White Sox sign RHP Seranthony Domínguez, 2/20M
Dick Allen replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Schriffen called Ramos a future star in 2024. -
I look way better than him in it. Mine is a road gray.
-
I did a combo. Got a Ronald Belisario jersey for $20 at a season ticketholder event several years ago. Definitely a legend AND a one off.

Plenty of organizations do OK without money, and plenty don't. White Sox problem is they just hired familiarity and not someone who has been exposed to and is capable of putting together a team without much money. JR wasn't going to go down that path again. He did with Himes, and didn't like Larry because Larry wanted JR to stay out of his way. He built a 94 win team with the lowest payroll in baseball and got fired because JR couldn't take credit for any of the acquisitions.

If the Mets signed Tucker or Bellinger, they would have DFA'd Acuna.
-
i hope it all works out, but is there a prospect now that was as highly ranked as Moncada and Eloy and Kopech, and Cease and Robert? that didn' work out. Hopefully this one does, but i have my doubts.

Thanks Schriff.

I kind of like the Master.

Moncada back to Angels. 1 year/4 million

Westeddy Schriffen told us they wanted nothing to do with anyone signed previously. -

First ballot unanimous. -
The Bulls have to be fairly close. Their goal is NBA hell.
-
Eddy has told us there is no one off the board that the Sox would have been interested in.
-
I'm really starting to believe you are John Schriffen.

There was a huge question and Getz just admitted it. He's going to get active now becuase he has money to spend. Why, because Robert is gone. If they knew he would be gone, they could have become active long ago.
-
I think if Tucker signed with the Mets, the Mets wouldn't have traded for Robert. Now what other team would have taken even $18 million of his contract? Chances are, whoever they get from here on out this offseason, there will be some wastes of money.
-
I understand that. My point is the option shouldn't have been picked up in the first place. Sure, they would have $2 million less in their checking account, but if they now can spend money, a far larger pool of players to target, and not having to worry about dumping the contract, would have been available this winter. And Getz wouldn't have had to lie to White Sox fans about the team's desire to have Robert patrolling CF in 2026.
-
And again, if Kyle Tucker signs with the Mets, Robert is still a White Sox. Not to mention Getz now says they can get aggressive. Perhaps they wanted no one off the board at this time, but I doubt it. Risking $20 million for a potential $2 million in savings wouldn't be a risk I thought was worth it.
-
That's like saying, I got wasted and drive 10 miles home and make it with no accident or getting pulled over. I saved Uber fare. I won.
-
I really have no problem with the trade, What was insane was picking up Robert's option in the first place if the best you can do is what they did. If Tucker signs with the Mets, Luis Robert is doing exactly what you said would be insane.I'm thinking the Mets and Dodgers are probably the only teams in baseball that would take Robert without the Sox either eating money or taking a lot back. And from Getz's comments today, Robert's contract has hamstrung them all winter.

Say last june, Chris Getz decided to do something more his speed and become a ski instructor leaving the White Sox GM job open and JR to have to actually interview candidates. You have an interview and he asks what you would do with Robert. You say you would have to pick up his option, you may be able to get Luisangel Acuna for him. JR later looks him up in BR. I'm guessing you wouldn't get another interview.
-
He has to go get the Big Reins his calzone.
-
Now they add Conforto and Schriffen will start talking playoffs.
-
It worked out that way because Kyle Tucker went to the Dodgers. 9 times out of 10 it doesn't work. You gambled $20 million and the prize was Luisangel Acuna. The White Sox show why they are a horrible organization every day.
-
I guess Getz was lying when he stated on multiple occasions just how much the White Sox wanted Robert to be their CF. I guess the opportunity to acquire Acuna with little power, low OBP and the ability to play 2B was too good to pass up.
