And with BMac now warming, we've effectively toasted the 'pen. Contreras, I sure as hell hope you can throw up to 18 innings if need be tomorrow.
-
Simply amazing..it takes talent to get bases loaded, nobody out....and not score 1 GD run.
-
Thome had no chance against Lopez
-
Loaded..no one out...our hitters coming up...now is the time.
-
And cue the Chicken Littles now... What was Oz supposed to do there? Our 'pen is completely overused right now because our supposed strength this year is a flat out weakness behind Contreras....not much can be done when we have 5 starters who seem completely lost.
-
And THATS what a reliever does in the crunch. Well done Cottsy.
-
AJs arm isnt really that bad, but when your pitchers dont hold anyone on base where they are, its kinda hard to throw anyone out. Our starters dont do AJ any favors whatsoever concerning baserunners.
-
And thats why when you have the #9 hitter down 0-2, you don't f***ing WALK him. :headshake
-
Thats the Pods I knew we COULD see at times this year! And Thome #30!! Try not to suck in the 6th, Garcia.

We try REALLY hard to sit here and be passive in these gamethreads, as tempers ALWAYS run high between you guys for some completely unknown reason...but some of you are really making it hard to try and be nice in here.... So I'll ask you 1 last time.. Shut the f*** up with the insults on each other, unless you really want to be suspended over something so ridiculous. -

1 more ER for Buehrle, and we'll be sporting a starting rotation that has 80% of its members with an ERA over 4.00....pitching is CLEARLY our strength this year... -

Widge in teh lineup tonight :headshake But so is Ozuna!! -
Well actually....Javy WAS penciled in as our #5 starter. With Buehrle, Contreras, Garcia, Garland in front of him. Does he make too much money for a #5 guy? Absolutely. But I can't fault KW for making that deal too much. On paper, our starting 5 looked like a hellacious rotation at the start of the season. Its just too bad that guys like Garcia, Javy, and lately to a lesser extent, Garland, haven't had any consistency at all.

Very solid and thorough, thanks guys!!
-
Been kinda waiting on this one for a bit, but good lord, what a butcher-job on the title of teh movie...BAD title.
-
Danman, quick question...I'll admit I don't keep up with the minors even remotely as close as I used to. Has Broadway been as good as his numbers portray? Whats the long term forecast for him seem like to you, or anyone else that reads these threads.

Oh god guys!! Its Contra, 30 men on the original NES...that I still own myself...

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) Cliff has 2 things going wrong for him right now. One is his control. He is not getting ahead of hitters, and is constantly getting into 2-0 and 3-1 counts. The second issue is he no longer has an explosive fastball like he did when he first came to the sox. When he first signed with the sox, he was 94-96. Last year we saw a slight dropoff as he concentrated on his control more. He was still 93-94 in the zone. Now he is mainly 90-91. When a reliever gets into a hitters count, and is a two pitch pitcher and has a very straight medicore fastball, what you have been seeing happens. They hit him all over the park. Cliffy needs the bone spurs removed from his elbow so he can throw free and easy. However that will need to happen for another team. Cliffy is in his walk year, and with his terrible performances wants to make something happen so he can get a decent contract. You cant blame him for that, so he refuses the surgery, and is trying to pitch through the pain. But when you are a hard fastball, hard slider guy and the speed differential between those two pitches are not that much, then you are going to get hurt. Maybe we can send Cliffy to the Reds for a prospect of some sort. They are absolutely desperate for pitching, and will give Cliffy a chance to work through it. We however dont have the luxury to let one person burn our pen down. KW will most likely go out and get someone, Montero will get a chance for right now. Thank you clifford for all the memories of 2005. You are a warrior, however its time to part ways. He doesnt suck, he isnt bad. He is injuried. He needs to recoup however somewhere else. And thats truly ALL that needs to be said about things. I'm as disappointed in Politte this year as anyone, but I'm not gonna start talking s*** about how bad he is, slinging mud at him, etc...whats the point? Does it make you all feel better about him giving up 3 runs tonight if you call him a few names? Well then go for it, but don't be pissing and moaning if and when you get asked to tone things down every once in a while.

Jesus, Thome is MASHING right now...

Dare I say....Javy settling in here...
