  1. I really don't get the outpouring of support for Polanski. He drugged and anally raped a 13 year old girl, yet all sorts of celebrities and European politicians are rushing to his defense. Its going to be hard to convince myself to see another Scorcese or Wes Anderson film after their support for him.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) If it hasn't closed, there is a themepark pretty much across the street from the Astrodome anyway. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) oh. I retract my statement then. I didnt know that. Six Flags Astroworld closed in 2005.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 09:08 AM) My nickname is stretch armstrong. How does that even apply to a life insurance policy?
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 07:28 AM) I'm not ok with it. Why can't I get a policy on my neighbor, hoping that he dies? What gives these corporations a right to do this? Even if its just a cashier, the employer still has a a financial interest in the employee. You don't in your neighbor. BTW, I think that was a big part of the CDS/other crappy derivatives problem. They started out as insurance but eventually became massive bets by third parties with no real interest.
  5. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) So I loved their latest album so much I got their first and third. Both good albums. I can't stop listening to Fans and Ragoo. I listen to those two songs non-stop everyday and I haven't got tired of them. I'm gonna wait a bit to get their second album. Their 4th album is a huge disappointment imo, especially compared to how much I liked their first 3. I saw them the other weekend in Milwaukee and it was just a really boring show. Of course 90% of the people there only knew their couple of radio hits.
  6. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 04:09 PM) Indeed. But it's not how you start, it's how you finish. O-Line didn't look good at all, something needs to be done to cut down on all of the bone-headed mistakes during the bye week. Receivers dropped passes, the D choked on a late drive again. But even with all of that Miles Austin sets the record for most rec. yards by a Cowboy. This team's a little retarded, but I'll take the W. PS. I had Miles Austin starting in the Soxtalk league this week, I feel bad for whoever I'm facing. Don't worry. I'm not too far behind with Manning + Clark still to play.
  7. Wow. That ump should have been fired on the spot. This is a tough series as I hate both teams. Guess I'd rather stick with tradition and root for the Twins to be swept. Again.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Anyone hear the reporter from Denver that Bores and Bernsie interviewed today? Wow... just wow. The basic premise of this guys argument... Orton is better than Cutler because Orton makes the defense better. The interview can be heard here. That was great. I loved the text messages they read afterward.
  9. More FB stupidness: Our foreign policy has now been officially put in a straitjacket by the Nobel committee. BHO will now spend the rest of his presidency trying to live up to his international image as a pacifist and an appeaser. He's going to make Neville Chamberlain look like a hawk.
  10. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) So he admitted he felt humbled and didn't deserve it, and accepted the award. Seems like pretty much what he had to do. What's funny about this is, some of people's ire seems misdirected. Why blame Obama? Did he vote? Did he ask for this? Did he say he deserved it? Blame the Nobel committee for being stupid. No no no, its a grand international conspiracy to boost Obama's ratings for health care! When did conservatism jump the shark?
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Oh, god. He just accepted it. The man didn't even have the sense to turn it down. Yeah, because that would have done anything besides appease a few mouthbreathers. But they'd probably still find a way to criticize him for it.
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:10 AM) I was only talking about here... I don't really read anywhere else. Oh man, you're missing out.
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) DAMN!!! DNC Goes Nuclear on the Republican Party- Go back to 2004, replace "DNC" with "RNC". Its the same god damn s***. I hate politics.
  14. Well, he's the first black President and the first Kenyan to win the Nobel!
  15. QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) guys i'm definitely not a "see the world in black+white" kind of person, I just get a little turned off when I see Obama milking his celebrity. Nobody else feels the same way? If he actually shot the commercial as President, you'd have a point.
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:57 AM) REP's aren't the ones bringing it up. Strawman. Here, no. MASSIVE OUTRAGE!!!! ARG! elsewhere, yes.
  17. BTW, that George Lopez commercial is from the '08 campaign. I was really confused at first, too.
  18. Also, the Republican line is that he should decline to award. Or hand it over to someone who deserves it. Like Reagan.
  19. Dumb facebook comment: This just proves that the strings that pull on BHO also are attached to the Nobel committee. My money's on George Soros, Peter Lewis, et al.
  20. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:46 AM) Are you serious? Do you not realize that half the s*** Obama gets is for being a narcissist, for being the world-perceived Messiah? He got nominated for the Nobel Prize TWO WEEKS INTO HIS ADMINISTRATION. For doing what exactly? In the past few years, this award has been given to Jimmy Carter for speaking out against George W. Bush, now, it’s been given to Obama for not BEING Him. These are the questions that are going to be asked for the next couple of months. People are going to start examining the man, and his accomplishments and when that happens they just might realize that, yeah, this emperor has a Nobel peace prize, but he also has not clothes How does the nomination or award reflect negatively on Obama himself?
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) HAHA REALLY? THIS is one of the worst things that could have happened for Obama? Not an Israeli strike on Iran? Not another banking collapse? Not 20% unemployment? GETTING THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE ARE YOU SERIOUS!!
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:39 AM) Well in the spirit of posting asinine Facebook comments from friends, here's mine: "Seriously, the Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah, that wasn't staged to help his ratings." Haha like the US president has EVER had ANY sort of influence over their decisions. If that was true then every one would have one. That is an offshoot from a completely US-centric mindset, I'd imagine.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) The thing is, if Bush won a nobel for his AIDS work, I wouldn't have been talking crap on him. That was one thing he did that I was an ardent supporter of. But a lot of the left probably would have been. They certainly were when he was nominated.
