  1. Sorry, did that thread get deleted? I meant no offense by it. I just couldn't believe that someone would petition for Bubba Crosby as our starting center fielder over Brian Anderson and say that Crosby has the potential to be better than Rowand. I probably should have titled it better. Sorry again.
  2. The Tigers could also be interested in Branyan. They would go with a platoon of Branyan and Inge at third base.
  3. I wouldn't be stupid enough to use Patterson as a leadoff hitter. I'm not Dusty Baker. And yes, I would have rather had Patterson's .772 OPS and 32 SB than Rowand's .736 OPS and 16 SB. Of course, Rowand's 2004 season was much better than Patterson's 2004 season.
  4. I think that Patterson is really overrated and probably won't ever pan out but even though his good 2003 was only half a season, his full 2004 season was pretty good... Corey Patterson (2004 stats) .266 AVG .320 OBP .452 SLG .772 OPS 24 HR 72 RBI 32 SB He also plays good defense. I would have taken that offensive production over Rowand's 2005 production. I also would hope that Anderson could produce like that offensively in 2006.

  6. I would think that the Twins would be interested in Russell Branyan at $800,000. They still need a third baseman because Tony Batista sucks.
  7. Google with the Moderate SafeSearch off.
  8. The difference is that Patterson was actually fairly good for a season and a half. Borchard has never put up any good numbers. We would probably only get a PTBNL for Borchard so we are better off trying him as a fourth or fifth outfielder.
  9. You guys also have to factor in that you would be paying $3 million for Patterson to likely be a fourth outfielder.
  10. He's the Brazilian Willy Taveras but he can pitch too!
  11. Name: Anderson Gomes Born: 03/12/1985 Birthplace: Sao Paulo, Brazil Height: 6'1" Weight: 185 Bats: Right Throws: Right Gomes played for the Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS (Iguchi's old team) from 2002 to 2005. He was converted from a pitcher to an outfielder in 2005. He supposedly runs the 100-meter dash in less than 11 seconds and has a good arm. The Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS released Gomes on 10/30/2005.
  12. Drese is basically a step above Danny Wright. He's like a #6 starter. Giving up a crappy starting pitcher like Drese really isn't losing much at all. I agree that Patterson is a bum but just the fact that he's still fairly young (26 years old), has speed, and plays good defense in center field makes him have some trade value. The teams that are interested in Patterson are hoping he can turn it around with a change of scenery. He had a good half season in 2003 and a pretty good season in 2004. I guess teams feel that it's worth a shot to trade crap for a chance at a 30-30 center fielder. I think Patterson is a bust though.
  13. Drese had one good season with the Rangers in 2004 (14-10, 4.20 ERA). Other than that, he's been trash. He doesn't strike anyone out and gives up way too many hits. The reason he's with the Nationals right now is because the Rangers waived him.
  14. Ryan Drese really isn't good.
  15. This site could just be another MLBtraderumors.com so take it for what it's worth... http://mlbgminsider.blogspot.com/

  17. Whole lot of nothin' Ken Davidoff http://www.newsday.com/sports/printedition...ny-sports-print
  18. Why don't these players just go home and bang hot chicks after they get hammered? I don't get it.
  19. He would have been deserving of a Gold Glove if he had played the field in more than 93 games last season.
  20. I would take Vazquez over McCarthy if money wasn't a factor but I sure wouldn't take Vazquez over Garland or Contreras. Contreras has shown that he can pitch at the Cell (3.78 ERA at home in 2005) and Garland is a sinkerballer so he is perfect for the Cell. I'm a bit worried about how Vazquez will pitch at the Cell since he's prone to giving up the longball. I think he will pitch well on the road and poorly at the Cell, just like Freddy did when we first acquired him.
  21. I can't believe someone would actually worry about defense when discussing the addition of Bobby Abreu.
  22. The funny factor was too much to pass up.
