  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) There's that one guy named Derek Jeter on their team. Oh yeah, that All-Star catcher. And the White Sox did not develop Jenks. That was the Angels. Did Jenks not come out of the Sox minor league system?
  2. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Come here. Let me give you a man-hug, you baby gorilla. Pick you up at 8 for "Brokeback Mountain"? LMAO. We're cool man. And I'll pass on the mountain part...
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) A lot of people like the deal, some don't, sf1 doesn't like the yankees.
  4. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Look. I understand what you're talking about. It's just that a dynasty coming from that type of "old school style" is rare, with only the Patriots as the example I can think of. Sure, when you can, that's the best-case scenario. But more often than not, you're not able to sustain that quality over a long period of time. The reason I bring up the Yankees is because, year in, year out, they compete for the championship. The White Sox, on the other hand, haven't proven that. Yet. They're on their way, but they need another few years in the playoffs before they can be considered in discussion with the New Yorks, Bostons, Atlantas, and St Louises of the baseball world. Also, at first I was more talking about their run in the 90s rather than now. Now, they do have problems in their system. But contending is not one of them, mostly because of that enormous budget. As to your comment about the Yankees s***ty farm system: who cares? Do you know who won the Triple-A championship last year? The year before? The Double-A championship three years ago? No. Because that s*** doesn't matter. Sure, it's good for clubs without a ton of money that have to make deals instead of buying their free agents, but for teams with huge budgets, its not that big of a deal. I can agree with all of that. For the most part, we're on the same page. But the payroll is the difference. Obviously, the White Sox can't afford to trade all their prospects because they don't have the salary. But if they keep winning, that would no longer be an issue. Cotts, Jenks, Buehrle, Garland, McCarthy, Anderson, and Crede were all brought up by the Sox in some way. The Yankee's have Cano and that's it I believe. They also have the advtange in payroll which pretty much nullifies their need for a minor league system. Yes, it is not imperative to a team to have great prospects but it sure doesn't hurt.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Yeah, but it will never happen, its just not in the cards. Our payroll is pretty much maxed out at this point. And im not worried about this anyway. Kenny and Ozzie wouldnt let that happen. Ozzie is the true leader of this team, and if anyone gets in his way, we will ship em to a crappy team in the NL central. The yankees dont do that. Which is exactly why I trust KW, Ozzie, and the rest of the coaching staff.
  6. Rowand and Rock, I understand that, but this guy is arguing that the Sox should be more like the Yankees. Now I see where he is coming from with the winning aspect of it and I know KW would never put the chemistry in jeopardy, but I want the Sox to be the Sox not the Yankees.
  7. Think about, I know what you're saying and understand what you're coming from but personally, I would not want to mimic the Yankees. I would rather have a team that battled to the end and won a World Series old school style than have a team with no chemistry, a bunch of superstars, and a lot of big ego's. The White Sox won the World Series in 2005 with clutch hitting, great pitching, defense, and team chemistry. Nobody hated anybody else on the team. None of out players tackled any cameramen. None of our players b****ed and demanded a trade. Sure Marte was a headcase but did you see him jumping around in the bullpen after PK's grandslam? And yeah, Carl was a nut too, and while he was mad about getting out of the 3rd spot, he put up and shut up and contributed. The Yankees are not a "team" like the Sox are. They are a bunch of individuals. And getting back to the minor leagues, the Yankees' have a pretty-much non-existant one.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) It might make you look a little more intelligent if during debates you didn't use names like the "Spankmees" or "Yankmees". Just a thought. Thanks, now run along.
  9. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) Whew. Thank God. For a moment I thought you were just retarded. Welcome aboard. Baseball is a pretty fun sport, and you chose to come along at the right time. Well done. :headshake How you can defend the Yankee's I don't know. Yeah, I am a big Sox homer but you are overrating the Yankmee's. Internally- they suck big ones. On the outside, while they might be winning, they still havent done s***. Good luck with Jeter/ARod/Sheff/Giambi/RJ/Etc...
  10. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) Honestly, have you watched baseball any other season besides this last one? All of your opinions have the White Sox as the greatest dynasty of all time, and the Yankees a bunch of nobodies. As to the chemistry thing: Who cares if they're close in the clubhouse? I don't give a s*** if they stay after, play cards all night, attend the same whorehouses ... that's just good for stories. All I care about is if they win or not. Maybe I was wrong when I said "winning breeds chemistry". What's more accurate is the chemistry of winners is never questioned. Yes, 2005 is the only season of baseball I have ever watched. I am a bandwagon fan and only like the Sox because they won the World Series. Tey are the best team EVAR.
