  1. you dope, you gotta rub an eraser across the contacts!
  2. Four people killed in mass shooting as Wayne LaPierre blamed 90's movies and videogames: http://www.wjactv.com/news/news/sources-1-...blair-co/nTcf5/
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 12:13 PM) 100,000 public schools in the US, at least one armed guard for each school, $50,000 per year salary for each guard = At least $5,000,000,000 per year added to the education budget. Most schools can barely even afford enough teachers and books. A substantial VAT on all guns and ammunition to pay for it. At least cover the cost of your externalities.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 11:43 AM) I wish I could find the absurdity funny, but I'm realizing how f***ed we are to do anything when they are this far apart.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) #8 is 100% true though. I still can't believe they interviewed kids HOURS after the shooting. Maybe so, but it's still pretty dumb for the NRA to be using that as a defense of their gun policies.
  6. jayrosen_nyu 9:33am via Web Exact quote just now from the NRA press conference. "This is the beginning of a serious conversation. We won't be taking any questions."
  7. the NRA is insane edit: ha, most of their references are to 90's-era movies and games. Mortal Kombat! Natural Born Killers!
  8. Will McAvoy ‏@WillMcAvoyACN So, the NRA's position is a national database of the mentally ill isn't an invasion of privacy, but registering firearms is?
  9. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 11:02 AM) Really, these are the officer's goals? goals? no. reasonably likely outcomes, perhaps more likely than 1 & 2? I'd say yes.
  10. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 10:58 AM) Like I mentioned earlier, the officer has two goals in these circumstances: 1) Take down the shooter 2) Delay shooter enough to prevent mass shootings before backup arrives 3) be on the other side of the building from where the shooter starts shooting, being as much as a city block and a floor or two away 4) taking the first bullet fired directly in the skull
  11. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) how is one guy gonna guard a whole school? plus those costs add up. We need to turn schools into prison-like complexes with a single ingress/egress portal. Lock that s*** down like high security. Of course, actual high security facilities never fail their drills or casual assaults by nuns and old hippies, right?!
  12. tbf a lot of suburban middle- and upper-class high schools already have "resource officers" that hang out on campus for various issues, though I remember him carrying and he split time between two campuses. But then again, he wasn't intended to be an armed responder to a shooting.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Someone should ask him "What happens if a crazed gunman ambushes & kills the armed officer? Then what?" Someone should ask him "what happens if a student overpowers your bored security guard and takes the gun you've introduced into the school?" "What happens if he's in the s***er when someone breaks in and shoots up an entire classroom in 4 minutes?"
  14. LOL. At least they waited a whole week before saying this asinine s***. Hey, schools are already chronically underfunded and understaffed! Let's add armed guards to every one! MOAR GUNZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 09:26 AM) And if we banned them here, you would change that completely. Where would Mexico's supply come from? Right now it comes from the US, because guns are largely illegal in that country.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 09:26 AM) That is the left wings policy on immigration and drugs right now. Liberals are arguing for an open-borders and zero-drug-restrictions policy? Libertarians and leftist anarchists, maybe, but not your run-of-the-mill liberals and Democrats.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 09:13 AM) Thankfully we don't have any issues with trafficking in this country where things like drugs and illegals can easily get into the country... The problem with gun smuggling is generally out of the US, not into it.
  18. Whatever legislation eventually gets proposed, it needs to do something to address this: Print your own gun!
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) That's wasn't the question. I know, I was pointing out that it's an irrelevant question to what claufield and BS were saying. BS said we should hold gun dealers accountable for weapons that get stolen from them because those weapons can be used to kill people, not because someone may get killed in a gun store robbery. edit: The equivalent scenario might be holding the bank managers personally liable for the missing funds? edit2: I don't know if I even agree with BS's idea of holding the gun dealers personally criminally responsible, but it's still not analogous to people killed in the process of a robbery.
  20. People don't get killed by money stolen from banks
  21. You might say boehner's "plan b" wasb an abortion
  22. I imagine bs's point is that it's yet another incident of a law-abiding citizen's gun falling into the wrong hands and that this gun shouldn't even be available for someone to steal in the first place. Edit: xpost
