I don't have any hostility toward gays. I would just like to introduce controversial (Yes, it is controversial - We're arguing about it, aren't we?) issues to my children, so I can answer any questions they may have. This isn't just about gay relationships - I fell the same way about other things as well.

I seem to remember the word "typical" in there.

Just to throw my two cents into this part of the discussion: Just because it's someone else's choice and lifestyle does not make it right or even OK. That goes for any choice or any lifestyle.

Don't put words in my mouth. I'm comparing the introduction to homosexuality to kids without parental consent to other things that parents may not agree with. I'm not argueing whether or not I agree or disagree with a gay lifestyle. I'm argueing about introducing it to children. I do want to talk to my kids about it at home. That's the exact reason I don't want them exposed to it at school.

Thanks. I'm Christian. I guess that makes me an arrogant jerk?

Just curious. Is it neccessary for you to know what time it was in Australia? Do they do that often? Seems silly to me.

I'm trying to make a point that those that are for all kinds of diversity don't practice what they preach when it comes to Christianity. The classic "They're going to do it anyway" arguement. I fail to see how not wanting my kids to have access to this book in a public school has anything to do with hate. I'm not the one preaching diversity. Would I be stifleing diversity by not allowing chilren to view porn at school as well? Or read the KKK by-laws? Or come to school naked because he's a nudist? There's needs to be a line in society, especially in a tax payer funded elementary school.

It's sad that you had to include this in your post, but I understand why you did. Too many times you get attack for stating your opinion about something.

The same people that encourage these types of books on the basis of nondiscrimination and diversity are the same that won't allow a teacher to even offer abstinence as an option to preventing diseases and pregnancies. This isn't just accepting homosexuality and being tolerant of it, it's encouraging it. I wonder how many bibles are in this school's library. I would bet not one. Diversity? Ha!

    I absolutely do.
  13. Apu, cwsox - Hindsight is a wonderful thing. You can criticize the Reagan Administration for aiding Saddam and Bin Laden more than 20 years ago. Congratulations! The thing is, as we now know, it was a mistake. So, the question is: Do we sit back and cry about it or should we learn from our mistake and try to correct it? I say we correct it. About this war...I believe in my heart that it is a just action. I can only hope that Bush did it for the right reasons. He says he did. Only he knows. I support this war on principle reasons, not political. I supported it when Clinton bombed Iraq (though I questioned the timing with his Grand Jury testimony). All people deserve freedom. It is my belief that our freedom, our liberty, our country was given to us by God, and given to us for a reason. That reason was to spread his word - LOVE. Saddam did not "love" his citizens. I feel it was our duty, under God, to right his wrongs. Yes, innocent people died and continue to die, but less will be tortured, oppressed and killed in the long run because of what we have done. Yes, there are other dictators that are committing injustices around the world, and as far as I'm concerned, they're on the list and I'll support any President that calls them to the mat with or without the UN.
  14. Ummmm...what does any of this have to do with school? It's a disruption. It needs to go. I have no problem with this "art" in a studio, but it does not belong in a public setting on any college campus, let alone a Christian one.
  15. Everybody in the world thought he had WMD. That was not disputed. Even Germany and France didn't argue about that or the validity of the intel.
  16. Those "other ways" didn't work for more than 10 years. Even Clinton bombed Iraq (without UN or Congressional "approval") to try to get the point across to Hussein. Nothing worked. It was time to act.
  17. Yeah, when you f*** up and make a mistake, just look the other way. That'll solve everything. Sounds like a good policy.
  18. I think they were called Color Forms.
  19. It's a Jesus Dress-up. Remember the static things that you can put different clothes on a picture of barbie or someone else? Well, it's Jesus on the cross and you candress him up in a dress or a tutu, etc.
  20. This is offensive to me as a Christian. I want one!
