All I could find on Greg Smith is that he is a soft tossing lefty.

Unknown pitchers usually do pretty good against the Sox for some reason

But screw that, the Sox are reversing the trend

Unknown pitcher + lefty + Sox-killer Mike Sweeney now playing for the A's = AHHHHH

Seriously Mike Sweeney is the best player either nobody ever talks about, or everybody just plain forgot about.

Should be a cool day for Swisher-House facing his old team. Hopefully he has a big series.

We'll also get to see BearSox's boy R. Sweeney's return.

EDIT: Forgot he's injured. He'll still be around on the bench though. (pretty sure he'll get a camera shot)

I will be cheering them on tonight from the posh Jim Beam section. First game of the year, and I am going to be spoiled.

Q: Bill from Tempe, AZ asks:

Greg Smith put up great numbers in the minor league's worst ballpark for pitchers, yet he's not regarded as a premier prospect. What's his upside?

A:

Will Lingo: He's No. 13 (15 in the book before the departure of two guys ahead of him) in one of the most talented organizations in the game, so he's no slouch. Smith actually went 9-0, 1.63 with Lancaster, so his performance there was impressive. He doesn't get more attention because he's your classic finesse lefty who doesn't blow anybody away. His fastball touches 90 and his curveball and changeup are nice pitches, but his biggest strength is his feel for pitching and for setting up hitters. So you look for him to be a middle of the rotation guy at best.

Time to keep the run going.

Our hitters need to keep remaining patient, and keep doing what they're doing.

Keep taking 2 out of 3.

Sounds good to me.. i'll be at both of them ;) C'mon Buerhle.. be your self and do your thing. Wouldn't it be sweet to have 3 consecutive shutouts? When was the last time that happend? Statman?

Mark, just close your eyes. Don't look at the uniforms, just pitch.

1st place team, solid opening to the season... its good to be a Sox fan right now.

That said, this Oakland team has been doing better than most projected. I'd be happy with a split of the two games.

Set the tone MB!

GO YOU WHITE SOX!!!

:gosoxretro:

Come on Buehrle!!

ill get to watch this game :)

Go sox

Got a good feeling about this one! go go white sox!

can't wait for the game tonight.... also get early admittance to watch Sox BP as part of our Soxfest MVP pass Patio Party. Of course have never witnessed that before at a home game, so that should be pretty cool.

Lets keep this going!! At least Mark isnt IN Oakland~!

My first game this year.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk....oh wait

Go Go Sox

I would be happy with a split considering Oakland owns our ass.

Regular lineup again per Reifert's blog.
