  1. OK that was bomb off of Sweeneys bat there... Back to your 5th starter debate
  2. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 06:23 PM) But we'll be playing 81 games in the homerun haven called US Cellular Field. You can't completely negate the results of today based upon thin Arizona air and assume it'd be drastically different up North. Wind and humidity are huge factors in Chicago. Danks just pitched poorly. I won't take any excuses to justify it. The important point is now to determine in future starts whether it was isolated, or perhaps proof he could use more seasoning in AAA. I don't think Danks looked all that great, just about average. But with respect to the strike zone, I was speaking of Floyd. Hes working behind alot of hitters today, but the strike zone isn't helping. I think Floyd has looked pretty good. The 2nd time through the Pads lineup, Danks was struggling to fool anyone.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 06:18 PM) I just went through this gamethread. Its interesting that Wells gets hammered and he sucks and needs to retire, and Danks gets hammered and the wind is blowing out and the umpires have a small strike zone. Danks is young. He's going to struggle if he makes the team. He's struggled initially on just about every level and then became good. That's a good sign, but remember the jump to the major leagues is the biggest leap you can take. If the White Sox are relying on good results from him in the major leagues in 2007, the offense better be the best in team history. I really hope KW is looking for a 5th starter outside the organization. I think Lieber would be perfect. He struggled last year, but he was hurt. Small difference though. Wells was leaving EVERYTHING over the plate, with little speed or movement.
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) That is an excuse. Conditions such as weather and umpiring crew won't always be perfect just so we can fairly evaluate players. And we won't be playing in the open air of the Arizona desert again either, so I kinda think it does have an influence on things. Just saying that as a 5th started, I don't have a problem with either Danks or Floyd really, but if I have my choice, its still Danks based mostly on wanting 2 lefties in the rotation.
  5. Not to make excuses, but the strike zone kinda sucks today for pitchers. I think Danks and Floyd both looked pretty good
  6. Danks getting ripped here in the4th now
  7. QUOTE(beautox @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) who do you think is going to preform better this year? Kouzmanoff or Barfield. Well if you play MLB 07:The Show, you'll know that Barfield is the 2nd coming of god on that game I have a hard time ever getting him out at all. As for real life, no idea, just thought I'd throw that in. Nice ring up of Branyon
  8. 2-0 so far today with S. Illinois and Oregon looking good too.
  9. Oh yeah, UNLV wins over Wisc as I planned...keep it up, good day going so far for me!
  10. Danks gives up a bomb to Adrian gonzalez 7-1
  11. Ya, he may ne done. Dye singles, 7-0 in the 2nd
  12. Hahaha....batting practice Ozuna hits it to the right side, and Wells doesn't even bother to try to cover first....Runners on the corners now, 4-0, no one out
  13. WoW, Wells does look done....they are pounding everything he throws deep to the outfield.
  14. Danks goes right at Marcus Giles, Ks him on a high curve.
  15. Konerko hit a bomb off the CF huge wall for a double, then Dye with a single, then Crede with a double. 1-0 good guys Mack with a single up the middle, scores Dye and Crede 3-0 good guys off Wells
  16. I think what you're missing is that most of us want Erstad in the OF, no question. But we think that an Erstad/BA/Dye OF is above and beyond better than Pods/Erstad/Dye. It takes a bit of pressure off Erstad up the middle, and Pods is atrocious out in LF. I don't think anyone here, except maybe the occasional blind one, would want Pods over Erstad in LF. The whole talk centers around us not really wanting to throw Mr. Bad Jump himself out in Left.
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) I just don't see it with Logan. I see him getting lit up again if he makes this team. Just out of curiosity, who would you rather see in place of Logan?
  18. 7-1 today 25-7 in the first round. Still I think its the best I've done at this point in a long time.
  19. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) That, right there, gives us one of the worst defensive outfields that I can remember in years. Mercy! That won't matter, it will have 2 real GRINDERS out there for us, so all will be fine!!
  20. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) Alright, I haven't been on here much lately, so forgive me ignorance. WTF is all this s*** about BA not starting? Is it that stuff about him partying or what? I'm really puzzled as to why the hell Erstad would be starting CF instead of BA (not putting this injury into account). In not so subtle ways, Guillen already stated that, even prior to the injury today, BA was the odd man out this year. He doesnt want him to get sparse ABs off the bench(which I agree wouldn't help), and has a man crush for Erstad despite the fact that he hasn't played an efficient CF in years. So we will have Pods/Erstad/Dye as our defensive OF from left to right, with what most of us are guessing as Terrero as the 4th OFer off the bench.
  21. If I had my choice, I'd go north with Logan, Haegar, Floyd, MacDougal, Thornton and Jenks in the 'pen. Lots of inexperience maybe, but gives us 2 longish guys in Haegar and Floyd, and some heat at the back end. Put Aardsma and Sisco in AAA to harness their control a bit.
  22. Its an offensive slugfest betwen UCLA and Indiana, one to rival the Tennessee game from the 1st round!! OK maybe not, but god is it an ugly one.
  23. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) That's pretty much how I see it and I was OK with that as long as I knew a healthy Anderson was in AAA playing everyday, ready to join the team if needed. Now, if Brian is indeed injured seriously, I'm not comfortable with the outfield stuation at all. At least we knew Brian could play major league defense in CF. Well if nothing else, it could be Terreros chance to really shine if he can handle MLB pitching at the plate. Seeing as we have so many eggs in the perverbial Brian Anderson basket in CF, it would be nice to see someone else step up, just in case.
  24. I've fallen back in love with 2 beers: Newcastle and Grolsch(sp?) Seeing as my fiancee lives in the UK, I've grown to drink Grolsch there all the time, and Newcastle alot when here in the States. As for Waffle House...um eww? I wouldn't walk back into the Awful Waffle close to me if someone paid me to eat there.
