White Sox History
By the end of April, the White Sox had fallen into sixth place in the West and Stubbornly refused to budge higher that fifth despite a managerial change in June that ended Tony La Russa's six year tenure. La Russa was dismissed on June 22 by general manager Ken Harrelson with the Sox 12 games under .500 (27-39) and Jim Fregosi took over. Under Fregosi, the club was 45-51 to finish fith (72-90), 20 games out Harrelson himself was out in September replaced bt Tom Haller, but the primary reason for the team's performance, weak offense, remained. In 82 of 162 games, the Sox scored 3 runs or less and finished last in team batting (.247) and total bases. Harold Baines, through slowed by injury, was the batting star, hitting .296 with 21 homers and 88 RBI's. Rookie John Cangelosi (.235) set a league record for rookies with 50 stolen bases. Joe Cowley (11-11) was the teams leading winner and threw a no hitter Sept 19th at California. Floyd Bannister was 10-14 and Richard Dotson 10-17

White Sox History
After the shocking decline of the previous year, the White Sox made something of a comeback with an 85 - 77 record that moved them up to thrid, six games behind. Harold Baines, Carlton Fisk, Britt Burns and Tom Seaver were big stars in the revival. Baines hit .309 with 22 homers and 113 RBI's (4th in the League) and had 198 hits, fifth best in the league. Fisk hit only .238 but was second in the league in homers (37) and drove in 107 runs. Ron Kittle has another good power season with 26 homers and 58 RBI's but batted only .230. Burns led the pitchers with an 18-11 record (3.96) while Seaver was 16-11 with a 3.17 ERA. Veteran Bob James had the finest season of his carrer posting a 8-7 record in relief with a 2.13 ERA and 32 saves (second highest in the league). Floyd Bannister had 198 strikeouts best on the staff

Hmmm I wonder if it's really his niece. Could be His bestfriends Daughter. His Best Friend was former Major Leaguer Gustavo Polidor who was shot and killed in a robbery in Venezuela some time ago and Ozzie brought Polidor's Family into his home and keeped them there

Whitesox History
In a remarkable turnaround, the rest of the west gained 30 games on the Sox in a single season as the team that won by 20 games the year before finished fifth (74-88), 10 games out of the lead. Despite outstanding performances by several players including Harold Baines, Greg Walker, Greg Luzinski and Ron Kittle the Sox were never seroius contenders during the stretch. Baines hit .304 with 29 homers and 94 RBI's. Walker hit .294 with 24 homers and 75 RBI's, Luzinski batted .238 with 13 homers and 58 RBI's and Kittle Despite hitting only .215 with 100 total hits, slugged 32 homers and drove in 74 runs. One of the pre-season coups was the acquisition of Right hander Tom Seaver from the Mets as compensation for the loss of free agent Dennis Lamp. Seaver led the pitchers with a 15-11 record and a 3.95 ERA. Rich Dotson was 14-15 with 3.59 ERA, best on the team; LaMarr Hoyt was 13-18 and Floyd Bannister 14-11

Would love Andrew Jones on this team. Isn't Jones signed long term?

It doesn't matter if we re-sign Garcia...
Mcdowell pitched in the LCS with the sox in 1993 and with the Yanks in 1995 and with the tribe too. Fernandez went to the World Series with the Marlins and pitched in the LCS in 1993 with the sox

It doesn't matter if we re-sign Garcia...
I just hope we can re-sign Garcia, I feel we gave up a lot in the Trade. I hope we're getting the Garcia is Dominant. Another Problem is JR doesn't like to givve up big contracts to Pitchers
