  1. Ishiro Honda's 1954 film Gojira (Godzilla to you and me) still kicks an insane amount of ass even after 50+ years.
  2. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 02:56 PM) I just realized I forgot to put Jethro Tull on my list. Oh well, they're probably not making this list anyway, but I should have had them on my list for Aqualung alone They are on my list probably up at number 5 or 6. Lifelong Tull fan and if they don't make the list I will hold you personally responsible. That said, I'm still kicking myself for leaving Led Zeppelin of my top 20. Not that they won't make the SoxTalk cut in a walk. . . they just should have made my list as well. The Dorrs were another one that probably should have just squeaked in but didn't.
  3. Ghandi to Godzilla in 3 seconds flat.
  4. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) I used to leave a block away from him. Never saw him around very much though. Cool, where was that?
  5. QUOTE (G&T @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) I guess I should reserve judgment but I can't imagine that working. Just seems like a waste of glass space that could be better filled sith more Guinness.
  6. Guinness is already a perfect dessert on its own. Also a perfect dinner, lunch, breakfast, or mid-day snack.
  7. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 17, 2009 -> 04:49 AM) WTF happened to Lohan? She used to be hot...that chick is gonna hit the wall big time by the time she's 30 judging by her recent pics.
  8. This Ranglum cocktail is crazy good! The Gonçalo Monteiro version called for Goslings and J Wray, but the only Goslings I have at the moment is 151. So yesterday, I subbed Myers (with a splash of the 151), and tonight I'm using Coruba. I've done the drink with both 0.5-oz and 1-oz of J Wray, and they are both very good. My tweak of the hamburg recipe is: 2 oz Coruba 0.5-1.oz J Wray 0.75 oz fresh lime juice 0.5 oz homemade falernum 0.25 oz simple syrup According to an online video, Monteiro shakes this on ice and strains over ice. I'll usually go lowbrow and shake and pour without straining (as is proper for most of the drinks I favor), but I'm just straining this one into a cocktail glass like an old school daiquiri. The flavors are complex enough to open up nicely as the drink warms, but it's a good enough drink that it's not sitting around long enough to get too warm.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 11:34 PM) I vividly recall my single uncle driving me in his Porsche in the early 1980's to the neighborhood taverns in an evil (but effective) attempt to exploit my cuteness and get himself laid as many times as possible. I was 6 years old during this time, and I distinctly remember Once in a Lifetime blasting over his 8-track player... This my friend, is how I was introduced to The Talking Heads (and why they will always remain one of my favorites... Well, it certainly sounds like your uncle's head was talking to him.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 11:23 PM) This is just pure blasphemy. Superunknown is an amazing album, but it doesn't top Ten. And Badmotorfinger and Down on the Upside are solid albums, but don't come close to Vs. (which is in and of itself one of the best albums of the 90's), or Vitalogy. And personally, I think Yield and Riot Act are awesome albums themselves. Certainly Pearl Jam has gone off the reservation a bit, but they have forgotten more amazing music than Soundgarden has ever made... Just think how much higher up Pearl Jam would be if you submitted a list. . .
  11. I totally think Ni should considered a Favorite One-Hit Wonders list for a future installment. Steam had better be on 75% of all SoxTalkers lists.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 11:19 PM) Yeah, the Talking Heads rock...definitely would have been on my list had I made one. Congratulations on your lameness, sir.
  13. QUOTE (Felix @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) I'm shocked that they were this low in the list. David Byrne is awesome, and Stop Making Sense is arguably the greatest concert film ever. Fantastic album, too Also, Byrne's solo stuff (and non-Talking Heads material) is pretty good as well. I especially like My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, which he made with Brian Eno. I was a little miffed at the Wiki synopsis for completely blowing off Adrian Belew's extended contributions to the ensemble in the Stop Making Sense era as well as his awesome presence on Remain in Light. I know he was just a hired gun, but I loves me some Belew. Come to think of it, In addition to listing Adrian Solo/The Bears in my top 20, I also have him included by association three additional times with FZ, KIng Krimson, and Bowie. I could have included Laurie Anderson for the superfecta.
  14. Ken Ober from one of the best game shows ever, MTV's Remote Control, found dead in his home. Age 52, no cause of death given.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) I've got nothing against Soundgarden, they'd probably have appeared on my list, they just would be behind PJ. I will say that if Creed or if STP wind up ahead of Pearl Jam, i'm just going to delete these threads. Don't take part in the democratic process and then b**** about the election results. How typically American.
  16. Unless there's a mystery surprise waiting in my sox after the end of the three-way it's all good.
  17. Racy stuff. . . Kenny a former sex trade worker. . . the Sox trying to hook up in a three-way. Yikes.
  18. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Nov 16, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Pure originals! I'm thrilled they made the list! Soxtalk = Taste! You and me are two of the three Soxtalkers that had Talking Heads on their lists — I wonder who the other bloke with good taste is. Hey Ni. . . For previous list countdowns, didn't you include the names of all teh SWoxTalkers that included a particular entry, and not just the poster who scored it in the highest slot? I thinks that's what you did, and I liked that. At any rate, two of my bands have made the cut so far. yea.
  19. In Cook County, it's probably because the coroner is the first guy that gets a crack at signing the stiffs up as Democrats so they can vote in the next election.
