  1. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 25, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) Good call. He'd have more value if he's a] healthy and b] another team has an injury. I don't think El' will be traded. I think El' & Jose are linked together. In many ways El' is Jose pitching coach. He'll be fine as a sport starter and long relief guy.
  2. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) good question. I am curious as well. I know to vcr is really easy but not sure about dvd I have a DVD/VCR recorder. I've had it about a year, I assume they cost less than $300 at a electronic store. When something is Tivo'd I simply play it back and press DVD record and it burns on the DVD. It will record whatever is being played .. so sometimes I click over to anyone game & have several parts of games on one DVD. I usually use the 2 hour record. I know others have better equipment, but this works for me. To have a DVD of the world series with our radio announcers would be great, but I don't have the equipment or knowledge for that.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) One other thing to keep in mind: in becoming a 2-hole hitter, he adjusted his style of hitting not just swing-to-swing, but as a whole. That means that he took himself out of his usual swing and adapted, for the sake of the team. It would have been difficult in some given at bat to change back to his natural, more leveraged hitting style. Not impossible mind you, but more difficult. Therefore, I think it's likely that if he gets to hit 6-7-8 somewhere, he can regain a hitting style more natural to him, and probably improve his numbers dramatically. Your observation is possible. However, the point I'm trying to make is to assume his numbers will "improve dramatically" is at the very least open to debate. And to assume someone else can step into the two slot, and meet or equal Tad's production in that slot is also questionable.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Methinks indyman ain't from around these parts. Whatever stat you compare it with, when he is batting with a man on first he's hitting over .300, slugging percentage over .500. That doesn't appear to be much of a distraction.
  5. The CW is Iguchi would be a much better hitter if he wasn't batting second. By batting second he is distracted, and has to give him self up all the time. What do the facts say? Batting Average with man on 1st: .326 (slugging .511) Batting Average with none on/none out: .205 It doesn't appear batting second hurts Iguchi. He actually maybe getting better pitches to hit.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) If Rowand is playing too deep in CF that's the fault of Ozzie and the coaching staff (Harold, specifically, iirc). They should position the outfielders where they want them to play. Most centerfielders play too deep. Think about the number of hits going over a centerfielder's head ... very few. Think up how many land 5-10 feet in front of them .. quite a few.
  7. In regards to the previous comment that only Tino & Hermanson didn't have a productive series ... an very underated play was actually the strikeout by Hermanson after he allowed the hit. If he didn't get composed and come back and get the strikeout the game could have been lost.
  8. Quote: "Yes, the games were close, but they weren't exciting. I'm calling it the third-worst World Series of the ESPN era (since 1979), behind the completely and utterly forgettable affair between the Orioles and Phillies in 1983 and the disastrous Earthquake Series in 1989 between the A's and Giants." David Schoenfield, ESPN My question .. Last year's games had Boston scoring in the first in every game...and had no lead changes in the whole series. But ... the 2005 was boring???? Just because it didn't have the Yanks or Red Sox?
