Eddie Young and Bo Ivy are replacing Webster.

I have the 1957 Hank Aaron where he is batting LH. That is worth a lot (or is it 1956), I think it is 57, I have not looked at it in years, in safety deposit box. Same with my other Nolan Ryan rookie card. I have 1964 Pete Rose, I have Fisk's rookie card. Several Minnie Minoso, Early Wynn, Billy Pierce. Gary Peters and Pete Ward rookie cards.

This is his 3rd season in Rookie ball, if he can get it together, maybe he can make it. Someone on another thread said he throws high 90s to 100. No way. He is big and throws hard, but not that hard. I have liked him, wish he could progress.

Not same kid, the guy on Great Falls roster is 22. Not the same. Maybe an older brother to help get the kid to sign :-)

Found this is Sox Minor League transactions under Great Falls 07/15/03 Brent Hodges -- New Contract We took a very highly rated kid in 13th round named Wes Hodges. Any ideas if this is same kid??? I think he may be one of the top players we picked if you read up on him. Hope he is one in the same, probably not.

I have Topps cards back to about 1953 or 1952. Not many way back then, but most of the Sox from 1956 on to present day. Started collecting as a kid in about 1963 and have almost all from 1964 thru about 1968, then sometime in the 1980s I started buying complete set, all still unopened. Have only sold 1 card. Nolan Ryan rookie card, 1968 with he and Jerry Koosman on it for the Mets. Bought it by buying packs for nickel or dime and had doubles of it, friend of mine owns a baseball card shop (or did) and he had a guy who wanted it bad. I sold it for 750 dollars (could have gotten more). Not a bad investment for a penny back in 1968 eh.

Lubisich did voluntarily retire, he was pissed due to no promotion after fine year in Kanny last season, he has been back at least a month or more, he is proving he deserves to pitch in high A ball.

Man, I cannot disagree with you more Rex. You are much to hard on Everett, and don't go saying his career is 2 monster seasons, he has contributed already for us, some big RBIs. I know we gave up young talent, but you really have a grudge vs Everett. I know the kids we gave up are not the reason you hate the trade, but I guess we will have to wait and see if Everett helps us win. So far I would say he has.

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Ticker) -- Guye Senjem and Alejandro Diaz each drove in a run in the top of the eighth inning to lead the Chattanooga Lookouts to a 2-1 victory over the Birmingham Barons. Senjem singled home Jim Chamblee, who opened the inning with a double, and Diaz produced a run-scoring single to score Wilmy Caceres, who pinch ran for Senjem. Josh Hall (6-7), who struck out 13 batters in his previous start, allowed just an unearned run and four hits over seven-plus innings, striking out seven, to pick up the win. Kris Keller worked a scoreless ninth to post his third save for Chattanooga, which won its third straight game. Neal Cotts (8-5) faced the minimum, allowing only one hit, over the first seven innings but gave up two hits and both runs in the eighth without retiring a batter to suffer the loss. Scott Bikowski hit an RBI single and a double for Birmingham, which lost for the fifth time in its last six games.

Rehab start, he was in AA at Birmingham last all last season and this season.
-
s***, my bad, now I have even less enthusiasm over this guy, I thought he was an SEC guy with those stats. Cause I know how highly you regard that conference :-)
-
Yes LDF, King was not rated highly, had good stats, but not much else going for him. He got real hot in SEC tourney and we must have put a lot of stock on that.
-
How can Wunsch be FA, his rookie year was 2000, you have to have 6 years in first right???
-
I saw same think in Sporting News' last issue, so Boyd may have written that for them or stole it.
-
We took a couple guys who were not rated that highly because we could sign them, I do not care for that tho. Kelly and King were stretches I think.
-
The Sporting News ranking, big deal. I will like to see where BA puts us. 15th is about where we deserve to be right now.
-
We stated Gray would play 2B when we drafted him, he started season there and only moved to 3B when The Schnur went down with injury.
-
He will get over it, this is the guy who has lost a wife and a kid at seperate times I believe.
-
Sweeney is 1-8 in 2 games so far, got his first hit last night.
-
Whoever said Kielty is only good vs us is crazy. He is the best hitter on Minny (tho Koskie is right there). Kielty will soon be a 25 HR, 100 RBI, .275 hitter with 100 BBs. He can also play very well in outfield, tho he has been injury prone. Look at him up close live and he looks very much like Mickey Mantle, seriously. He also switch hits. Twins f***ed up.
-
LDF is correct. It is degenerative condition. They are taking gamble he will be able to play thru it. Good gamble to take.
-
Bristol is below Great Falls in the pecking order.
-
Jeez, we do not need Juan Rivera, another overhyped yankee prospect who will never make it. Hernandez has been shuffled around too, not much at all there.
-
We have only signed 2 catchers and neither of the two we signed were top notch, would have been nice to sign either of the Indiana HS catchers we drafted, but sure we will not now.
