Nope......1-0 shutout.....9 game lead in the division......I'll take it cause we've got a monster stretch coming up.....

Records are 0-0 once the playoffs start, no doubt about it......but I still really like our pitching.....as you admitted, Bondo and JV are studs, Robertson has actually been good recently.....he's just been bitten with bad run support....he gave up 2 runs in TB his last start and that's been about par for the course.......Miner will not be in the playoff rotation and Rogers is a wild card......he's had a horendous 2d half so far.....but he did shut you guys down, and, after a bad 1st inning today, he shut down a pretty tough Cleveland team too.......Maroth will be back in a few weeks and before he went down, he was in the top 5 in ERA for the league........plus we have a great middle relief, a guy you might have heard of named Zumaya and our own personal rollercoaster of a closer Jones......who by the way is 13-13 in his last saves while giving up only 2 runs (one was a HR by Pujols)........while our starters have come back to earth a little, we still have the best ERA in the league and, like you said, that's the key in the playoffs...... Either way, it's going to be an interesting next 3 months!!

I like AJ.......I like the attitude he brings to the game.....I think it's unfortunate he gets the rap he does and yes it is a double standard......I like the play at home he made and the slap at the plate.......it's a guy being fired up, and it's unnatural to tell a guy to supress that because it's not how the game is played......

Being over the top with his emotions means to me that he's not showing anyone up.....nothing more...if you don't like his celebration, that's fine..... If he wants to do cartwheels from 1st to 3d after a homerun like tonight, that would be fine with me......this game NEEDS more emotion as far as I'm concerned....... I enjoy seeing other people's perspectives on sports........especially from teams in our division and in the pennant race......we have a forum for the Tigers where we do the same things you do...and when you win, we get frustrated as well.......and if there were any CWS fan that posted over there, I'd expect them to call us out if we said you guys sucked, couldn't hit and weren't for real.......... I'm all about the frustration when the team you're chasing wins in their final at bats two nights in a row.....but trying to diminish the accomplishment by somehow implying that they're playing over their head, and that they're going to come back down to earth, or they'll blow it in the playoffs is just ridiculous..... beach all you want......but if I'm not mistaken, this is public forum and the subject IS Tiger watch.....so, if you don't like being called out by a Tigers fan, just read the posts next time.......

Pudge please go do some more steroids. Are the Tigers still claiming to be a real team? No real team wins from behind at will. The question is how many Tiger fans had to sell their souls for this season to happen? This was your original post I commented on....I'm not picking a fight....but I WILL call you out when you're whining like some guy just kicked sand in your face and stole your girlfriend.......go take more steroids?!....that's a 4th grade comeback........ No, you're right prospects are exactly that and there aren't any gurantees......but I'll bet you'll be hearing a lot of Miller (this Sept as a matter of fact) and Maybin in the near future.......

I'll agree with you that we don't have the power you have in your lineup, but to say our lineup is pedestrian is wrong. We' have 5 players hitting above or right around .300, we have Dimitri Young who, since he returned from his personal issues, is batting over .400 with 5 hrs.......we won't hit more HRs than the CWS, but I'll take our lineup going into the playoffs.......every team in the pennant race has issues and weaknesses and to be surprised if the team with the best record in baseball reaches the World Series is a little naive...... Well, when you have as many walkoffs as Big Papi has, it becomes almost routine...when you only have 9 hrs for the entire year and one of them is a walkoff coming from behind...I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt........ That's the type of player he is......if you watched the first game of this series when Monroe hit the HR in the bottom of the 8th, Pudge was on 1st....he did exactly the same thing, hands in the air, pumping his fist.....can you show someone up when you're just running the bases?! He's just very emotional, a great leader, and a HUGE reason why we're in the position we're in right now...

See...now I DO have to read posts better....I'll take the hit on that one Heads....I'm just a bit fired up by the Sox fans here tonight.....usually there's been a lot of appreciation both ways, but there seems to be a lot of backhanded compliments here tonight...... If you think that Pudge was showing up the Indians, then you don't know him very well....He is a VERY emotional player and that's ALL that was....you may not like it, especially if you were hoping he'd strike out and NOT hit a walk off...........and EVERYONE hurls their helmet in the air on walkoffs so they don't get their nose broken by their helmet when everyone starts hitting him on the head when he reaches the base........yeah, he was having a lot of fun running the bases....don't like it as a player, strike him out.....don't like it as a fan....don't watch.....

