QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politic...ntion/87644542/ Not surprisingly, lots of false claims last night. • Kaine claimed that Trump said he “wants to abandon” our NATO allies. Trump has said that he doesn’t want the U.S. to leave NATO, but has suggested he would not automatically defend NATO allies that do not pay their share of defense costs. So Kaine was correct, not sure why that's included. Monthly renewable energy production has increased by about 40% from January 2009 to April 2016, far from the 100% increase Obama claimed. While it is true that wind and solar power have more than doubled since 2008 (they’ve nearly quadrupled, in fact), they represent only part of the renewable energy picture. Less than a third of renewable energy consumption in April came from wind and solar. Renewable and clean are not the same word. Ethanol is not a clean energy source. Since then, the yearly deficits have declined markedly. In fiscal year 2015, which ended last Sept. 30, the deficit was $438 billion, a drop of 69% from FY 2009. So another factual claim from Obama. Panetta was referring to a Trump interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier in May. As we’ve written before, Baier asked Trump whether he had talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump refused to answer, and went on to say that “I know Russia well” because “I had a major event in Russia two or three years ago,” referring to the 2013 pageant. So panetta was again correct, and they're arguing against something he didn't claim. A fact check that criticizes arguments that weren't actually made is pretty garbage but all too common.

Hope this election helps demonstrate why term limits are ineffectual and anti democratic. Obama would be crushing trump right now if he were allowed to run, and a majority of the country would be happy about that.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 10:35 AM) I put everyone ahead of Reagan. Same.

Note that with the fake IRS scandal stuff with Obama, it was some two bit groups and not the major conservative pacs who actually mattered. It'd be weird to deliberately target irrelevant groups only.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:39 AM) I think anyone who tries to rank one of these two above or below the other in honesty and character looks foolish. These two are cut from the same cloth. All you can look at are the positions and argue those. But to compare one against the other on any character scale is just scary. It's actually pretty easy to rank the racist orange clown man narcissist below Hillary Clinton in terms of character

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) I do have to laugh at the wikileaks reversal of opinions. When the topic was Iraq War, the right wing was calling the leakers traitors, and questioning the source, while the left just embraced the information. Now when the topic is the DNC and Hillary, the left is worried about the source and the right just embraced the information. I wonder why we never go anywhere politically... Wikileaks has always been garbage and just dumps data without any regard for privacy. That's how basically every woman in a major political party in Brazil got doxxed recently. They also have close ties to Russias rt propaganda channel and their response to the Panama papers has been very pro putin. Compare how wikileaks handles info versus the group that got the Panama papers.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) I really hope that's a smaller sidebar to requresting a hack of your political rival. Do we honestly think Trump as president wouldn't use IRS against rivals the way that Nixon did? FBI surveillance? No, because he would be open and bragging about it

76% and 5,678 electoral votes, which is enough to allow her to replace every SC justice if she wants, and she also gets to pass 1 major piece of legislation without Congressional approval. It's in Article 12.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) What do we need to (realistically, if possible) happen for no one to get enough electoral votes? There's a couple of ways it could split and end up 269/269, in which case it'd go to the House and we'd end up with President Trump.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) I think the Dems are going to be WAY more loyal to Hillary, than the Reps are to Trump. Probably at least 2:1, if not a lot more. No current polling supports that.

Has anyone done an analysis of the impact of GOTV efforts versus poll numbers? I'm thinking back to 2012, where Obama had a really well-run GOTV effort with significant data and tech behind it whereas the Romney campaign's Orca project was a complete disaster. This year, story after story has shown how Trump's campaign has little to no data efforts, shuttered state offices, and really no ground game to speak of in many states. Should we "expect" Clinton to overperform the polls based on GOTV disparities?

Both McCain and Romney got convention bumps so I don't know what cnn is talking about. Oh they appear to be talking about just the CNN poll rather than the aggregate. Overall his bump is pretty mixed and certainly not the biggest ever. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/polltracker/t...clinton-cnn-orc edit: oh and for that CNN poll, they didn't even have enough responses to form an 18-34 demographic group. Phone polling in the future is only going to get harder. But like with the rest of the polls, throw 'em on the pile and watch the averages (which do have Trump slightly ahead)

Trump demonstrates to Chuck Todd that he doesn't seem to have any idea what the wto is or does but that he'd consider pulling out of it. https://twitter.com/BraddJaffy/status/757201521616547840 The best brain, doesn't need to read things, gut feeling always right
-
Yep, that's pretty much it. Just start whining about talking points and bias without actually being responsive to anything that's being said.
-
Trump was also busy over the weekend doubling down on his nato comments and completely dismissing the couple of dozen or so sexual harassment allegations against Roger Ailes.

How common is it for a campaign manager to work for free? That's what manafort is doing.
