stadium also. It was a dark time as a Sox fan, but if you can believe it, it was not the lowest. In my opinion the 1994 strike was the lowest. Of all the years to go on strike!!!
  4. I might be the only one who feels this way, but I have no interest in this tournament. Not because of the White Sox players, but I've never thought the idea of All-Stars getting together to play a team sport, especially prefessional players worked in a tournament setting. Teams take awhile to actually mold into teams, plus a group of professional players making millions to play for America in an american manufacuted tournament would seem dull to the average major leaguer. Anyways, isn't this what the olympics are for? and since the olympic baseball was cancelled isn't that a pretty good sign that people are not interested in baseball tournments like this? I guess the foregin players want this, but who cares about foreign teams that can barely field an entire team. Maybe this is just a MLB manufactured event to better scout the Cuban players against MLB talent.
  5. The only possible copyright problems would be with the photo of the trophy. They would have to pay the photographer. But as for the Texas, LSU and USC printed on the billboard, that is not a copyright violation as long as it isn't the official school logo's or any copyrighted logos.
  6. Here are some photos from those attacks/morons. The first one was the Cub fan Dybas, the second was the guy that attacked the umpire with his kid, the third one is some jerk that ran on the field and the fourth is when Homer cost the 'Topes the championship.
  7. Why "Scoop" would get all in a tizzie about the communities Joe Buck mentioned is a waste of time. I recall that Joe mentioned that a lot of White Sox fans WORK (Not worked) at the stock yards. Somebody forgot to tell Joe that the stock yards have been gone for almost 40 years. Would it make Scoop happy if Joe mentioned all the White Sox fans in the Robert Taylor homes?...is that what he's looking for? As for Scoop, being a White Sox fan and writing about the White Sox not getting respect from Sports Illustrated is a valid point. Every World Series winner since 1995 has been on the cover....except the White Sox.
  8. I live in Chicago and the MLB World Series video was blacked out, but not the Sox Pride video. I use Direct TV.
  9. This is all a set up for Moronetti. Now that the White Sox have won the World Series, he will build them up to unatainable heights and when they fail to reach his goals or they get rid of a player he liked, then the hatchet job comes out. For christs sake, the guy still writes about the Bulls being broken up 7 years later and after they won 6 championships! Also on June 7th, 2005 Moronetti wrote that as long as Jerry Reinsdorf ownes the White Sox, then they will never win a World Series. Moronetti has absolutly no credability left in Chicago and should leave town.
  10. I saw the World Series trophy today at the City/County Building. It's located on the first floor in the middle of the foyer and is guarded by about 8 cops. It will be there till Friday night. The building is located on LaSalle and Washington.
  11. I remember when Delgado was a free agent in Toronto, they asked him about the White Sox and he said that he hates US Cellular field and wouldn't sign with the Sox, no matter what. So, even though he would be a good fit for the Sox, I wasn't holding my breath.
  12. This guy Bruce Levine is a total Cubs apoligist. As a baseball "insider", the guy is a total hack. If he's reporting it, I know its a dead deal, or it wasn't a deal to begin with.
  13. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 21, 2005 -> 09:20 PM) i used to hate notre dame, then they started sucking...for a while...and then it tamed. Since ND is good again, does that mean your "hating" is going to pick back up? There could be some medicine that could help you with that. And why is it that anytime ND is mentioned, a bunch of posters have to point out how much they "hate" ND? Yea, yea...you hate ND...got it. You don't need to post it every time. Move on! Also, there is a great Cubs/Bartman refrence in the new Family Guy/Stewie Griffin DVD. Oh, no, did I just start a "I hate Family Guy" thing now?
  14. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) careful thou, my friend did this and it slowed down his computer soooo much... My computer doesn't slow down at all or when I access the network. It's the same all the time and I don't have a super processor or anything out of the ordinary. I have no idea why it would slow down.
  15. QUOTE(He Gawn!!! @ Nov 18, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Is this for any TiVo model? I have the HD TiVo and was told that my USB port will not work like this. Has that been corrected? IF you have a stand alone Tivo unit HD or not, you can hook it up to a network/router that will access your mp3's, photos and play or view them through the television and will allow you to use the tivo to go feature. But, if you have a satellite/tivo unit, the network feature doesn't work.
