He seems to have discontinued the use of "They've got some of my money in (town name)" as an add-on to "(Town name)- yes!".

"He's gotta bow his neck" is new for 2003.
  3. Specifically, cachaca is a distillate of sugar cane. The churrascaria Fogo de Chao here in Chicago makes a good caipirinha; Mambo Grill, Cafe Laguardia, and several others also have them. Very tasty.
  4. I have an extra for tomorrow night's tilt. 28th row, left field "lower reserved", sec. 159. Face value ($24)- I won't pass on the TicketMaster gouging I was subject to. I could bring it by your tailgate, if anyone needs it.
  5. I always wondered what the diminutive erstwhile second baseman of the Sox and M's was up to these days.
  6. You bat an Jimenez first and a Thomas second, followed by Konerko in that key #3 hole, and you got yourselves your bunch of 5-4-3 inning enders. Generate some excitement out there.
  7. Borchard is still "long" and you all know the numbers he's put up in Charlotte this year. Given those two factors, it's hard to understand the Pollyannaish sentiments being expressed here.
  8. I think our lead on Detroit is comfortable enough so that we can do such tinkering and experimenting. However, Cleveland does concern me.
  9. By "make the transition", do you mean maintaining those excellent numbers he's amassed in Charlotte this year? Since this is a rebuilding year, this is a good time to get him some big league ABs. Then he'll be ready for the Championship Season in 2005 when all of the Sox youngsters and prospects have developed.
  10. Here's an quote (caps mine): ''It will be tough, especially in the American League, to get your bench players playing time, and especially when a young player is coming up,'' (Manuel) said. ''[borchard] will play. He's a good athlete, and I THINK HE CAN SURVIVE." Survive? If by "survive" does he mean Borchard can maintain the same excellent numbers he's posted in Charlotte this year? I'd think a slight dropoff would be acceptable since he's hitting big league pitching now.
  11. Valentin isn't even Mendoza vs. lefties over the past three years. I'd be curious to know if any other teams run a regular SS out there with that type of stat. If you already have one of the Sox' top hitters Graffanino (heh) in the lineup, this becomes a real problem in late innings.

  13. This Detroit team is a lot tougher than their record indicates, but I still don't think they can catch the Sox.
  14. They must think Borchard and his 29Ks/134ABs and .224 BA is bored down in Charlotte.
  15. The topic name was "Blatant Exploitation of Soxtalk by World Crossing", and I referred to the World Crossing folks as "prattling mooncalves", so it couldn't have been because of inflammatory content.
  16. Yes- what indeed did happen to the topic already started by JohnJeter? Since I'm not paying for this service, I have no right to complain, but I am curious as to what happened there.
