QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) He made Pujols look retarded on one swing but Pujols got a hit off him that same ab on a tough pitch. Eh, its Pujols....what can you do!?! I'm proud. Hopefully Garland gets an inning and does as well as MB....if not better!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) Struck out 3 (Including DLee), 1 double play, 3 hits given up - Abreu, Pujols, and Ramirez. Nice. Good job MB! Did he make any bad mistakes or at all make a mini-fool of himself? Alright, Tub-O-Go gets out of it.

Beltran very well could have gone home with Vlad's slow ass. f***ing Colon better not blow this for MB!

Can somweone briefly give me an overview of what MB did in his 2 innings? I unfortunately came in from my jog in the bottom of the 2nd only to see Tejada's HR...

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Does Kenny Mayne still work for ESPN??? Is this the only thing he does??? He usually does baseball specials but only with comedic value to them. He is also still working with the horse racing them with ESPN as someone mentioned. All he does is make funny "specials" when ESPN is out of stuff or it was a slow day in sports. I loved the tidbit he did with the Red Sox/Yankees in ST. Kenny Mayne: Don't you just hate those darn Bostonians with their weird accents and belief on the curse of the Bambino? Boston.....phhhhf." Yankees Pitcher Tanyon Sturtze: "Dude, I'm from Boston." or Kenny Mayne: "Spring Training. Red Sox. Yankees. Do you think this game is going to decide the season?" Johnny Damon: "........................................"

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) I'm mixed on this. Willie has really soured on me because it seems his head isn't into the game, that being said he's a very valuable player because of his pinch running capabilities and his defensive ability. EDIT: By the way, I'm absolutely thrilled to have Ross back, I've been waiting for his return for a while. We're getting some awesome in season additions with Ross, Dam, and the Duke. Only 1 error in 21 games...

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) In the new American spirit of Eminent Domain... I hereby appropriate this vacant lot of an abandoned thread and declare myself THE WINNER!!! Seriously, what the f*** happened. I come in once in a while and check and there are no updates lol.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) Frank Thomas. Just to shake his hand. Of course...he's probably strong enough to fracture my fingers with the handshake, but it'd be worth it. Haha, I would never repair my hand. Instead, brag to others by saying "Frank thomas broke my hand..............b****!"

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) I knew from the moment that he gave that $100 to Borchard that I was gonna like this kid. I think that A.J. probably realized that if he didn't get along with people, it would cost him a lot of money. A lot. If nothing else, that's probably some motivation...assuming the knee story is true. I can understand him not getting along with Tomko, but the knee story is a bit over the top. Ozzie posts on SoxTalk!?!?!?!

QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) weve beaten 57 teams Uuuuum, no. We've beaten like 15 teams a bunch of times.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) At least you're honest. Just be confident. Whats the point of lying? I'm positng on an internet message board with fellow Sox fans? Where is lying gonna get me???

It wouldbe between MB and Frank. MB because he is so laid back and cool and he is a noutddors guys so we would have lots to talk about. IF not, Frank because he is a livinglegend in my mind. Just to be in his prseence would be a humbing honor.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) It all comes down to taste. Some people like Vin Scully because he tells you about the game in pictures. Some people like watching it with a member of the family, like Hawk. Personally, I like the Hawk-a-roo. He is fun, knowledgable, experienced, not afraid to take a jab at himself, and a fan. Also, remember, an announcer has to talk to fans of all ages. NOt just knowledgable fans like us, but kids watching with their parents and non-fans that are watching with others. When I was in Broadcast journalism in college, you have to assume the average education of people watching the news is 8th grade. One more thing. Please don't tell me that if you had to do that job everyday, you would do it better. A lot of baseball is tedious and monotonous. But when you have a Southern gentleman in the middle of a midwestern city bringing his Hawk-isms into a game, it brightens the broadcast. You don't have to like him, but you should respect him. HAWK.........YESSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Excellent post Dybber. As cheesy as it may sand as as homerich as it may sound, Hawk is one of my inspirations. I, as Dybber did, am planning on taking Broadcasting/Media/Journalism in College and pla non attedning Grand Valey State UNiversity to study there. As a kid, I loved listening to Hawk and Wimpy and now I love listening to Hawk and DJ and aspire to be just like them. I, personally, believe Hawk is the luckiest man on Earth. To be able to interact with the players, watch every single game in VIP, and broadcast on TV and be known to the fans...it wouldonly be an honor. Take it from a kid who doesn;t get the opportunity to go to 50 games a year and really admires every second of baseball, Hawk is the man.

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) I think we need to get SoxFan1 a girlfriend. Unfortunately, yes lol. Been a while lol. Why lie?

Pretty muc hall of those are right on. Other snubs (from a homer standpoint) are Politte and Hermy. Politte > Timlin, Hermy > Pettitte IMO
