I didn't realize how much better it got in 2002 (the 11th year) yeah but with a change of owner ship doesnt that deal go out the window now.. us cellular owns comiskey park now......right???? They don't own Comiskey, the Illinois Parks Dept does. That's why JR had to get permission to sell the naming rights. Basically all they paid for was the ulitimate advertising. The only thing that changed in the lease was the they made JR extend the lease so that the Sox would be guarenteed to be there as long as the naming rights extended for.

I hope I don't see JR and try to kill him before the end of the season. The last thing I need is a murder trial...

the number is somewhere around 1.6 yes... but no, he gets more money if they dont show up from the state...... but i wonder now if all thats gonna change since us cellular took over??? theres gotta be something down on that deal, if they have the hold on the stadium for the next 25 years..........dont ya think.........if not then we should write the congress men and women and the gov and let him know were tired of payin for jr's s***......... The number where the state pays him is like 1.2 or 1.4 mil right? I was under the impression that over 1.6 mil the extra attendance more than paid for the rent that JR has to pay.

I would like to just say for myself I don't think Griffey was a steroid case. I just wanted to point out that tendon and ligament problems are the most common type of injuries for steroid cases.

I don't buy that at all. Griffey's injuries were not only freakish, but as a general rule could be attributed to some specific happening. I am not an expert on steroids, but I don't see Griffey as being someone on them. I think the guy has just had an incredible run of bad luck. It does happen. How do you explain the sudden increase in his power numbers? The guy was the #1 pick overall in the draft, its not like he was Brady Anderson coming out of no where. There were huge expectations of him.

Actually it is very symptomatic. The muscles have huge growth, while things like tendons ligaments and the like don't grow, and have huge stress put on them and those are usually things that give way.

I have a new conspiracy theory. I am starting to wonder because of the character of the players, and all of the contracts ending this year, if upper management is trying to tank this season, so that they have an excuse to bring no one back next year, and proclaim a youth movement to save money. That way they can look into the cameras and say "we tried, but it didn't work, so now we are going to take a different direction."

That is fools money.

Personally, I think there should be a uniform age for driving, alcohol consumption, purchasing cigarettes/porn and voting etc instead of having them be 16, 21, and 18 respectively. There is something f***ed up when kids can be drafted to fight in a war, but can't be at the age to drink alcohol. There are still people that drive like maniacs when they are older. Coming home one evening, there is a curve and a no passing zone near my house with a 55 mph speed limit. I am doing 60 and the car behind me passes me on a curve [illegal] and passes in a no passing zone [illegal] while going waaaaaay faster than I was [illegal] Turns out to be a squad car with no lights on. There is an adult that broke 3 different traffic laws and could have caused an accident. People drive like maniacs no matter what their age...some people can just get away with it and not get busted. Uniform driving laws would take the issue out of state hands where it should be. The farm states need to have younger driving laws than the urban states. It is so sad that some people don't have enough responsibility to give up the keys when they obviously need to.
