  1. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) Grazie' What was the sox line?
  2. Finally a relatively stress-free 1st inning!
  3. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) Im liking the line Vegas put up on this game in regards to the Sox winning this game. Im also liking KC chances tonight against Verlander judging by the line. We will see if I am right. I didn't take the Sox tonight but I did take KC for a small wager. I hope you hit it!
  4. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 04:25 PM) I'd be surprised if Rios and Dunn didn't pass through waivers too. Maybe even Ramirez. I'll bet they both would have been claimed.
  5. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 11:12 AM) I really want Buehrle back. I don't care what his contract is. He's a proven pitcher and could help out the younger pitchers on the staff. You'll care what his contract is in '2014-15.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) And for the record, I like Hawk. I will miss him when he is gone. But people are welcome to their opinions each way, I could totally understand how Hawk could begin to grate on someone. It's fine to say that, too. I don't mind it. What I do mind is when people make blanket statements or insinuate that there is no room for reasonable minds to disagree by insulting the competing position. That is stating opinions as fact, or at the very least, projecting a level of arrogance that needn't be tolerated.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 03:13 PM) How would you assume otherwise when the thread is about something that is subjective? I don't get that. We aren't talking about something that is provable in this thread. This isn't about Hawks career high in homers, it is about his broadcasting talents. Nothing about this thread is going to be factual. I've often seen certain posters frame their opinions as facts. Not sure why you seem to think one cannot express an opinion as if it were a fact merely because the topic itself doesn't lend itself to a factual analysis. In my opinion, NSS does this quite often, and I find it to be irritating. However, as I stated earlier, I realize he was responding directly to a request for what Hawk could do to be better, so I admitted it was my mistake in this instance.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) Everyone is stating opinions in this thread. The whole idea of "good" and "bad" broadcasting is 100% subjective. They should be stated as such then. Obviously it would be quite foolish of me to criticize someone for stating their opinion as fact if I was then stating my opinion as fact. Thus, I state what it is that I enjoy about his broadcasting. However, I suppose someone did ask NSS what he thought, so he was merely responding to a question that was asked of him. My mistake.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 01:28 PM) He could start by getting rid of the tons of dead air he leaves. And getting rid of some of the irritating, drawl-laden catch phrases. A few of those are OK, but he does it to a cartoonish level. He also gets way the heck off game topic far too often. And frankly, he is almost incapable of doing PBP, which is a problem when he's in the booth with another analyst type like Stone (except Stone actually analyzes the game at hand, not games that happened decades ago). Part of the problem with the current team isn't either of their faults - they are both analysts, not PBP guys, and you really need one of each to make it work well. Honestly, you are watching the game on television. You can see exactly what is happening in HD, down to the blades of grass on the field. I don't feel like we really need play-by-play in depth as what you might once have needed. I actually enjoy hearing more background stuff or philosophical discussions about the game rather than the guy repeating the same things over and over in describing something that I can see with my very own eyes quite well. As described in the article, however, he certainly is polarizing, and you are obviously one of those who feels he has overstayed his welcome. That's your opinion and you have your right to that. But that's where it ends...it is your opinion, not fact...so quit stating it as such.
  10. Btw, folks...this is actually a much longer article than ss2k excerpted. Make sure you click on the link to read the rest.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 12:07 PM) I like him even more that I'm older. There are so many games to watch, but I really get a kick out of the s*** he says. He's so damn sincere all the time. He really MEANT it that andy gonzalez could be special! I love making fun of the guy. I love when a big play happens, I replay it over and over and laugh my ass off. It might not be what I'd say I'd want if I were to choose a broadcaster, but he's mine and i can't help but love the guy. Hatelove. DROP THE BALL I agree. I've started recording the more memorable things he says on my phone from my dvr so I can replay them at a moment's notice
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 28, 2012 -> 10:35 AM) Wait, he's off the DL? Yep...he just pitched.
  13. That was a tough one...but we didn't deserve that one much either.
  14. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 27, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Alright, flare it to right, Gordon. Or left
