  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 2, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) Viciedo is 2-3 with 3 RBI's. Marrero has two bombs. As the Barons have just exploded on Mobile following a bad start from Shirek. I'm starting to think that the trade of Brandon Allen was because Marrero was right behind him. Anyone know how he is with the glove?
  2. QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 11:48 PM) Kidney Stones......so thats y hes been pitching like s*** I guess that's a family issue.
  3. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:53 PM) What a hilarity of a game. It was fitting Wise would do something to help win it. Amazing. Dweezy took Swisher's job last year. He b****-slapped Swisher's feel good story tonight.
  4. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) Can they just hit Wise in the ass or something? That'd be a best case scenario kind of thing. I do think I will remember this as the Year of Dewayne Wise.
  5. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:44 PM) lol... at Cowley's twitter... "Swish is probably digging himself so much right now he doesn't know what to do. Maybe he could put more gel in his faux hawk." Maybe Swish can fake laugh at something, with Toby Hall, while he takes a called 3rd strike.
  6. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) honestly... its been a long time since the Sox have had a stretch hurt like this one. We are who we thought we were. Old and crappy.
  7. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) I'm sure Dye, Thome and Konerko won't be trying to swing for the fences...sure.. I'm tired of their group slumps. So tired. And yeah, that's even if one of them hits a game-winning HR. The GM of this team needs to dump Thome and break that crew up. (And I don't care about Thome's OPS or that he's a lefty or anything else. On this team, he's always going to bat 4 or 5, always going to block slow-poke Dye from moving to DH, and always going to team up with Dye and Konerko to form a big, fat, f***ing 6-4-3 sandwich. Break it up, already.)
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) is the fire KW talk serious? It's an akward year with a lot of older vets with contracts going away, I mean you can't be serious Uh, no. I wasn't serious. But there is some cause-and-effect here between the players our GM gets and the way they perform in a "ballpark" that puts a premium on speed and fundamentals. So I think it's a little foolish to pretend that KW is blameless if, year after year, the same slow, fundamentally shoddy guys are trotted out there.
  9. QUOTE (Baines3 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) What in the world do we have to do to win a game in that place. Get rid of our slow and soft "leaders." And fire the manager who's in the tank before we go up there -- and the GM who built a team of guys who can't play fundamental baseball. But, since none of that is going to happen, I guess just keep losing.
  10. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:36 PM) sadly, gordon still has a lot to learn when it comes to sucking against the twins "What's it doing?" "It's learning."
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:33 PM) Gordon Beckham is the best pure hitter i've seen in a while I haven't been so interested in watching a Sox player take at-bats since Frank Thomas, circa 1993.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Anyone who can reference the WOPR deserves a good laugh.
  13. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) i agree, beckham should be at ss. so...put alexei back at 2b? I'd be fine with it.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Interesting story, as Bruce Levine basically said today that AJP isn't the only Sox player who's sick of Alexei being afraid to get down and dirty in the field. Levine's about as useful as a balm bag, but there's probably some validity to this. After all, last spring training when he played the outfield, Alexei was pretty clearly afraid of the wall.
  15. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) it's like playing tic-tac-toe against the WOPR "Right now, I'd piss on a sparkplug if I thought it would help."
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) Yes If reality = bad defense, sure.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) Oh, f*** you. Alexei Yep, not a great throw, but Alexei should have had the ball. Again. He's a complete and total liability. End that f***ing experiment now, please. Thanks much.
  18. Sometimes, I'll tell you, it's real hard to like this version of the Sox.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) Home run or nothing from PK, Dye, and Thome these days. That inning was a microcosm of what this team needs to become versus what it is -- a guy who hits the ball where it's pitched, doesn't try to roll over every pitch versus 2 guys whose default is to try and pull the ball, at almost all times. More of the former, less of the latter, please.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) What's the book on Kotsay? The Man Traded for Brian Anderson.
