  1. I'll do some updates as they come up.
  2. I like that this Dubler guy is a leader in doubles and walks. Good indicators both - line drive hitter, and plate discipline.
  3. By ISU, I imagine they mean Illinois State? Anyway, I like that catcher pick.
  4. Unemployment Rate rises from 5% to 5.5% - the largest increase since 1986. Let me lay this out for the next President... investing in new, renewable energy technologies means creating new jobs (read: lowers unemployment rate), lowering energy costs (read: slows inflation, bolsters value of dollar), improving air quality (read: lower health care costs), and putting the US in a position to be global technological leaders (read: better leverage overseas, better balance of trade). See how that works? See how the investment will more than pay for itself, economically and politically? For the love of God, please, do this, and in a serious way.
  5. I'll be there. Let's hope the weather doesn't foul things up. GO YOU WHITE SOX!!!
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) A lot of people were hoping the Sox would eat a lot of his salary and just give him away. I'll admit, if this past offseason someone told me they could have traded Contreras OR Garland for O-Cab, I would have chosen Contreras. Glad I was wrong.
  7. Charlotte lost to Pawtucket, 8-3. Lowlights... Owens: 1-3, BB, R, SB Eldred: 2-3, BB, RBI, R Getz, Bourgeois and Cortez all with 1 single each Broadway (L, 5-4): 6 IP, 9 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 K (ERA 3.18) Wassermann: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K B-Ham beat Montgommery, 3-1. Their magic number is now 3 for the 1st half division championship. Highlights... Negron: 3-4, 3B, RBI, 2 R, CS Mercedes: 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI (V-Merc is now hitting .300) Gartrell: 3-3, 2B, BB Richard (W, 6-6): 8.2 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K (ERA now 2.47, WHIP is 0.98 - this guy is dealing) Link (S, 17): 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K (ERA 1.85) Myrtle Beach beat Winston-Salem, 4-1. Anthony Carter made his first start at A+, gave up 3 ER in the 1st inning, then settled down, but took the loss. Details... Orlando: 2-4, 3B, RBI Retherford, Hernandez and Lang all with 1 single each Carter (L, 0-1): 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K Kanny beat West Virginia, 9-6. Highlights... 8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 6, 2008 -> 08:37 AM) Here's a pretty big reversal of thinking by McCain. He now backs Bush's warrentless wiretaps. And he has the nerve to question why Obama links him to Bush? Hot button issue for me. If he is going to s*** all over the Constitution like Bush has, then maybe I really can't even bother considering voting for him.
  9. Morel is definitely a head-scratcher as said before, and KW2 seems like a bad pick to me. The rest of the draft seemed quite good, from what I am reading. I just think that, even if KW2 is one of the best available at that point (and all indicators are he wasn't), the image you portray and the negative effect on others in the system is too much. I think that's a bad idea.
  10. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 10:50 PM) I agree he deserves a promotion, but I'm not convinced he'll get one. Collaro was let go to make room for Dewayne Wise. Nah, Wise was with the team before. You now don't have a DH in Charlotte. Your OF is Bourgeois, Owens and Wise. The only crowd issue left is 2B, with Getz and Richar both there. You could DH one of those I guess, but, more likely, they'll just have them split time at SS. Cortez isn't a real prospect anyway. Also, Wise may not stick with the team long anyway. I'd be surprised if Cook doesn't end up in Charlotte this season, if not now, then soon.
  11. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) Collaro was the odd man out in Charlotte because he could only DH. They would have to cut someone else loose to make room for Cook. But, I'm not convinced he's going up. This is the White Sox after all. They don't reward success with promotions. The DH slot is now open. Cook could do that, plus play a little OF here and there. I really think that's the end result here.
  12. 33-26 +2.5 Games I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!!!!!!!
  13. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:05 PM) good sir, i'll have you know my outrage over this big time issue is real. please lighten up NorthSide Sorry, I didn't notice the implied green.
  14. Jeez. Until the KW2 pick, I would have given them a B thus far. But WTF is up with the favor draft? That is just dripping with unprofessional B.S. That knocks it down to a C.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) Early in the games... Richard is looking very sharp. 4 K's in the first 2 innings. All the others are getting slapped around. You jinxed them NorthSide. I tend to do that.
  16. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) I don't get the whole "Dog Day". If I had tix...it would annoy the s*** outta me with all the friggin dogs around. If I wanted to be around dogs I'd go to the goddamn dog park or petsmart. Its one game a year, and the dog day tickets are all in one area - in and around the bleachers. Is it really so bad?
  17. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 06:04 PM) http://store.barackobama.com/ same thing i guess. but that doesn't lower my level of outrage towards McCain for selling stuff. so...much....outrage...must...vote...obama... Why turn this into a snark fest? He posted a "snicker" about kind of an amusing thing on McCain's main page. It was harmless. Who said anything about outrage? Lighten up a bit, man.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) I think you owe me an apology, and an edit. Yeah, I do. Sorry. That was real weird. I checked it twice, because I had posted the same numbers earlier today too (you can see it in an earlier post). I wasn't even on the same computer the two different times either. I have no idea why the data didn't update. He dropped from .292 to .278 and his AB's went up 7, so, that must be last night's game that made the difference. Anyway, it doesn't change my view that AJ is a solid #2 guy. Ramirez would be fine too while he's hot, as he doesn't strike out much either, and is getting on base plenty.
  19. Some guy named Kirk Neiuwenhuis from Asuza Pacific University was just drafted. Has anyone else ever even heard of Asuza Pacific University?
  20. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) From looking at some box scores it looks like Morel plays some SS as well. A theme developing? His college numbers for this season look pretty darn good. He was injured in 2007. Maybe he was ignored because of the injury.
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) The other Cal Poly guy just went to the Brewers, somehow that makes me feel better. Yeah, I'm not ready yet to jump off any bridges here. Looks like whatever site DBAH0 found made them both seem like high round picks. I just hope we can find some writeups on the guy. Who knows.
  22. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) golf gear! how dare he!! THIS IS AN OUTRAGE. well, it is kind of funny. The old white guy from Arizona is peddling golf gear on the main page of his Presidential website.
  23. Wassermann struggled mightily after his call-up, having a number of bad outings early on. On 6/4, the Sox acquired Estaban Loaiza, and optioned Ehren back to Charlotte. Here are his numbers with the Sox: 11 Games 6.2 IP 0-1 ERA: 14.85 WHIP: 2.70 K/BB: 5/4 This was the first time in Ehren's professional career that he truly struggled - he'd been solid at every level, including with the Sox in 2007. Hopefully it was an aberration, and he can put it back together in Charlotte.
  24. Here is his MLB.com scouting video.
