QUOTE (rangercal @ May 10, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) Hard to believe about half of NBA fans compared Lebron and Carmelo back in 2003. Because Carmelo WAS better than Lebron in their rookie years.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2009 -> 01:50 AM) I love Ozzie but tonight would have been a good night to skip over Jose in the rotation. Didn't a rainout make that possible? Anything to keep him off the mound. Stupid call by KW/Oz tandem to pitch him. I really don't think giving him an extra 4 or 5 days would have mattered. He hasn't had anything all season. How can you blame it on Oz?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) If he was drafted now, you're right he might not win 6 championships. He might win 8. We would have won 8 if he didn't retire the 1st time. MJ would seriously annihilate the league today. No handchecks, no physical play, bad overall defense...

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2009 -> 01:14 AM) Pistons blog. Some Before/After Lebron photos there also. 1.) Don't EVER listen to any Pistons blogs. ESPECIALLY any pertaining to Lebron. They're still pissed he scored like 27 straight on them in the playoffs. 2.) Lebron came into the league at like, what, 18? 19? He's still physically maturing. He's due to get stronger/bigger/faster/etc. That's how things go.

QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ May 9, 2009 -> 01:07 AM) A lot of you mentioned how good Hawk was today What did he say exactly? "There's another $95 bat bill." "Louisville Slugger Maple bats cost $95." "Ash bats are cheaper than maple bats." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill." "These Rangers are a dangerous hitting team." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill." "There's another $95 bat bill."

The best thing to do right now is probably go completely radical. C Pierzynski 1B Konerko 2B Getz SS Beckham 3B Nix LF Fields CF Ramirez RF Quentin DH Dye

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 9, 2009 -> 01:01 AM) We looked great last night, then this? Oz needs to implode again. Was Harrison that good? Even AJP who has been hot, didn't get a hit. Is it possible this guy simply deserves credit? Harrison did nothing to shut this team down. He threw mostly fastballs and we just couldn't hit him. We have a horrible approach at the plate. Unless its a hanging breaking ball or a fastball down the pipe, we can't hit s***. Even then we don't get hits. Ask Alexei.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2009 -> 12:51 AM) Didn't enjoy the division title last year? What the hell does that have to do with anything? Yes, the stretch run was awesome, but what's the point if you're going to get clobbered in the playoffs? The point is to put your team in the best position to win the World Series. Are you telling me that you were satisfied with the way the team was put together last year and this year? Give me a f***ing break Balta.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 8, 2009 -> 08:23 PM) I don't like Jordan one bit, but even I'd take him over LeBron. Jordan had a killer instinct, not saying LeBron doesn't, but there are few athletes ever that probably had it as good or better than Jordan. This question can be taken many ways. Are we going with Jordan's accomplishments and LeBron's upside? I would take accomplishments over upside for my player any day. Although I highly doubt that Jordan would win 6 championships in his career if he was drafted next season. I'm not saying he wouldn't win any, but 6 would be hard to accomplish. As far LeBron, we don't know if his body will break down by the time he's 30 or whatever age. It probably won't happen, but it's hard to say because he could suffer an injury or something. How do you not like Michael Jordan?

QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 8, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Adebayor's basically had 1 good season, and that was last season. Done nothing to back it up. I'd rank em as this; 1 - Messi. Has overtaken Ronaldo this season IMO. Fantastic player. 2 - Ronaldo. Hasn't been as good as he was last season when he scored 42 goals, and I think he still wants to go to Real Madrid. 3 - Kaka. Doesn't do anything fantastically, but he's good at everything, very good. Class player. 4 - Ibrahimovic. And yeah I'll get called out for his lack of scoring at the European Level. But he's been a beast in Italy for many seasons and there aren't any other strikers around with his size and speed besides Adebayor who actually have good finishing ability. 5 - Gerrard. Can play anywhere in midfield and dominate. Was deciding b/w Xavi, Rooney and Fabregas for this spot. For me, Torres has slipped this season, and Vidic got found out against Liverpool, as he's no good against quick forwards. Vidic has 1 bad game ALL SEASON and he gets found out? He's the top defender in the world right now and as for quick forwards, I don't think he's had too much trouble really. Look what he did against Mutu of Romania. He's been a force outside of 1 bad game. And I don't see how you can have Kaka in there if you say yourself he doesn't really excel per se in one thing. Yeah, he's good at everything, but I don't think he's a top 3 guy right now. Ibrahimovic? Wow. He's a beast in Italy but he hasn't done a whole lot in any cup tournaments and he hasn't done anything internationally in a while.

It should have been done 2 years ago. Start to clean house KW. There are tons of teams who could use a Jermaine Dye or a Paul Konerko right now.
-
Seriously. We're REALLY bad right now. At this point, cut the cord and full on rebuild. Get the youngsters up here and let them grow. Poreda should be taking over for Count soon, if not Richard.

If Pods gets recalled, will Fields change his #?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 8, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) I don't see Wise hitting any better than Pods, in fact probably worse. I also disagree that Pods is not that fast anymore - he still runs the bases as fast as anyone (base STEALING is another topic). And defensively, I think Wise is only slightly better. I see these two guys overall as nearly interchangeable, with a slight edge to Pods. IMO, Wise > Pods. He was actually hitting really well in the games previous to getting hurt. And let's not forget the play he made that got him injured. -

Ya know, I don't like Cubs fans or Red Sox fans, I don't like Packers fans, I don't like Pistons fans, but the ones that piss me off more than any are the Red Wings fans. If that isn't the biggest bandwagon group of plans on the planet, then I don't know what is. Every f***ing person in Michigan is a Red Wings fan but 3 out of every 5 don't know s*** about hockey. They can name you Datsyuk and Zetterberg and Lidstrom, but they don't know s*** about the rest of the team or the league. Half of them think Yzerman still plays. The other half claim Chelios to be their own. I respect the ones who know what they're talking about, but f*** their fanbase as a whole. /rant -
I read this thread and understood about 40% of it. And I just watched the WoW South Park episode. Hilarious.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 8, 2009 -> 02:06 AM) Manny was spotted wearing one in the playoffs last year. But it appears most of the members of the White Sox are wearing some sort of mouthpiece. Buehrle took his out tonight before talking about his no hitter on sportsnite. I noticed AJ and Getz with them. Anyone able to shed some light on what the function of these small mouthpieces is? I can understand AJ as it'd protect him in case of balls off his mask, but I don't know about Getz or MB or others. Seems kind of pointless. Maybe it's a superstitious thing?

Although it's early, Buehrle getting the Cy Young
