  1. Know where Lord's Park Elementary is? That neighborhood
  2. I'm exhausted. Enough. I need a minor break from this bullshit. I can't take it anymore. See you all Friday.
  3. Off of Shales/19 right? Order Uber eats sometime, I drive out here. I've made deliveries in there.
  4. Where exactly is Bungholio? About the only places I could think of in this area are fucking Virgil and Burlington. Those are, in fact, the armpit of Kane County.
  5. I'm in Elgin. McNally's? Filling Station? Going to Geneva this evening for a meeting, so I'll have a beer or two. St. Chaz is along the way.
  6. Yeah, me too. If anything, this might completely take the Sox out of it.
  7. That possibility crossed my mind immediately as soon as I read his public statement.
  8. To rehash: 1. I never really bought the Bob from Niles/Olney tweets, BUT: 2. I said because the Bulls are a shitshow, and they have common ownership, you can't rule it out as factual. 3. I said all you can ask is that they make a competitive offer. At that point, it is out of their control. 4. I said if reports came out after the whole bullshit is over and done with, that they never made a competitive offer, at that point I'd go root for another team temporarily because JR had Bill Wirtzed himself and has proven that he thinks championships are too expensive. If that happened, then, I'd come back when JR is dead and gone.
  9. Yes, this would be awesome. I greatly approve of this post.
  10. Go get em, Dan. Olney and Nightengale just got pwned.
  11. There aren't enough likes for this post. We need to replace Nightengale's photo with Bob from Niles.
  12. Tony, been saying this since last offseason. The MLBPA team reps should be huddling to discuss removing Tony Clark from his position as chief negotiator. They really got bent over on the last round of negotiations. There aren't enough likes for this post. If there's nothing stopping them from going on strike during the middle of a CBA to negotiate a better deal, they should consider not attending Spring Training this year.
  13. There has to be a franchise tag or something that keeps players with their current teams, otherwise the four big boys will just flex their financial muscle and we'll have Yanks/Sawx and Cubs/Dodgers every year in the ALCS/NLCS. The only reason why there is 6 years of player control is that it is really hard for most teams, especially those in less desirable locations, to retain their own talent. This is the problem the NBA is having currently. You don't want that in baseball, too.
  14. I think a good solution in terms of paying younger players is that they only get one year at league minimum, and go to arbitration immediately from years 2-6.
  15. I acknowledged both of those, but did anyone expect that? That is the 5% when chalk loses.
  16. That may have happened, but the difference is just how much better GSW is and Miami was than their competition, outside of 2011. The dominant teams were actually in danger of losing at times then. The Lakers in the early 2000s had to make a miracle shot in 0.4 secs and overcome a 20pt 4th quarter deficit in a game 7 just to GET to the Finals. The Bulls were in danger of losing at times during their run as well. The only time GSW was ever in danger was that LeBron miracle game 7, and that OKC game 7. but even with Durant's last game in OKC, I wouldn't say it was anything like 20 points bad. They were down like 12 points with 7 mins to play and that is by no means considered a miracle comeback.
  17. Yeah, but it is a far cry from the 90s and even early 2000s when the playoffs were actually competitive and entertaining at least. I also find teams just chucking 3 pointers boring, even if it is more efficient. It is kind of the same issue with baseball/HRs. I can get into other parts of baseball where I can't in the NBA. There were years the Bulls were in danger of losing either in the Finals or before they even got there. Were the Warriors really ever in danger outside of the LeBron miracle game 7?
  18. I don't understand how the NBA is even remotely popular right now. Chalk wins 95% of the time. It is entirely predictable and you could hand out the Larry O'Brien trophy in November and most people wouldn't complain. I want to enjoy it again but I can't when 26 teams aren't even competitive. I used to love the NBA more than Baseball or Hockey. Not so, anymore. I grew up and realized how much it sucks. Most years the playoffs are basically a formality.
  19. You can tell who has the bias of Reinsdorf=Scrooge McDuck by that. I don't want to believe it, but the best predictor of future results is past behavior, so I can't really fault them for that bias.
  20. The prudent thing to do is to not freak out and wait until they sign. However, based on the info known I have my contingency plan in place. All I can ask is that they have made a competitive offer. If it comes out they never did, I'm enjoying baseball elsewhere until JR is dead and gone or they win 85+ games.
  21. Dude the Bulls have turned me off from the NBA. I can't enjoy it if the Bulls aren't at least decent. The Incompetence at the Berto Center is the only reason why this scenario is actually plausible.
  22. We're conditioned to think that the Yankees getting all of the good, young FA is how baseball has always worked and will continue to work under the current economic system. If the Sox offer is indeed 7/175, it is a complete joke and I won't blame Machado or Harper for signing elsewhere. They deserve to get vegetables thrown at them during SoxFest. Put Hahn in witness protection now. They have just alienated what is left of their fanbase. I've never even considered switching teams until now. This is a joke I despise the Cubs but I cannot take the White Sox seriously if there is any truth to this. I have zero expectations of winning until ownership changes. Reinsdorf has now Bill Wirtzed himself. I'm going to go enjoy another team until Reinsdorf passes and new ownership takes over. Did it with the Hawks, won't hesitate to do it again. I'll still keep myself informed about the Sox, like I did with the Hawks, but this is bullshit and JR deserves the Wirtz treatment if true. I don't want to believe that this report is true, but I'm making contingency plans in case it is true.
  23. You would think so. This almost reeks of collusion.
