I will say, Robert not having to be the obvious star of the team might be good for him, but chances are he will still miss 40 games. The Sox were going to be bad with Robert. Now they will be a little worse, but with $20 million off the books, JR probably has already locked in a profit. Bravo.

I never really understood his option being picked up. There are enough health and performance questions and the salary is large enough for enough teams where even if he shines, it’s a pennies on the dollar return. And if they keep him and he rakes, it won’t mean a playoff spot. Even though I am probably one of the biggest fans of his talent, this seams like a total waste of money, which is usually business as usual for White Sox off season acquisitions, just not $20 million a year.i can’t see them trading him now, they would have to eat money for mediocre prospects. Maybe he plays well enough to make them at least interesting to watch.

A Bears playoff victory in a dome in Hammond would be louder.

They would gain a bit more than Illinois, as they would have 50k-70k people spending their money many Sundays a year in IN that normally wouldn't. In IL, no difference between spending it in Chicago or Arlington Heights. It wouldn't be enough to come close to offestting the cost of building the stadium the Bears want and maintaining it, but still something.

Bears will not move to Indiana for one simple reason. They would have to do away with their song. Youre the pride and joy of Indiana does not fit. This dispute with property taxes in Arlington Heights is a hoot. They pay $3.6 million a year right now. Nothing to them.

How is it states make money building stadiums for these teams? If it is so lucrative why does the state still owe more money for Comiskey Park II and the Soldier Field renovation than the total cost of their construction?

The other thing about Kelenic is as bad as he is offensively, his defense sucks as well. Its worth the minor league contract, but if the Braves and Mariners couldn't do anything for him, I'm guessing the White Sox isn't a very good bet.

That’s all true, but JR is going to be 90 in a couple of months. He might still be sharp, he might not be. He most likely isn’t as smart as he used to be.

As bad as Benintendi is, Kelenic is a downgrade.

Looking at the history of public funding for stadiums, I find it hard to believe Kansas isn’t going to lose money on the deal, and a ton of it. But they get the Chiefs.

There is always incentive for the state to kick in some infrastructure because the state does benefit financially from having the teams here, just by state payroll taxes, and they do tax visiting teams.

The other good news is if he is what we all hope, his contract is up 2 years from the end of the Reinsdorf regime of terror, and Ishbias voice should be even louder. Hopefully White Sox fans being conditioned to believe we can't have nice things is coming to an end. Even though they would deny it, it's hard to believe Ishbia had nothing to do with this.

O Hearn might be a better hitter than this guy ultimately, but as a Sox fan, Id much rather have the bigger gamble at this stage.

Nice gamble, although it does make you pause thar the price is that low especially with the 2027 season up in the air. At the very least, you know if he hits it it could and probably will go
