  1. in spite of hsc, i still think that colon can pull it around, he is a good pitcher.

I just hope we don't offer him after 2003....I have no problems watching him walk away

  2. Not if they sign Matsui.  Also, it depends on where the Sox pick.  If they pick high enough then I think its compensentary by MLB and they dont' give up any picks, but I'm not positive on that.

and the other guys I'd want them to sign wouldn't be worth that much.  Plus I'll gladly accept 2 picks for COlon and use one of them on Sidney Ponson.  He's worth it in my mind.  Of course i'd like to acquire him for Thomas via a trade.

Refresh my memory....I keep thinking of the LFer Matsui...is there another wanting to make the move to the US? Not like JR is gonna do any signing of overseas players. I'd like to see Tejada, but it wont happen...although, the way he is hitting this year (.247), who knows. But Frank stays

  3. does anyone remember why the sox force fisk to retire?

i do, he was becoming an embarrassment and did not see the writing that he should have given up his spikes.

i love the way the man played and the heart he had, but he was becoming a joke. you see some of these players who refuse to admit that its time. just like rickey henderson of today.

I'm not so sure about your last addition there. Rickey Henderson can flat out play the game of baseball. And at the age of 44, he's in better shape than alot of MLB players out there. I don't like the guy at all, but he can still get the job done.

  4. When Colon, Everett, Sandy, and Robbie walk after this year (or get traded), what kind of money does that free up. Obviously none from Robbie and Everett, but Colon and Sandy, and isnt Jose a FA too? What kind of $$$ are we talking here

  5. Cali, check out Closure...not sure what you are into, but its pretty solid rock. It doesnt hurt that my friend is the lead guitarist :D They are starting to get a good bit of airplay.

  6. If not our loyalty, we have Carlton Fisk situation Part II. JR lets Frank walk, or trades him after what he has done for the franchise, and there are LOTS og angry fans, and JR doesnt have that many fans to be pissing off. I don't see him doing that again, he and Frank are pretty close I thought.

  7. I think he's pitching like a 300 lb fatass finess wannabe pitcher. I can't figure it out....throw the damn ball, Colon..most guys in the league can't catch up with your high heat, f***ing use it!!

  8. I'm sorry, but I'm not ready to see Thomas in any uniform other than a Sox one. He's the reason I started following this team back in 1991. I'd have a hard time seeing him walk away and not retire in the Chicago uni. Does that mean that it is the best for the club to do? No, just my preference, and we already had a huge P.R. blunder when Fisk was excavated from the team the way he was. Frank deserves the right to retire in Chicago. Everett won't be here next year, and Daubach is only a one year contract if I remember correctly, so then we have our 2000 situation again, with Thomas/Konerko at 1st/DH, and CLee in LF. I don't think anyone is ready to hand over LF to Borchard, the guy just isnt MLB ready.

  9. While I still like picking up Alomar (not at the cost of Ring, though), I was definately ready to not see Jimenez on the big league roster anymore. But, I do think we could have kept him, he had options left I believe, send him to Charlotte. Everyone knows that now we have no real second baseman next year, and we GAVE one to Cincinnati

  10. From what the Sox have the lineup looks fine from my point of view.

Jason, even you have to agree that There is a batter option for CF on the bench in Rowand...the guy finally started hitting, and hes been on the bench ever since. That and the fact that Everett just can't cover the ground that Rowand can. But then, you have to DH Everett or put him in left, and sit Lee

  11. The SCORE said today that Thomas's knee isn't 100% and that HE requeted to DH until it is 100%.

If this is the case, then I retract my request for Frank at First....

but Jerry is still a dumbf***....Everett CANNOT play centerfield...Rowand CAN

  12. I'm sorry.  I really meant to say it was NOT Koch's fault we lost the game.  As I did mention the poor pitching by Colon and Sanders. Sorry again.

I kinda thought thats what you meant, but it gave me a good reason to post the boxscore from last night. Why is David Sanders still here? I'm thinking as soon as Wunsch is ready, Sanders will be gone.

  13. Yeah, Koch's fault we lost this game.  As bad as Colon was, Sanders was worse.

Huh? Koch's fault? Come on now, this is getting old....what about the fact that Sanders was left out there when he couldnt get the last out, and gave up a couple runs with 2 outs, giving up hits with 2 strikes on hitters? ANd don't even start throwing blame unless you are staring fatass Colon straight up. This guy has been bad for a while, throw the damn ball, quit trying to finesse strike calls out of the umps.

    Chi White Sox
IP   H R ER BB K  HR Season ERA
    B. Colon (L, 6-9) 3.2  7 5  5   4  3  1        4.36
    D. Sanders         1.0  5 4  4   1  0  0        6.14
    R. White             2.1  1 0  0   0  2  0        5.66
    B. Koch              2.0   3 1  1   0  3  0        5.58

  14. Thanks Jason, I agree....I feel like the last Koch defender on here most of the time...most people dont think that had we not made the trade, we'd have Foulke for 2003, win or lose, then when his contract was up, he was sure as s*** walking away, and we'd have zero from it all. At least now we have a closer signed for a couple years, and a decent LHP prospect to boot.

  15. I guess since we got rid of Jimenez, now we have to all pile on Koch everynight. "Jesus, how could he give up that 1 run in 2 IP? He cost us the win." Bulls***...check the 1st and 2nd guys that pitched tonight, theres your loss right there.

  16. It's like what was said earlier...why the hell does Colon all of a sudden wanna be a location pitcher? Jesus, you can throw 98-99 MPH, f***ing throw the damn ball, and quit trying to pick at the corners.

  17. Hell, I'll come to bat for the guy again and again. Koch was out there for work, he gave up a run in 2 IP. Can't hardly pin the loss on him, look in the direction of Fatass Colon, and Mop Up Sanders...theres 9 of the runs right there....thats pathetic.
