  1. Not a huge fan of that move. They are probably going with a PH here, and they can match up a righty against Thornton. Might as well keep Humber in there, he's not out of gas or anything.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:21 PM) Humber throws behind LaHair, warnings issued Well, someone did say hit LaHair.
  3. So much for getting Smardhjlkl's pitch count up there, need to take some more pitches.
  4. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2012 -> 02:15 PM) I really don't are about the circumstances, you stick up for your guy But you do it smartly. Not in the 3rd inning after a warning, thus guaranteeing Humber is ejected, while the Cubs get to go unscathed. That's just a bad baseball decision. Do it later if the game is out of reach one way or the other, or do it tomorrow.
  5. Humber efficient with his pitches so far, despite the extra out and the hits in the first.
  6. The little MLB Gameday Scout thingy says Samardzjia gets hit at a .200 clip before 45 pitches, and .320 after. He's at 47 now. I doubt the HBP was intentional, but this could still get interesting. After Paulie's HR, you never know. Pretty sure he wouldn't have tried to hit him in the head.
  7. Whoa, PK HBP and now "injury delay"? What happened?
  8. Nice easy inning there for Humber, throwing strikes and settling down.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) Sorry that is not giving up anything.......do not need as many bench players in AL. How does that make sense? I know we're all Sox fans, but this idea that interleague play only helps the NL is ridiculous. Besides, look at the results for the past decade.
  10. Well, that's 34 pitches for Jeff to get through 2 innings. Would be nice to run that total up and hit the Cubs pen by the 6th.
  11. attaboy Eduardo! Samardzjia now at 31 pitches. Keep it up, get into that tender Cubs pen.
  12. From 2nd/3rd no one out, 1 run ain't too bad.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:37 PM) Brian LaHair: the most fortunate man in the world. He's been cooling off lately. And there ya go, K.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) lollllll terrible pitch calling And now after nothing but fastballs for 3 batters, he throws 4 straight breaking balls to Rios to get him.
  15. Damn, I wish I had gotten to watch that, and see the Wrigley fan reactions. Deflation.
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 18, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) Where the hell do you guys sign up for these leagues? I'm too old to play organized baseball now and I've always enjoyed how easy it is to hit in softball. I coached/played on company teams, started a couple teams on my own... this one, I moved to a suburb and didn't really know anyone or a team, so I just called the park district to see if they were taking any free agents. He had me email him a "softball resume" (that was fun to write), he sent it to the coaches of the teams in various leagues, and then I started getting emails from the coaches about playing.
  17. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ May 18, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) Battleship is the most disappointing movie I've ever seen. How can that be possible? How can anyone's expectations of that "film" be anything other than rock bottom going in?
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 18, 2012 -> 07:58 AM) I hope Samardzija takes a line drive off the skull today. No one disrespects the Hawk. eh? What did I miss?
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2012 -> 09:48 PM) The Carlos Sanchez, Phegley and Ravelo bandwagons have slowed a bit...but none moreso than Tyler Kuhn. This is a strange post. Sanchez and Ravelo are still doing quite well, especially for their age... and Phegley may have cooled off but still has been quite a nice positive, and has been healthy. QUOTE (DirtySox @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:35 PM) From what I've heard, his future is likely at 1B. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ May 18, 2012 -> 01:52 AM) Coming out of HS i heard the exact opposite, that he was an asset on D. So, in other words... we have no idea. I'll see what I can dig up. If he's a 1B and doesn't develop a lot more power, he isn't going anywhere.
  20. Walters definitely worth noting. Kyle Bellamy is a guy who dropped off the radar missing a season to injury, but he seems to be dialed back in, and it would be nice to see him against some AA hitting this year. He may have a shot yet. I do still like what Rangel Ravelo is doing with the bat at age 20. No power to speak of yet though. I think I may go see if I can hit up that Scouting the Sally guy, see if there are any reports about his D.
  21. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 14, 2012 -> 11:05 AM) Don't question it, just take it! A night is coming when you're going to hit three ropes right at guys, you know it. Heh. Well, it did in fact come back around last night, but not as envisioned. I hurt my knee working on our fence at home in the afternoon, and couldn't make a swing right-handed without it buckling a bit (right knee). So I hit LH, which I hadn't done in a couple years. Struck out the first at bat (haven't done THAT in a couple years either), then hit a line shot foul on 2 strikes for another out. Switched back to right, hit a line drive, winced in pain, looked up and saw it went right to the 3B. O-fer-three on the night. Figures. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 17, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) So today is the day when I hate being manager. 2 guys out because 1 is getting married and the other is his brother standing up for him. 2 guys lets me know just that they cant come because of work. So now I have 9 players against one of the top teams in the league. Im 100 percent serious, if any of you softball players can make it to Melas park in Arlington Heights by 7:30 I will put you in. Normally I'd be there, its not too far from me... but we are crazy busy getting ready for the 2nd kid arriving any day, I just can't do it. Also my knee still hurts.
  22. If they play Viciedo 1 game in LF, with Dunn being a PH that game... Viciedo 1 game in right with Rios being a PH... and sit Viciedo 1 game and PH as needed... you can still get Viciedo 2 full games plus an AB, same for Dunn and Rios. You could also add in Konerko to that puzzle. In any case, they can still get them all some good AB's in a 3 game NL set.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 01:40 PM) Where else could you play him? Second base? RF would be the only other logical one.
  24. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 12:03 PM) Alfonso Soriano = 33 UZR/150 so far this year. dafuk? Measures like UZR are nearly useless this time of year, the sample size just isn't big enough yet.
