  1. If what Kalapse mentioned is the case, then VWells can keep on a looking elsewhere...when I think of $20 million dollar players(sad that there is such a thing, but thats another argument), I don't see Wells in my mind.
  2. Heh, you two are killing me here!! Speaking of killing...did you know that Harmon "The Killer" Killebrew wasn't exactly a killer in the Postseason? .250/.444/.500/.944 Ok ok, I'm done!
  3. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 07:07 AM) Say how did the Mariners get Freddy Garcia again? I'm not trying to say Freddy = RJ in his prime, but teams do give up multiple prospects for one year rentals. Hell the Astros gave up Garcia, Hullien and Halama for 2 months of RJ. Garcia is a lock to net two draft pick as well if he doesn't come back. Actually it's more like: Rowand, Haigwood, Morse, Bradford, Reed for Thome, Floyd, $$$ and 2.5 years of Garcia and one WS Championship DBAH0 kinda stole my thunder already, but thats a completely different situation...when you have a team, near the trade deadline in JULY, that knows they need one big arm to put them over the top for a stretch run, then the costs get high. We came into this offseason knowing we had 6 starters in a 5 man rotation. There is no strain to improve a team at all costs like there is say...July 31st during a season. Thats not saying I think KW got an outstanding deal or anything, but I don't think he did as bad as all the armchair GMs are whining about on here either...
  4. Well.....Horatio Ramirez also has at least 3 more years of Seattle control before being a FA, AND is coming off a managable $2.2 mil contract. Granted, the Braves still fleeced Bavasi and the Mariners, but still...Garcia is a FA to be, making $10 mill this coming year...how many top prospects are you gonna really get for someone that is gonna walk after 1 year...
  5. Hope the day treats you well!
  6. There you go throwing logic and common sense into SoxTalk, whitesox61382....theres no room for such here, most GMs here woulda got ALOT more than that for Garcia on MLB2k7!!
  7. Tomorrow, Spurrier will get the first QB he has REALLY been after since arriving at South Carolina, Stephen Garcia out of Tampa. Things are looking good for the OBC.
  8. And yet, we are STILL basing Floyds numbers on half a season with Philly, as a 23 year old, with 108 IP career in the majors....Awesome foresight!!
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) I thought you only hated Podsednik? I know not who this "Podsednik" person is you reference. I have chosen to put a mental block on that name, so no idea who that is!!
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:57 AM) I might be the only one, but I dreaded games where Garcia was pitching. I never was confident we'd win with him on the mound, and I hated knowing how slow he'd work and how a walk turned into a double. I'm excited at the thought of watching McCarthy start next year. No Fathom, I'm pretty sure that I was vocal in EVERY start he made...at least we get 5 innings of non-craptastic effort from Javy when HE pitches...I'm a huge Garcia opponent, so I don't mind us ridding ourselves of him
  11. For the love of all that is holy, good lord, do NOT start the Bonds s*** again..PLEASE...I'll start watching the WNBA before I root for Barry Bonds.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 12:34 AM) Well, this article is downright scary. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines If KW isn't bluffing, things are about to get very ugly. So much for extending the deals on our starters. Heh....well congrats Sox Fans on that 2005 World Championship!! Now its time to rebuild after this amazing dynasty run! KW better just be shooting off at the mouth, like he enjoys doing alot. Gio, BMac, McCulloch, Broadway, Phillips.....a starting rotation to strike fear in all the masses!
  13. The SQL gremlins are back on the board tonight!! Double posts a plenty!! After thinking about it for a bit, I'm not too bothered by the move. I know that watching Freddy Garcia pitch in 2006 resulted in some of the most agonizing baseball viewing that you can go through....a seemingly indifferent attitude from a supposed stud pitcher, never knowing what he was going to give you.....I'll gladly take that $10 mill off the ledger, and spend it on better options.
  14. Good lord...why on earth ANYONE here would be discussing Mr. Ego himself, Barry Bonds, is beyond me. Lets worry about settling the REAL needs right now...shakey leadoff hitter, CFer since it seems BA wore his welcome out somehow in 1 season, pitching that is consistent...
  15. Heh...its not gonna happen...not sure how many more different ways Spurrier can say no. Rehashed yet again... Bammer is in some trouble if they think they are gonna pull a huge name into the coaching mess they have there. It should start with the firing of Mal Moore tbh, and see what happens from there.
