  1. KW has stated many times that this team was built for the long haul, not just 2003. If that means that ownership is going to have to step up financially or there are other tricks up their sleeve is anyone's guess. With the division as weak as it is, to totally tank and rebuild ala Cleveland would be deplorable. You don't have to be that great to make the playoffs. Minnesota is going to lose some players this off season, KC can't realistically be expected to do much, Cleveland probably needs a couple more years, and Detroit is hopeless. Let Rowand play CF, get a cheaper better SS (Eckstein perhaps), hope Koch can be at least average, sign some cheap relievers, maybe trade for a rent an ace again, and most importantly get the right man in the dugout. 2004 can be a lot of fun, they need to build on the momentum created this season, and who knows, they still have a chance this year.
  2. One constant for this team this year has been whenever you are ready to give up on them, they bring you back in. Of course the other constant is when they look like they are going to win it all, they break your heart. I'm sure Twins fans felt like most of us after the first 2 games of last week's series. We definitely have a disadvantage with JM calling the shots, but there is still hope.

He's very good off the bench. When he plays regularly, he gets exposed and isn't as valuable. I like Tony G as a reserve. As a regular, the results would be very dissapointing.
  4. keep it away from Koskie, he's a vaccuum cleaner.
  5. Paulie's going to have to bow his neck
  6. At least he didn't hit into the all too frequent GIDP
  7. Gene LaMont was fired because the players weren't ready to play. And that was after winning the division twice, and Schueler getting off the golf course long enough to sign Sabo and Kruk. Why such a long leash with this bozo?
  8. How about making Radke throw more than 6 pitches this inning? How about some small ball? I'd love to see what this team could do if they just tried to get on base.
  9. If this was known yesterday then JM is a f***ing moron. A complete moron. JG has been pitching his ass of all year and would of been just fine. If this is something that came up today and for whatever reason they couldn't go to JG then and only then is that an excuse. Still, I'm really questioning. For cripes sake he was gonna PUKE??? well jason its about damn time you see this for what it really is...... a cluster f***.......jm is a f***in moron........tinker tinker tinker........we cant seem to get enough..... :fyou the management of this team and its owner.......someone should have had balls enough to tell or say to jm hey the guys sick dont start him .........geez us I've wanted Manuel out since the end of last season. I gave him last year as the year to show that the injuries were the excuse for the demise in 2001. It wasn't the case and I was ready for him to be gone. Backman has been my guy for a while and I know you've been backing him too WALLY !!!!!! WALLY!!!!!! WALLY!!!!!!!!!! yep i have been calling his name for quite some time now........too bad no one but you heard me though....... I think if Wally isn't in Chicago next season, he's going to be in a different organization. and could you blame him.... geez us.... its been a long time coming... wtf is jr waiting on.......we really need a guy like him to come in and kick some asses around .........or at least make a few GOOD decisions once in a while...... I agree. Unless you bring in Piniella or Leyland, I think you have to give the job to Backman. Another year of JM should not be an option.

  11. If they aren't going to score any runs, its better off Loaisa didn't have it tonight. It would be a shame if he lost another 1-0 or 2-0 game.
  12. Lets watch Jose pull his head with 2 strikes and K.
  13. JM would love to be fired IMO. Then he would get paid to sleep in Sacramento instead of the White Sox dugout. If he resigned, he would not get paid.
  14. Evidently, Esteban doesn't like to vary from his usual rest. With an off day yesterday he was in line to pitch today. The same strategy was not used, as you probably recall, when JM went to Cotts in NY. JM did say this was not a do or die series. Whatever he's on, I want some.
  15. DJ just said Esteban is fighting a virus. If this is true, why not move him to tomorrow and have Garland take his usual rest? JM at the end of the season..................HE GAWN
  16. Paulie took care of that.
  17. "Cowboy" Joe is alright. He's really f***ed over the Cubs a few times.
  18. You need to yank him before this gets out of hand
  19. He's been crappy but its still just 3-0. Last time I checked, you still have to score to win.
  20. According to JM this series is not do or die. Fire him now.
  21. They have to yank him
  22. If he holds them to 1, it'll be a good thing.
  23. I don't like the fact "Cowboy" Joe West is behind the plate. He starts squeezing you when your wild.

I was pissed when he said he didn't like pitching there last time. But he twirled a gem, so he can say what he wants. He made big pitches when he had to in Boston.
  25. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending how you look at it, thanks to bankrupt United Airlines, my flight was canceled, then put on stand by for 2 flights, which we didn't get on, then delayed an hour. I didn't get to the hotel until about 12:30 am, and went to bed. I missed the loss, saw the victories. Where they at the sports bar in the hotel? For anyone travelling to Boston and staying in the Back Bay, do not take a taxi. It was $35 for an 8 mile trip. The have vans that are $10.
