2016 Olympics
QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) Not trying to busterize this, but there are countries who won't vote for America right now, Obama or not. ABC has been laying it all on anti-Americanism in the IOC.

Wow.

2016 Olympics
Why is Chicago separated from the other cities? edit: first round of voting is open now, btw.

2016 Olympics
Daley was probably his usual condescending self. I don't think I've ever heard him speak without sounding like an asshole.

The Finer Things In Life
For majors, I can drink Blue Moon or Killians without a problem. Medalla Light tasted like somehow watered-down Miller Lite. I don't quite know how they did it.

Also, WTF is with conservatives politicizing and bashing the Olympics now? They're just using it to take shots at Obama.

Just the regular stuff, cristal I believe. The most popular beer there, Medella Light, is pretty awful.

Rotten Tomatoes: Worst of the Worst
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) But most of the movies Knight mentioned were intentionally bad. Brooks wasn't going for that. They were also intentionally unfunny, unoriginal and unentertaining.

We're about to finish off our bottle from PR but don't want to until we've another source. It was $10/L or something ridiculously cheap like that at the airport.

There are enough people taking him seriously that he's not going to disappear. I'll steal a line from where I got this video: "There's an inverse ratio happening here. Glenn gets crazier and in the process he gets less scary yet more entertaining. Conversely, his fans get crazier and in the process they get scarier and much less entertaining."

The Finer Things In Life
I've tried finding it at their stores (Downers Grove and Orland) with no luck.

It's Okay Everybody, Glenn Has It All Figured Out!

Healthcare reform
Sure, but that was to get around the unPatriotic obstructionist Democrats, not to ram legislation down our throats!

2016 Olympics
I remember thinking last summer during the Olympics "October 2009? That's so far away!" Yeah, it really wasn't. Stupid time always going by faster.

The Finer Things In Life
Anyone know where to get some Don Q rum around Chicago?

Healthcare reform
That's impossible. Any sector that the government is in has zero private or more-successful competitors. Except for all those that do.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) I am. Because it will. Oh wait, the government is going to subsidize everything - aka, we'll give you money if you do what we say. And that's still taking over private industry. Why doesn't that happen in every country with far more government involvement in health care/ insurance than what's being proposed here? Why doesn't reality match conservative ideology?

2A challenge to state/local bans in play
Yeah, but they're appointed for life so that they aren't pressured by politics so much.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) Ok. and what effect do you think that is going to have? I have to get the public option or I have to pay a penalty to pay for the public option anyway. Gees. Or, the third option you've completely left off, you buy a private insurance plan and pay no penalty.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Sep 30, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) "Iiffff Youuu (youuuu) likeee (likkeeee) yoouurrr (youuur) current (current) plannnnn (plannnn) youuuu (youuu) can (can) keeeeeep (keeep) ittt (ittt)." Please. HB3200 totally dismisses that - TECHNICALLY that's correct but everyone gets pushed over to the "public option" eventually and that is what pisses people off. And that's exactly what's going to get "reconciled". Again, and again, and again, the majority of people do not want GOVERNMENT providing the country health care. Reform? Hell yes. Government takeover? Hell no. No, they don't, unless you're still in the "it'll bankrupt every private insurer" fantasy land.

How did you find your job?
Through a headhunter/ recruiter, *hopefully*

No, no one is telling you that, kap.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 29, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) I have to paraphrase Andrew Sullivan, who brought up a brilliant point. The most disgusting part of their misguidance, is that they are implying that the problem with Hitler wasn't his murder of millions of Jews, or his starting a world war, but his ECONOMIC POLICIES were what was wrong with him. They're trying to link Obama to all of Hitler's atrocity through extremely weak ties in economics. Any mention of Hitler, no matter how unrelated, immediately conjures up fascism, oppression and the Holocaust.

Healthcare reform
A bunch of right-center Democrats were elected last round. That's why I laughed when people were ranting about "ZOMG! Obama and Pelosi are going to shove ultra-lib down our throats!" It was never going to happen because of two reasons: the Democrats are huge p*****s and many Democrats are not liberals.

No. Its impossible to consider that they really were as incompetent as Woodward's books portrayed. He was just lying for money.
