  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) He’s very good with Floyd and Danks. He seems to struggle with The Count and Buehrle. Maybe, he just feels uncomfortable being assertive with veteran pitchers I think he just gives them a longer rope -- thinks they can use their experience to work themselves out of trouble.
  2. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) I still go back to the initial misplay by Q in left. Don't disagree with the other criticism and bashing, but THAT's the one that pisses me off the most. It's either that or the myriad Alexei horses*** plays.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) For a so called “great pitchers manger” Ozzie has no idea about when and where some of his guys need to leave the game. I bet he wanted to get him the win. Not so bright.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Count's monthly totals 3 GS, 11.2 IP, 15 hits, 7 walks, 14 runs, 13 ER But it's always the 4th game where he really gets it going . . .
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) Well, that was quick for the A's to tie it up. Good thing Alexei was playing so far up the middle. Pull him and never start him again!! Mr. Negative Range strikes again. If we can see that, why is the manager, the guy who was a shortstop, so blind/stubborn about it?
  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) HE HAD A MASSIVE f***ING INJURY!!! and the sox are supposed to just eat that salary and dump him for another pitcher who they'd have to ALSO pay a salary to be just as bad? now THAT is a bad business decision. Regarding the injury, I know that. And I think most people have massive respect for Jose, for coming back like he has and for generally being a super competitor for a long time, particularly in 2005. I am a big fan of his. And I also think he's been jobbed tonight because of half-assed defense. Having said all of that, he really hasn't been effective for awhile. It's hard to admit that, because we all want him to succeed, for many reasons. But he's not even decent.
  7. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) yep you're right. Freddy's gonna be our savior. gimme a f***ing break. I didn't say that. I said he'd be the 5th starter. And it's my guess that he -- or, before the season's over -- Daniel Hudson will be. Kenny and Ozzie are too competitive to keep running Jose out there.
  8. QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) and seriously, you guys are like "dfa count and sign a pitcher" WHO? WHO are you going to sign? a 5th starter is SUPPOSED to be the worst starter on your staff, and when Peavy comes up that's what Freddy Garcia will be. Get off the friggin ledge.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) TAKE HIM OUT OF THE f***ING GAME OZZIE! Carrasco, the ContrerasCaddy, is throwing.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) wow, that looked like a homer to me, those 3 runs would come in handy right now... anybody know who decides whether or not to review a play?? that seemed like a prime canidate I think it starts with the manager getting up off his ass.
  11. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Q started this not yielding to Rios, then bobbled the ball. Plenty of hilarity for all, but the beginning & end belong to TCQ. I say this knowing full well that Quentin is not 100% out there, so I'm really basing it on last year: I think our coaches cannot coach, or simply do not emphasize, defense. It's part of the swing-from-your-ass culture or something. Because Carlos Quentin had a reputation as a plus defender in right field, but he comes here, and he's been average or below since he got here, in left.
  12. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) on the plus side...maybe this is the last time we'll ever see contreras pitch Seems pretty clear that he's good for 3 innings. Given that, maybe we should think seriously about making him the long-man, particularly after September 1. If memory serves, he was actually pretty good out of the pen after he imploded in 2007.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) I made that up. Was trying to come up with the most depressing song I could think of. Whenever I heard the M*A*S*H theme song I felt like jumping out of my window. I never watched the show growing up because of that song. I haven't looked it up again, but I think that the words to that song were written by Robert Altman's 13 year old son. (Altman was the director.)
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) They also play "Suicide is Painless" for every home batters' at bat. This made me laugh.
  15. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) Thats a pretty sweet teaser to give those having just watched this game A CSN recap of the game we just watched! Awesome!!!! Programming genius!
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 01:03 AM) Nice hanging pitch. I can't stand Tony Pena and his hanging sliders! Just remember, Ozzie decided to pitch him over Dotel. Yeah, I'm kinda not feeling Tony Pena right now.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:48 AM) Yea a very off night for Slayer. Looks like a little book is being developed on our guy -- fastballs way up.

  22. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:35 AM) Maybe Linebrink isnt injured, he just popped into place whatever went wrong w/ him after 2005 we're about to have a great pitcher in linebrink now! I'm officially excited about NewLinebrink.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:34 AM) I bet Ozzie is off painting a naked portrait of Wise in the clubhouse.
  24. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:33 AM) that was one of the worst pitches i have ever seen Neither Hawk nor A.J. nor Linebrink could actually believe it was not hit 12 miles.
  25. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 12:30 AM) Dye and Konerko are off sponsoring a search party to find Bartolo Colon. Flashlights and potato chips.