  11. Obviously, the bullpen is running a buit thin now so KW is going to have to get someone to fill Viz/Marte/El Duque's position in the pen. Dotel sticks out in my mind. Alan Embree seems to be the only "decent" LH available. Hammond is there. Hasegawa is there. Danny Graves, Buddy Groom, Matt Herges, Steve Karsay, Kas Ishii, Matt Mantei, Braden Looper, Terry Mulholland, Ramior Mendoza, Jeff Nelson, Mike Stanton, and Kelly Wunsch are all available. But KW might keep it in thwe organization and bring uo Munoz or Baj or Diaz. Thoughts?
  12. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) You know what breeds chemistry? Winning. Would you rather have s*** chemistry and win the World Series? Or have the greatest, most likeable players and be the Pirates? Money doesn't cure everything, it just makes the odds more favorable. If winning breeds chemistry than why aren't the Yankee's the closest team in the clubhouse? I'll tell you why. They bring in big name players and coaches expecting them to be able to coexist with their ginormous ego's. You're right, the White Sox are far from the Yankee's "class." Far higher.
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) 11 straight postseason berths. 6 WS appearances in 11 years including 4 titles. 2003 they were in the WS, 2004 they were a couple of outs from making the WS, they won 95 games this year. 9 times in the last 11 years they have won 90 plus games. 3 times in the last 4 years they have won 100+ games. Interanally, we do not want to be the Yankees at all. They have ZERO chemistry, have a s*** minor league, and think money cures everything. And since the White Sox have more WS championships in the 21st century than the Yankees.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) I was a little sad getting rid of viz but to be honest it won't be that hard to find a suitable replacement for him. Well, now that Viz is gone, I see Dotel as KW's next target. Jas called that one.
  15. IMMSMC, our bullpen looks like: McCarthy Cotts Politte Hermanson Jenks
  16. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) You mean we don't want to emulate the most successful baseball franchise ever? Yeah. You're right! f*** success! What have they done lately? When was the last time they had one of their own prospects that they groomed for years come up to the bigs? What has a $200 million dollar payroll done for them?
  17. I just don't get what the direction of the bullpen is...
  18. QUOTE(rcpweiner @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) You, sir, are retarded. Do you honestly think we'd be better off without making either of those deals? Meaning that, first off, we pretty much lose Konerko to the Angels because he doesn't get the chance to play with his idol. Thusly, our best hitter is Carl Everett (if we sign him) and maybe Frank (if he's healthy, which is a bigger risk than Thome). And instead of Javy as currently our number 5 pitcher (giving the Sox the best rotation in baseball), we throw McCarthy out to the wolves. And while he has shown he should be able to handle it, Jon Rauch and Danny Wright were can't-miss prospects as well. Same thing with Joe Borchard. A prospect is just that: a prospect. If the game was about winning Triple-A championships, then I'd be upset. But it's not. It's about putting together the best team in the majors. And since the Sox have a unique window of opportunity right now to go on a nice run, it's worth risking the POSSIBILITY of these guys being future stars in order to get proven talent. Winning Now = More Attendance = More Money = Bigger Budget = More Free Agents Signing Here = Less Need For Minor League Projects = Winning More = Spankee's Way of Doing Things.....we do not want to be the Spankees.
  19. Holy f***ing s***. What the hell is KW doign to the bullpen?
  20. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) Garland for Ken Griffey Jr??? Garland for Andruw Jones???
  21. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) I don't have a clue, but a phone call or email to grandstand will get you an accurate answer to your question. I sent them an email and they said call. I call and was on hold for over 2 hours...

    Computer Geeks!

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 01:39 AM) The RAM upgrade is probably your best bet. If you're running Windows XP you probably have an NTFS filesystem so defragging won't have a huge effect anyways. Also is PC2100 the speed of your existing RAM in the system? If it's slower, then that's not the speed you want. Finally, there used to be this site by Blackviper which listed a ton of services XP runs by default that you can turn off safely. That site is gone but thankfully the same information is mirrored here. This should also free up a good chunk of RAM. Nope, I called the BestBuy Geek Squad and they helped me out. The PC2100 is just the spec of the ram that applied to different motherboards.
  23. Where is WHarris1 when you need him? He's going to be needing a new siggy.
  24. What is KW going to do with the bullpen? Really.
  25. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 02:19 AM) Lol I was just playing along with what everyone else was doing Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight......
