Way to pitch over it Bart!

QUOTE (fathom @ May 26, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) We've always defended Vlad this way. Remember the 2005 ALCS? He must have hit 10 grounders to Uribe playing in the same spot. This is true. IIRC, he hit a lot of choppers deep in the hole.
-
How is Alexei never in the right spot at SS? Seems likes he's shading up the middle every time there is one in the hole. And now he's WAY in the hole and Vlad hits one right up the middle.

Fantastic play by PK. 3-6-4 DP.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) weak grounder to 2nd base and he sits at 3B with his thumbs up his ass? let me make it clear i'm listening to the game via the score He singled to LF. He stole 2B. He made it to 3rd on an error.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) I missed Fields' single. Was it a broken bat, hang with'em for the pitcher, or was it an actual ball hit with some authority by Fields? It was a broken bat, but far from a bloop. Keep talking s*** about him. Keep saying he's not a baseball player. It seems to be working the past 2 days.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) Your starting 3B for the Chicago White Sox, Josh Fails! WTF? How does a base hit and SB warrant this post?
-
Fields just ran into one right there. What a horrible hitter.
-
WHAT WAS THAT YOU SAID ABOUT PODS' ARM!?!??!?!?
-
Anderson is putting some good swings in lately.
-
Not a bad inning for Bart.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Scott Podsednik is KILLIN EM!! You guys think he can keep this up for an entire season? Probably not.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) B freaking S. Anyone with any baseball knowledge at all will tell you that Nix has looked about 100x better than Fields has at bat. Nix has had what, not even 40 AB's? And he already has the same amount of homers as Fields. Nix has had sparatic AB's, and still looks a whole ton better than Fields. He still K'd 3 times yesterday and had another weak AB. So what, he ran into a couple. Talk to me when he shows any resemblance of a baseball player and I might reconsider my opinion of him. Dude, seriously, stop. We know you hate Fields. Maybe avoid this thread for a while? So every time he gets a base hit, it's going to be luck? He just ran into one. Give me a freakin' break.

I'm loving Pods right now.

QUOTE (almagest @ May 26, 2009 -> 09:02 PM) Maybe you want to look at those numbers again, because AJ actually hit .295/.332/.438/.770 with the Twins. Also, what about his year with the Giants? Is their hitting coach to blame for his .272/.319/.410/.729 year there? If so, hitting coaches should be the highest paid coaches in the game. No offense to you, but I'd take Baseball-Reference's word before yours. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/pierza.01.shtml

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 26, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Its not what he preaches. He's not going to make Jim Thome a singles hitter. Jermaine Dye has had a lot of success working with him as has Konerko who was dead in the water with Gary Ward. Carlos Quentin was a MVP guy last year. He's been hurt this season. If the White Sox acquired some .320 hitters, I think they would be just fine under Greg Walker. Its a fallacy that Walker has everyone swinging from the heals. Who has been a significantly worse hitter when they came to the Sox and who has been significantly better after leaving the White Sox and working with another hitting coach. Please take aging into consideration, and don't use Nick Swisher, because one of the reasons they dumped him was because he refused to listen to White Sox coaches. His hitting coach was Steve Swisher. The answer is nobody. Scott Podsednik hit significantly less homers with the White Sox than he did with the Brewers. Wow, this is TOO easy. AJ Pierzynski with the Twins: .301/.341/.447/.788 AJ Pierzynski with the Sox: .274/.315/.418/.733

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 26, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Josh Fields turns 27 this f***ing year. He's s***. I've played 0 Major League seasons, but guess what, I'm not going to make it. /thread my ass. Good post. Excellent point. So because Steve Harnden can't, neither can Josh Fields. Makes sense.

Podsednik LF Ramirez SS Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B Anderson CF Fields 3B Nix 2B Miller C Colon on the bump. Weird seeing 3 batters in the lineup hitting over .300.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 26, 2009 -> 07:26 PM) Right, PODS is just taking two small shuffle steps. Part of his problem at the plate has always been his balance ie: getting his front foot on the ground quickly, and a level swing plane. His shuffle somehow forces him to plant his feet and also to level off the bat. Its a pretty good exercise at home if you want to try it. Some of us will lead with our hips when we hit, I do this alot when I golf. Now try it with the two small shuffles very quickly, see how it keeps your shoulders back and level? The image of all of SoxTalk doing this in their living rooms makes me laugh.

QUOTE (chw42 @ May 26, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Tell Bartolo there's a nice buffet waiting for him in the clubhouse if he pitches well. He'll throw you 6 innings of shutout ball. Or just tell him to pretend he was with the Angels and it was 2005 again.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 26, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) Compare that wierd step motion with how Ichiro bats. He kind of gets that run at it too. Pods is doing pretty good I think. Ichiro's swing is much more of a fall/fade away swing than it is taking steps up in the batter's box. Ichiro's body falls towards first base on his swings, even if he does that weird little crossover step type thing, where as Pods is taking two small steps up in the box.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 25, 2009 -> 10:43 PM) sorry if this already asked/answered, but any update on Q? Not as serious as originally thought. He's day to day right now, but many think he'll probably hit the 15 day DL. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2009 -> 10:28 PM) Please explain the double by Fields. Outside fastball, went with the pitch, off the wall in right center. Probably a HR in the Cell.
