  1. Charlotte (14-15) @ Scranton/WB (22-10), 6:00pm CT, Whisler (5-0, 1.26) tries to show this isn't a fluke in this start B-Ham @ Montgommery, underway, down 4-2 through 8. McCulloch had a good 5 innings to start. W-S (12-15) @ Lynchburg (13-17), 6:05pm CT, Poreda (1-2, 3.07) going for the Hogs Kanny (15-15) @ Lake County (17-12), 5:05pm CT, Rice (1-2, 4.18) starting for the Intimidators
  2. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:45 AM) Police officers 99.9% of the time believe that they are right, they dont ask questions, they just reach conclusions. LOL Did you, an attorney, seriously just make the leap that 99.9% of police officers are like that? What a joke.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 6, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) Better than f***ing a fat chick, although since they didnt break out of the slump, you know what one of them has to do. QUOTE (WCSox @ May 6, 2008 -> 10:48 AM) Perhaps Carol Slezak and her feminist cohorts are jealous? OK, regardless of your opinion on whether the doll is offensive, some of the posts are getting darn near it. Take it down a notch please.
  4. Good to hear people are voting. All you other IN and NC folks, get out there and vote! I don't care what party or what candidate, just vote.
  5. Its. A. Locker. Room. If this was on display in public somewhere, in the park, in the dugout, etc., then I would agree with the people here who find it offensive. But its not. Its in the locker room. You know, the place where there are naked, swearing, spitting, tobacco-chewing, drinking, insulting and generally vulgar men, which is as it should be. I'll say it again. You want the media to get their interviews? Do it outside the locker room.
  6. QUOTE (J-MAN @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:33 AM) Since I receive my Sox tickets DHL would not have thought it was a problem! That to me is why I agree with you, this is total B.S. Not only do the Sox send their tickets DHL, but DHL claims to be the official shipping company of MLB. And they won't insure tickets?!?!?!
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 6, 2008 -> 07:31 AM) This will be for my car almost exclusively. OK. I am only really knowledgeable on the portables - I have a Garmin eTrex Vista, and a pair of Garmin Rino's that have 15-mile 2-way radios integrated with the GPS unit. But I will say two things. One, Garmin is a great brand, and I highly recommend it. Two, some car units can receive real-time traffic info and update routes accordingly - I would recommend getting that.
  8. QUOTE (scenario @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:46 AM) Yeah, he's been hot in the last week. I like Jason. I just don't see him being a starter. If he was called up to replace Ozuna, I could understand that. But I don't think that solves our 2nd base problem. Let me clarify. I think Ramirez is going to be made the starter, at least until Richar is healthy. Bourgeois will take the Ozuna or Uribe slot on the roster as a utility guy. I am not saying I agree with all of this, mind you. Just that's what I think might happen.
  9. Here's an idea. How about the locker room should be a locker room, and keep ALL the press out of it? They want interviews, they can do them in a green room outside the locker room. The locker room should be a sanctuary of sorts. I don't think press should be in there at all, except maybe for the once-a-year champagne popping when they win a pennant.
  10. QUOTE (scenario @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) Bourgeois currently batting .222 with a .276 OBP. .343 avg, .361 OBP in his last 9 games. And I don't think they are making this decision based on a month of AAA play anyway. They want the guys they liked for a while before. Owens or Bourgoeis are the likely call-ups, IMO.
  11. Don't be surprised if Uribe or Ozuna are released, and Bourgeois is brought up. They liked him a lot in ST.
  12. Will it be just for the car? Or do you want a portable unit that you can use and carry?
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 6, 2008 -> 06:39 AM) But only George W. Bush hogs all the power... This should surprise no one, but somehow, it's all Dubya's fault anyway. Or from another perspective, its sort of laughable that the same people who ramrodded everything through for 12 years (the GOP) is now crying foul when the other party does the same s***.
  14. QUOTE (Gene Honda Civic @ May 5, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) Yep... In summary, the word "elite" tests poorly, and your "liberal media" is ever so eager to attach simple labels to candidates. The most damaging of which, "flip-flopper" anyone, stick the best. Myself, I've always the word "liberal" as good thing. I enjoyed a liberal helping of mashed potatoes last night. The same goes for "elite." I just did a search on my blog. I've used the term 23 times, every time it was used positively. I'd love a president who was truly elite, an immensely qualified, uniquely talented leader, one who also relies on guidance from other similarly "elite" people. It would be a far cry from the current situation, a president who skated into office thanks in part to his elite connections all the while playing the down home country boy thank to his ability to purchase a large part of Texas. Gene- In order to post in the Buster, you need to read, agree to, and post acknowledgement in the MUST READ thread pinned at the top. Please do so before posting again. Thanks. Good post though.
  15. I am usually not with the reactionary crowd, but I have to say, I think Walker needs to go. The approach this team has taken to hitting has sucked for years now. Even with the changed talent this year, it started well, but then seemed to go downhill once things got going. No, this team is not like the 2007 team, in terms of players or talent. But the offense is going into a coma again, and the hitting approach is terrible. No one is adjusting. That tells me they aren't getting good data from the hitting coach to work with. Fire Walker, put Baines at hitting coach. Heck, AJP is the only "core" guy from last year that seems to have improved his hitting, and he was working with Baines over the winter, not Walker.
  16. QUOTE (the People's Champ @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:03 PM) NO REPLAYS WHATSOEVER!!! I don't care how many games we lose to bogus calls replays are ridiculous. Here's an idea GET BETTER UMPIRES, or hold them accountable for their blown calls. I never recall this many bulls**t call before these scab umpires came into the league. Ever since the umps held out, or whatever they did, and all got booted, thats when things went down hill. It's a conspiracy. Yowza. Passionate on the subject I see.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) or that Josh Fields character. Less useful in terms of positions, but still would have been better than Russell. I just see no logic to that move.
  18. Pablo has to hit there, because there was literally NO ONE on the bench at that point. Crede is technically available, but he was hurting bad enough that he wasn't even in the dugout. Which brings up the question I asked 5 days ago... why the hell did they bring up Russell instead of Getz/Bourgeois/Owens?
  19. I know that a 6 game losing streak isn't the end of the world, it will happen to most teams most years. But damn is this offense frustrating to watch. Dammit.
  20. Well I've watched the AB's since then, and so far, our hitters are indeed taking an up the middle or oppo approach. Nice to see. Hopefully it results in something good.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) Haha, what the hell is that OC? I missed his AB, what did he do?
  22. I was pushing as hard as anyone to have Lucy with the team instead of Hall. But let's have some perspective here - Hall is hitting .263, which is almost 30 points higher than the team's average. His arm is useless and he's not hitting for any power, but he's no automatic out.
  23. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) My real question is, can one of the blowup dolls play 2nd and hit 9th. At least it would take a few pitches. ...sorry, was that over the line?
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:04 PM) Officiating in baseball is 90 percent judgment calls based on each individuals personal view and opinion on the game. Is there anything less concrete in sports than a strike zone? I would never want replays or collaboration for balls and strikes. This sort of thing however, I think replays or collaboration are definitely called for.
