It was "Jonah", BTW. And it's Larry the Cucumber, and his superhero character is "Larry Boy", and is quite hilarious (with the Batman take offs and all). Yeah, Jonah, sorry. The kids had it on in the back of the van and all I coould make oyt was Maccabites this and Somewhozits that, and I made sure the tape got left back at Grandma's. My kids watch Little Bear, Care Bears, Arthur, etc., and they all have a very positive message but manage to remain secular rather than supernatural. There is much more uplifying kid's programming on now than when I was growing up to be sure.

Yeah, I've seen a couple and I think they have some funny bits -- there's one where the cucumber thing is a superhero and he's fighting someone who is giving everybody angry eyebrows. Then, of course, they ruin it by having him shout out "Remember, God loves you" or some other such thing. The Noah movie was the one that was over the top. Got into Old testament geneology --for a preschool audience?!

We got a Sox winner and I don't care to get into much else, but there's plenty of quality programming to instill family values without shoving pre-school level Christian findamentalism down the throats of kids that might actually buy into it. Now that is dangerous.

Your VeggieTales avatar is probably a good indicator of where your convistions lie. I couldn't get those awful brainwashing tapes out of my kids reach when I got a load of them. There is a large and ever-growing body of evidence that homosexuality is not a choice, nor is it any sort of abomination, just the way some people are born. There are nutty groups that preach that gays can be converted to straightdom, or at least can learn to curb their desires, but that's a reflection of their hang-ups and noone else's

I'm sure I didn't just read someone say "choosing to be gay." Right up there with choosing to be human, choosing to be male, choosing to be blonde... Come on...
