Not all that old for AA actually, he progressed fast and kind of stuck in AA, I think he has a chance, better stuff coming to us than most of last years guys who have done well, like Pacheco, Meaux, Francisco, An. Gotta like our scouts odds.

Nice record in previous years. In Pioneer league after he was drafted in 1999, 1-3 4.312 ERA in 9 games, 8 of em starts. 40 IP, 36 hits, 24 BB and 36 Ks with .240 batting average against. In 2000, at Clinton in MWL, 11-3 with 3.96 ERA in 26 games, all starts. 148 IP, 123 Hits, 89 BBs and 159 Ks. .228 average against. In 2001, started off in High A in Cal league, 5-3 2.11 ERA in 10 starts, 60 IP, 45 Hits, 31 BBs and 73 Ks with .208 Average against. Promoted to AA and finished 7-2 in 17 starts with 4.12 ERA, 98 IP, 96 Hits, 71 BBs and 87 Ks and .262 average. In 2002, in AA, 37 games, 12 starts, 1 save. 5-7 record with 3.92 ERA. 110 IP, 99 Hits, 54 Walks and 114 Ks. .245 Average against. This guy has decent stats, cannot believe we got him for DJ.

Bounds was drafted out of a Texas HS and as Rex said was signed as a draft and follow. Still young, but does need to move up. I want to say he was middle round pick, I do not have my info in front of me (its at work dang it), but I think he was like a 20th or 30th rounder.

Ginter used last option this year, next year he has to stick.

Daniel Haigwood tore ligaments in his knee and is out for the season, I heard this from a very good source. Ryan Rodriguez is the other, he and Ruddy Morales (another starting pitcher) and Eric Keefner (a 1Bman) are on DL too. Not sure what ails Rodriguez, he was supposed to be the better of he, Haigwood and Rodriguez. I guess the good news is Haigwood is not elbow or shoulder related. BTW, 2 more Cub prospects ailing. One is Petrick or Patrick with tired arm, the other is Beltran (closer at Iowa being shopped). He has shoulder problem. They must have 7 or 8 high profile prospects laid up right now.

Nanita is supposed to have a real strong arm but so is Anderson.
-
Never heard Crede assoicated with Boras, but I could be wrong.
-
Rex, I hope Shoe don't see this, ha ha.

We drafted McCarthy last year, not a real high pick, tall kid from a Colo JC, he was one of our top 3 pitchers in Arizona Rookie league last year and only one of the 3 throwing this year (other 2 on DL). He should be moving up soon, kind of old for Rookie league, tho this Rookie league is considered High rookie league.

Still amazed people call Webster a 5 tool players, he is not. He does not even project as one, he does not have the arm and with his swing does not project for power.

What happens if we fail to make the playoffs yet?

But, at least we can say we tried to win. -
Webster does not have more upside than Reed. I saw the guy up close this spring, not a good arm, no power, no potential of power with the swing he has. He is a quick (not a burner), athletic singles hitter who plays ok D with ability to be a good CF. I do not project Reed as a CF, more like a LF, but I take Reed over him any day.
-
Sweeney I think will sign, he is enjoying summer HS league and Sox are letting him. I think he is 90% certain to sign. If we lose Rupe and other pitchers, even if we do not, we need to ensure we sign Veal and Moviel or Brooks too.
-
Chisoxfn, Webster is NOT a 5 tool players. He does not have power and does not have real good arm. I like him, but Anderson and Nanita will be better. I think Rupe is the guy with highest ceiling of the lot.
-
Nanita and Anderson are going to fly past Webster who has had a solid low A season, but not worthy of being top 10 prospect. I think he goes in deal to Texas, out of 8 players listed I think Rupe is the one I want to have Texas pass on.

Kong for Griffey (Everett to DH)

Enough with the negative vibes Jim, man, you gotta look at it with a little bit of positive enforcement. That negative s*** will kill ya.
-
All are supposed to be under 25, that takes Miles off it for sure. And I thought all were supposed to be mid level prospects, I think that takes off Ginter and Borchard.
-
Here is my take, list one is 4 players. Andy Gonzalez, Brian Miller, Lamura and Spidale He can have any two and that is it, or take one and then take 2 from next list Rogo, Pedro Lopez, Reynoso and Wyatt Allen. Something similar to that scenerio. Only ones I would really hate to see taken, Spidale and Lopez. Any of the others are ok, even though they are decent prospects.
-
A's oughtta have good pitching in low minors, all his pitchers are older than competition cause he hates to draft HS kids. I am no impressed.
-
Chisoxfn, As long as not Honel, Cotts, Wing, Webster, Reed, (one of Lopez and AGon) they can have any 2 of our prospects. Go for it this year, we can always draft more prospects. If we lose Miller and Lamura, maybe we dig down and sign Veal and Moviel to make up for it.
-
Jim, correct on arbitration. That is a big if, that we would get picks.
-
Rex, the key to both trades is smart baseball and Defense. ARow and Harris cannot play CF like Everett. ARow is a corner OF, nuff said, he can back up the other two guys. Harris someday could be a very good CF, he needs to play it in AAA or winter ball to get better. I do not want him learning on the job when we are fighting for a division title. Anything Everett hits will be a bonus, and he should hit better than the production we have gotten out of CF this year. We dump two dumb ballplayers, Rios and DJ, nice guys sure, but they did not play the game smart. Nuff said, I hear ya, but disagree.

I used to for years and years, but chance like this year are too far and few. Most prospects never make it. We are keeping the very hi-profile ones (have to give up something and Ring was a good one, but not one of our top ones). We are going for it ladies and gents and that is all we can ask. We can always rebuild the system, if we trade off enough minor leaguers, maybe we will even stretch out the pocket book enuf to sign a couple that look unsignable since we need to get some players on the rosters. Please, forget about what could be and lets go for it. I am 46 years old, been cheering for Sox since early 60s and this is the FIRST time I have seen us make this type of commitment. Almost like having a Steinbrenner in charge.

I love the trade, KW has sent a message, we are going for it. We can always restock the minors, that is least of our worries.