  16. My thing is, how do you entice a coach to come to your school, after going through 4 coaches in 7 years....thats the definition of a turnstyle position IMO. Bammer fans forget that Shula was one season removed from a 10 win campaign. This isn't their fathers Alabama team, the SEC football teams are ALOT more balanced out overall. I just think that the Tide fans are a bit delusional if they think that some huge name coach wants to step into that black hole right now.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 27, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Why of course! All kinds of rumors flying about the deal getting done with his agent Jimmy Sexton on Saturday, which is why they waited until Sunday to decide to make things final with Shula. Of course, the radio folks in South Carolina are saying "no freakin way". You hear anything? lol No chance that Spur leaves USC right now....what would be the benefit of going somewhere to perpetually live in the shadows of a drunken, plaid hat wearing has-been? He has this USC team right where he wants them, Top 10-15 class coming in, competitive with anyone in the SEC, and things are getting better. Though, it seems no matter how many times he says "I'm not going anywhere" in the press, the Bammer faithful spin it into something ludacris like "well he said he doesnt intend to leave USC, that doesnt mean he won't DECIDE to!" So sad to see the revolving door that is Bammer football coaches.
  18. Then frankly, someone tell me how to ring KW's cell phone, STAT!! That move is one I can't see anything bad come out of....I've got a bad taste in my mouth after shipping Cotts to the Flubs, but this would make me forget all about that.
  19. If I'm presented with the opportunity to move Garcia for Santana, then I have to SERIOUSLY hold back my giddyness if I'm KW....I would be all ears at that idea, unless they started kicking around the wrong names to go with Garcia...
  20. Just found yet another way to lose a game against a Top 15 team. This South Carolina team has been in every game until teh last minute, and always finds a way to lose. I think its 4 straight games now that the secondary has gone for the INT instead of knocking the ball down, and it resulting in a TD for the other team. It was the difference last week against Arkansas, and today against Tennessee...not to mention a 6'6" guy blocking any kick that was tried. I guess only having 6 scholarship seniors on a very young team, you should expect some tough losses.....but this is just an extremely painful year.
  21. The thing to me here is, in the last week..week and a half, when we REALLY had to win games against Detroit, Boston, etc to have any shot at the playoffs, it HASN'T been the starting pitching thats let us down(besides Buehrle who is a whole other issue). The hitting has been abysmal lately, save one 7-0 game against Detroit. Garland is Garland, and I'm quite impressed with his ability to still win 17 games the way he started this year. Freddy has looked pretty damn good here lately, Javy found his strikeout mojo and if he can K guys, give 6-7 IP with 3ish runs per, I'm happy. Contreras....I don't know what to think about him...I'd almost be inclined to move Jose, something just doesn't feel right here to me.
  22. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) And here we go again with the Brian Anderson fan convention... Have you watched Mack in CF this year at all? Can you honestly say he is a competent CFer out there defensively? We have enough guys in the lineup who theoretically are there just to hit, we need BA out in CF period. Mack should be in LF for prancer, and Pods should NEVER see the light of a ChiSox starting lineup again, period.
  23. Granted, Miss. St's offense is questionable, but you can't deny that a USC defense, with 10(TEN) new starters for tonights game did a helluva job. We Gamecock faithful got a bit of a scare when Mitchell went down in teh first half, luckily it was just a cut on his leg. 5 Sacks, 2 INTs, a shutout, and constant pressure on the Bulldog offense. I'm happy with the defense. Spurriers offense, on the other hand...
  24. Javy, its Tampa Bay...on the road, against the defending world champs. PLEASE don't drop teh ball today...we need EVERY win we can get right now, don't blow this PLEASE And for Gods sake Ozzie, JUST SAY NO to Pods!
  25. Heh, had I asked you at the beginning of the year, to match the ERAs and Wins to the respective pitchers lsited below, how many of you woulda got them right? 16-4, 4.47 ERA 11-6, 4.25 ERA 13-8, 5.05 ERA 11-8, 5.06 ERA 11-11, 4.71 ERA Mark Buehrle Jose Contreras Freddy Garcia Jon Garland Javier Vasquez