I didn't take your original post as an insult. I took it as you whining because you're not making up any ground even though you've have a great stretch over the last week or so (go ask Minn how that feels, you can share their pain) Don't give me this crap about how we've come back in late innings this year...you've done the same damn thing countless times as well with your big bats.......better than the best case scenario?! What the hell does that mean? They have been insanely consistent this entire year. 36-18 over the first 1/3 of the season and 36-18 over the 2/3 of the season. They have a great mix of young players and veterans......when one guy starts to slump, another guy picks him up.....that's a sign of a GREAT team, not a lucky one as you seem to imply.......yeah, our rookies have been great....and we've got guys like Miller, Sanchez and Maybin coming up in then near future......you think this is a one year and done fluke?! Enjoy your fantasy......

Tigers fans keep doing this because we find it funny how last your season was magical. Your season was special. Your season was dominating. Your pitching was out of the world. But OUR season is an anomoly. Sorry, can't have it both way.....I know sarcasm. This was whining.

What is it with baseball snobs...so f-ing what if he ran around the bases screaming and waving his arms....it was a 2 out, 2 run, bottom of the 9th walk off homerun from a very emotional leader........I think baseball NEEDS more emotion in it....this "You can't pump your fist and look into my dugout" or "Don't stand and watch your homerun after you hit it" or "Don't yell and scream and show emotion" baseball is boring and outdated...I love it when there's emotion and personality injected into the game......if you don't like it, then turn it off and watch your catcher slap homeplate after running over the catcher, or your closer pump his fist and yell after a big strikeout in a save situation....cause that's okay for the game, right?!

About the same amount of CWS fans last year.....dude, get real with your posts.....Tigers not a real team? You need to go post on the thread with the Twins and BoSox because they're the ones you have to worry about right now......No real team wins from behind?! Realize, guys you are facing our best pitcher right now....except for his last start vs KC, he's been lights out for about 2 months.....he'll start game 1 in the playoffs should we get there......

As a Tiger fan, I can tell you how happy I am about that last inning....Having said that, and this pains me to say, if the Tigers don't make additions (Abreu, Soriano, etc) we won't beat you guys in the playoffs.....you have a better team right now and I don't think we can beat you in a 5 or 7 game series.......your lineup is crazy good and if you get half decent pitching, you're hard to beat.....besides the fact that the Tigers are a very impatient batting team and you can take advantage of that......I know you're frustrated right now (like us Tiger fans were last night) but the big picture is that you guys will be fine come playoffs.....

Well your hitting has definitely been lights out all year....hopefully they don't continue for the next 3 days . There was an interesting discussion on a Detroit forum about who they'd rather win between the CWS vs NYY. Many actually were rooting for you saying they'd rather take the chance of losing the division to you and win the WC, than have the Yankees hanging around.....I was not one of those people, but while I obviously hope we sweep you guys this week, nothing would make me happier than two teams coming out of the central this year.......here's to a great series.........

I'm pretty sure I know when the season ends....that still doesn't answer the question about your starting pitching......are you or are you not happy with your starting pitching? Do you think they can turn it around and be as good as they were last year, or do you need to trade for a starter to end the year....

I agree, it's going to be a blast over the next few months...... I don't know if our pitching will be able to keep up its pace of the first half.......realize that one of our starters, Maroth, was having a great start to the season....top 5 in ERA before he had surgery...he's ahead of schedule for an August return.....when he gets back, we can throw out a 6-man rotation that will give our guys a break....not to mention a guy named Sanchez in AAA who started the Future's game, pitched 1 inning and struck out 2......most pundents say this guy is major league ready right now.....he can come in a spot start our young guys like Verlander..... I know I'm not telling you anything, but I'd be pretty concerned if I was a White Sox fan right now with your starting pitching.....continuing as I type this with Garcia getting hit in the first.......you've had some very dramatic wins with your big bats coming through with huge innings and big run production.....if those big guns ever cool off, you might be in a bit of trouble, not only with trying to win the division, but even fending off the Yanks or BoSox for the WC........ I

Do we WANT to play better than .500 vs the Sox? Sure. Would we be excited about it? Absolutely. The point is that if we play .500 vs you guys the rest of the way, we're going to take the division.....

I meant .500 for the rest of the series........which is close to what your final record would be.....
