  1. QUOTE (fathom @ May 25, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) Have fun on the DL CQ. What kind of a f***ing statement is that?
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 23, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) I don't want Mitchell, so I'd be happy if the Twins take him. I'm sick and tired of athletes. I want baseball players. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 24, 2009 -> 03:48 PM) My ideal draft as of now: 23 - OF A.J. Pollock, Notre Dame 38 - C Tony Sanchez, Boston College 61 - OF Aaron Miller, Baylor 71 - P Kendall Volz, Baylor The Rest - A ton of pitching with a couple more OF, C, and corner infielders thrown in there for the flavor. Interesting. According to The Sporting News: 31. Chicago Cubs A.J. Pollock, Notre Dame, 2B/OF Versatile athlete continues to lead the Irish.
  3. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 25, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) What a f***ing joke. Brian has been giving some of the best at bats on the team the last few games, he had an awesome game yesterday, and you're benching him for the 09 version of Scott f***ing Podsednik. Nice signature.
  4. 7 IP, 4 H, 10 K, 1 BB so far. Still pumping the fastball up there at 92 in the 7th. He's definitely got a plus breaking ball.
  5. There is no way I put a reliever in my top 10 prospects unless the guy is the next Mariano Rivera. Nathan Jones? Come on now.
  6. Can we un-sign Brian Campbell? What a horrible defensemen.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 24, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) Apparently you didn't have time to see the new Terminator movie. What's not strange is losing the game in this fashion. Very normal, to the point where there's no real anger left. Jesus Christ dude, just stop talking already.
  8. Just for s***zengiggles, I'll post my top 25 through a month and a half or so into the season... 1.) Gordon Beckham 2.) Aaron Poreda 3.) Brandon Allen 4.) Tyler Flowers 5.) Dayan Viciedo 6.) Jordan Danks 7.) Dexter Carter 8.) Daniel Hudson 9.) John Shelby Jr. 10.) Brent Morel 11.) Carlos Torres 12.) John Ely 13.) Fernando Hernandez 14.) Jose Martinez 15.) Charlie Shirek 16.) Christian Marrero Some guys who I left off and just missed the list: Justin Cassel Lucas Harrell Eduardo Escobar Tyler Kuhn David Cook Kyle McCulloch Clevelan Santeliz Jhonny Nunez Derek Rodriguez
  9. I ADORE the peripherals on Carter... 44 1/3 IP 61 K 11 BB
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 24, 2009 -> 05:01 AM) Sounds like a future 1B/LF, but I do think he has a special bat and hopefully the hot stretch he is on now continues. Btw, Soxfan1 you been great with the AAP's lately, much appreciated. even if your name is a blatant rip off of mine No problem, and thanks for the acknowledgment. I'm really excited about a lot of guys in our system right now, and I pretty much check all the stats every day to see how the top guys are doing. And we both know who the original is...
  11. 3B Jon Gilmore Born: 8/23/88 Height: 6'3 Weight: 195 Bats: Right Throws: Right School: Iowa City High School Acquired from Atlanta Braves in Javier Vazquez trade. 2009 with the Kannapolis Intimidators... .236 AVG .288 OBP .324 SLG .612 OPS 148 AB 35 H 2 HR 11 RBI 7 2B 0 3B 16 R 10 BB 26 K 1 SB/1 CS The numbers don't look good whatsoever, but in his last 10 games he is 16-37, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 2B, 8 R. Defensively...he's just plain bad. 13 errors so far.
  12. It'd be REALLY nice to see him bring the strike out rate down, but as long as he is hitting in the 300s, can't complain too much.
  13. 2B Dale Mollenhauer Born: 6/26/1986 Height: 5'10 Weight: 170 Bats: Left Throws: Right School: East Carolina Drafted: 2007, 17th Round (539 overall) Played 2/3 of 2008 at Kannapolis before being brought up and finishing the season at Winston-Salem. So far in 2009, Mollenhauer has been a hitting machine. In 36 games... .331 AVG .393 OBP .457 SLG .850 OPS 127 AB 42 hits 2 HR 19 RBI 8 2B 1 3B 21 R 13 BB 17 SO 5 SB/5 CS 4 errors at 2B. The jury is still out on Mollenhauer. He's still only at A+ but he's proven that he can hit there with no problem. He doesn't have a ton of pop, as the most HR he's ever hit was 7 in his junior year at ECU. He could be someone to keep an eye on.
  14. It's good to see that he's displaying more power as well.
  15. As far as buzzer beaters go, Robert Horry vs the Kings > Lebron vs the Magic last night.
  16. One of my favorite for no particular reason... Report: "Shaq, that's a nice hat. Where did you get it?" Shaq: "You're mother gave it to me."
  17. "What? That's like slapping God in the face."
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ May 22, 2009 -> 04:45 AM) Flowers is hitting .268. I want better than that. As has been said, he only slipped because of signability issues but that Vazquez trade is a total joke right now. Flowers better start hitting again for that deal to look acceptable. Gilmore sucks. Flowers also has a .455 OBP. Ya, I'd like to see him get his average up, but he's getting on base a helluva lot.
  19. I hope the Padres win 27-26. 26 earned runs on Peavy in 0+ innings.
  20. Last 3 games: 4 hits, 4 walks, 1 HR, 1 SB, 5 SO.
  21. After going 1-15 in his first 4 games back, Beckham finally found his stroke again, going 4-5 with a HR and 2 RBI last night.
  22. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:28 AM) Dude on the score, brian farook or whoever he is said the rumors floating around per SI or Rosenthal or.. something/someone What Peavy's agent said it would take for him to waive his NTC: ALL SUITORS: Guarantee to pay all 4.5 years of his contract including the full 22 million for 2013 ALL SUITORS: Full No-Trade protection for the entirety of the contract WHITE SOX ONLY (Due to NL/AL Switch probably) Opt-out clause for any year of the contract after 2009 An opt-out clause every year? f*** THAT.
