  1. I'm just wondering, how do you explain McNabb's woeful performance in the Super Bowl two bowls ago? He threw two dreadful interceptions and should have had a third in the first half alone, but it was called off for an unrelated penalty. What was that he had, some sort of a flu that came on during the game? Could it be the Choke Flu? I take it the most overrated was Joe Namath? Hardly. Are you old enough to remember him?
  2. JR didn't break up the Bulls!. Phil Jackson did by being greedy and trying to become the GM as well as head coach. JR stood up for his guy Krausse and the pieces fell apart one by one after Jackson quit.
  3. Kiley and Sullivan are known as two of the best within the industry and they appear to have quite a rivalry going on. I'd have loved to have seen both of them working the Sox the past few seasons. I don't see how you can see Kiley as being an apologist for Hendry. Rather, he sorts out the facts and defends the guy once in a while. I have no problem with that.
  4. Holy cow, bud! Sullivan is probably the best beat writer and Morrissey is the world's worst and most bland columnist.
  5. Online? How? chicagosports.com is up-to-date and outstanding. The Sun-Times online doesn't come out until the next day.
  6. Ain't that the truth! It's quite apparent that there are a whole lot of people on these fan sites that drink way too much of the hometown Kool-Aid. I just hope I don't get sick of it and become a Cub fan.
  7. It hasn't been all downhill for him. He got hot in the second half last year and looked great in his short stint with the big club.
  8. I don't know the design of Muse's contract...Is a lot of his money backloaded? Did he get a tremendous signing bonus? If most of his money is in salary, by all means, you have to dump him now since the salary end of the contract does not count againt the cap if the guy is cut.
  9. Great reply! I was going to say that Steinbrenner is a whole lot more angry than Castro.
  10. Mariotti doesn't have an easy job... and he does it quite well... He seems to rile everyone up, which is his job.
  11. Did the Sun-Times get rid of Padilla? Actually, Cowley and Padilla would hang together when I saw them.
  12. I've worked with all the Sox reporters a few days every spring out here and Cowley seems to be the leader of the bunch, despite the fact that he is from a smaller paper. He's extremely funny and does a hysterical impersonation of Bartolo Colon among others, which makes him a hit with many reporters. Gonzalez was out here in Arizona for a while and I agree with a few of the other posters that he isn't quite up to par... Trust me, the Cubs have the better reporters right now. It's too bad, too.
  13. There's no question that he hasn't cut it, yet. But, that has nothing to do with his approach to the game.
  14. I have the feeling that Borchard feels that he's better than Anderson and was miffed that Anderson got last year's call-up after he (Borchard) had a hot second half.
  15. That's a funny reply. Did he really reply to that?..Where? When?
  16. Believe me, I know this will be mixed. That's why I posted it.
  17. Sigh...When the deal was made, I told my pals that this would probably be a good deal for the Bulls... I'm still holding out hope that Chandler will (someday) become a force. However, it appears to me that he's still too immature and probably spoiled at too young of an age to ever become a major NBA force like Brand is... The first thing I'd tell Chandler if I were Skiles would be this: "If you ever dunk again and act like you just won the game, I'll pull you out of the game for a month." I'd also tell him: "From now on, you don't dunk unless it's with one hand. That way you can't hang on the rim like you're a good NBA player." I cringed when they signed this guy to that whopping contract. But, like I said, I'm still holding out hope. I must be nuts, eh?
  18. I always thought that Philly overreacted badly to Owens, especially when it pertained to McNabb, who is clearly the most overrated player in the history of the NFL... He always plays hard and wants to win. He's a terrific talent...And, clearly, the Bears need help at WR.. I say, bring him in and see.
  19. You could be right, but under no circumstances would Skiles and many of these guys try to lose games. It's probably better that these guys get one more taste of playoff basketball before they head into next season, where they may be able to fit a few players (although there doesn't seem to be much out there) into the available $16 million along with two high picks or the players they dealt them for... I have the complete NBA package out here in Phoenix and last night's game was the first one I missed while I had the chance to watch it. I was disturbed by the Sacramento game the game before. It appears as though I missed a good one. More Pargo, please!
  20. Isn't it amazing how quickly the "roid" boys (McGwire, Sosa) have fallen? Who's next, Bonds?
  21. This hurt me to see Borchard talk about football today...I'm hoping the Sox give him every chance to win the CF job this spring. He's a guy that tried to convert from a different sport and has had some good moments. If the Sox don't keep him, I'm hoping he gets a shot with another team. There is no doubt in my mind that this guy is going to figure it out and become a big-time hitter. I love his approach to the game.