  16. The Sony burner device that I linked to above automatically creates on screen chapters. It as easy or easier than a VCR. All you have to do is plug it in, attach it to Tivo's video out, put in a blank DVD+R disc, hit record, you can pause out commercials, hit stop when its done. You can add as many programs that the disc can hold. So, when I put in the Red Sox series highlights, it shows up in 3 boxes marking game 1, 2 & 3. Within those, chapeters are set every 5 minutes. You can switch it to 10 mins, 15 mins or no chapeters at all. You don't need computer expertise to use this, but you can hook it up to a computer for DVD burning through that.
  17. For Tivo users, this is what I use. It's the best thing because you can hook it up to the Tivo or the computer. I have the highlights from all the playoff games, some entire games and all the celebrations on DVD. Plus, when those video are on Comcast, I'm gonna burn those, so I don't have to buy them. http://www.abtelectronics.com/scripts/site...e=Sony&id=19117
  18. 1. I didn't tell the guy the Packers suck. I was joking, although the Packers suck....everyone knows that! 2. I've always liked the beer cans that celebrate a teams championship. I have a Iron City Beer for the '70's Steelers, a Old Style can celebrating Old Comiskey and a 1996 Packers Super Bowl Miller Lite that my friend gave me to rub it in my face, since I'm a Bears fan. I always thought that when the White Sox won it all, some beer maker would make a can, and now that its happened, Miller won't make one and I'm kinda pissed. Also, if the Flubbies ever got to the World Series, every beer maker would be putting out Cubbie cans. Another example of the White Sox getting the short end, but I'll take the championship over a stupid can anyday. 3. I hate Miller Lite, I think it tastes worse that water. I would only want the supid can, because of the White Sox.
  19. I just got off the phone with some marketing dude at Miller and he said that there is no plans to make commerative White Sox world series Miller Lite cans. I asked him why and he said they have no plans to make a White Sox can and thats all he can tell me. I told him that when the Packers won the 1997 Super Bowl, they got a special can and he told me that Miller was owned by a different company then and that they don't do that many special cans anymore. They do special packaging, but not special cans. I then told him the Packers suck and hung up on him.
  20. For all of the Tivo users, I recommend this Sony portable DVD burner. You can hook it up to the Tivo through the red, white and yellow cables or S-Video and you can hook it up to your computer and use it as a burner/drive. It can set chapters, burn double layer discs and other stuff. I highly recommend it. Sony DVD Burner
  21. I have no idea if Miller has made White Sox commertive World Series cans or if they exist, but I know that Miller has the exclusive right to all things Sox and beer related. Old Style does Cubs cans, Bears cans and they used to do White Sox cans, but Miller now has all the rights. I e-mailed Miller about any Sox WS cans and I got some bs answer about how Miller doesn't discuss any future marketing plans. Anybody seen something?
  22. 2005 A-Rod Season .321 Average 48 Homeruns 130 RBI's 2005 A-Rod playoffs .133 Average 0 Homeruns 0 RBI's
  23. First, the Yankees and Red Sox special DVD's were released within the last year, so this is something new which might explain why the Marlins didn't receive one. Second, almost everyone has a DVD player now so there is a bigger demand for nitche DVD's, like the first season of Hogan's Hero's. Personally, I would be surprised if the White Sox received a special DVD box set with all 5 games against the Angels and all 4 against the Astros, but if it came out, I would buy one.
  24. For the last seven years the Chicago media chose to focus almost all of it's energy on Sosa, with all of his hopping, kissing to the camara, corked bats, steroid abuse, homeruns, and overall selfish play. Yet when a Chicago player wins the world championship, gives the game ball to the franchise, is a quality teammate and puts up solid numbers, it takes an out of town writer to give Konerko his proper credit. The hypocrisy of the Chicago media knows no boundrys. The other aspect is how people and the media say stuff like "There aren't old school players anymore, with the ESPN highlights, big money contracts, flashy jewlery, players of today are too selfish and only interested in seeing themselves on t.v." Well all I can say is here the guy...Paul Konerko! He's an old school player that plays the game the right way, and wins championships the right way. This guy makes T.O., Manny Ramirez, Kobe Bryant, Jeremy Shockey, Michael Irvin, Ty Law, Allen Iverson and Steroid Sosa look like the jerks they really are.
  25. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) One more time nice a loud . . . "Who Cares?" Who cares?....Why even bother to post that? If you have nothing to add why Sports Illustrated left the White Sox championship off there cover, then don't reply.
