QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) Ugh, Thome's hurt It's part of Ozzie's plan to keep Dewayne on the roster.

Raise your hand if you thought Pods would get to that ball and field it cleanly.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) Alexei will really hurt us defensively one day. I'd like to say he can improve, but the tallish gallop-ness just doesnt work for me at that position. If he's going to cheat so far to his right, he's always going to be on a dead run to get to 2nd for the turn. That means his footwork has to be a lot better than it is. I just don't see it with him out there.

Freddy is starting.
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 15, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) There's a part of me that won't be completely happy until every last member of the 2005 White Sox team has retired. Here's a player many of us wanted gone, hopefully to never return (unless he injected himself with HGH and found a fastball), and now he's back here. Awesome. I think we can be assured of the following: 1. Sweatiness 2. Steady diet of 87 mph fastballs. Maybe 90 if he's reaching back 3. Steady diet of floating breaking balls 4. Guillen leaving him out way too long because Garcia, not him, decides when enough is enough. 5. Opposing base stealers going crazy. But mark me down as a Freddy fan. I hope he has enough arm, to go with that savvy, to get something done out there.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:53 PM) You can't focus on him though after all the stuff with him this offseason. Maybe they should have focused on Taj Gibson getting his high school diploma from a diploma mill? LOL. Anyway, I guess this is how Dotel looks when he hasn't pitched in many days. Like when he was 28.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:49 PM) Whenever Carlos sees fastball, he wants to just clobber it. Like swing completely out of his shoes clobber it. He needs to change that approach. Well, I'll tell you, we've got this hitting coach that's perfect for making that adjustment.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:47 PM) Carlos is looking bad again. He looks like a very confused guy. Combine that with his hyperactive nature, and it's not a real good result up there.

Alright, so I have to ask . . . is Paulie having another one good half, one bad half season?

Watching Rios in the outfield, is it wrong to think that it would've been enjoyable to see him and Anderson both out there?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) Not having a back-up infielder that can hit from the left side really hurts. If we face any tough righties the next two weeks, it's going to be awful watching Nix have to face them. How about Wilson Betem -- uh, forget it.

SOX @ Oakland, 9:05 PM. WGN.
Not that they really are, but . . . the White Sox look like a team playing to get its manager fired.

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) Whoever, earlier, posted that Hawk was upset with Ramirez... Yep. Moreso now. He appeared to be swing from el ass.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) Castro with some great at bats. Pods going to have to get this bunt down. Should be interesting. Pods has typically been a decent bunt-for-hit guy and a miserable bunt-for-sacrifice guy.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) He’s very good with Floyd and Danks. He seems to struggle with The Count and Buehrle. Maybe, he just feels uncomfortable being assertive with veteran pitchers I think he just gives them a longer rope -- thinks they can use their experience to work themselves out of trouble.

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) I still go back to the initial misplay by Q in left. Don't disagree with the other criticism and bashing, but THAT's the one that pisses me off the most. It's either that or the myriad Alexei horses*** plays.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) For a so called “great pitchers manger” Ozzie has no idea about when and where some of his guys need to leave the game. I bet he wanted to get him the win. Not so bright.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Count's monthly totals 3 GS, 11.2 IP, 15 hits, 7 walks, 14 runs, 13 ER But it's always the 4th game where he really gets it going . . .

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:36 PM) Well, that was quick for the A's to tie it up. Good thing Alexei was playing so far up the middle. Pull him and never start him again!! Mr. Negative Range strikes again. If we can see that, why is the manager, the guy who was a shortstop, so blind/stubborn about it?

QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) HE HAD A MASSIVE f***ING INJURY!!! and the sox are supposed to just eat that salary and dump him for another pitcher who they'd have to ALSO pay a salary to be just as bad? now THAT is a bad business decision. Regarding the injury, I know that. And I think most people have massive respect for Jose, for coming back like he has and for generally being a super competitor for a long time, particularly in 2005. I am a big fan of his. And I also think he's been jobbed tonight because of half-assed defense. Having said all of that, he really hasn't been effective for awhile. It's hard to admit that, because we all want him to succeed, for many reasons. But he's not even decent.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:31 PM) yep you're right. Freddy's gonna be our savior. gimme a f***ing break. I didn't say that. I said he'd be the 5th starter. And it's my guess that he -- or, before the season's over -- Daniel Hudson will be. Kenny and Ozzie are too competitive to keep running Jose out there.

SOX @ Oakland, 9:05 PM. WGN.
QUOTE (Reddy @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) and seriously, you guys are like "dfa count and sign a pitcher" WHO? WHO are you going to sign? a 5th starter is SUPPOSED to be the worst starter on your staff, and when Peavy comes up that's what Freddy Garcia will be. Get off the friggin ledge.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) wow, that looked like a homer to me, those 3 runs would come in handy right now... anybody know who decides whether or not to review a play?? that seemed like a prime canidate I think it starts with the manager getting up off his ass.

QUOTE (bobryansson @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 10:22 PM) Q started this not yielding to Rios, then bobbled the ball. Plenty of hilarity for all, but the beginning & end belong to TCQ. I say this knowing full well that Quentin is not 100% out there, so I'm really basing it on last year: I think our coaches cannot coach, or simply do not emphasize, defense. It's part of the swing-from-your-ass culture or something. Because Carlos Quentin had a reputation as a plus defender in right field, but he comes here, and he's been average or below since he got here, in left.
