QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) If you can convince Ozzie that Kotsay shouldn't be starting against right handed pitchers, the Sox can afford to keep him. But when Teahen gets back, Kotsay may cost Viciedo or Lillibridge a spot on the team. Both of those have done positive things for the team on the field. I do believe that Kotsay brings good chemistry and the guys on the team like him, but you can't risk on-field performance. The team is here to win ball games, not to make friends. Put him on the damn DL and let him travel with the team...who cares...

DH Game 1: Buehrle (9-8, 4.15 ERA) v Porcello (4-9, 5.50 ERA)
iamshack replied to BigSqwert's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We should platoon Carlos and Dayan at DH, let Jones and Teahen platoon in RF, keep Lilli on the bench, and tell Kotsay to catch Threets' turf toe for a few weeks til the rosters expand... -

QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:05 PM) Back to the whole attraction thing ..I think it's very important to be attracted to your partner immediately ...other wise when I get bored or they piss me off, if I'm not attracted and their personality was the only thing keeping me around, I'm out! SEE YA!! ...With Chase, he can piss me off and annoy the piss out of me every day of the week if he wanted to ..I would take one look at him and forget all about it ...then I would take advantage of him ..then we wouldn't be arguing anymore and it's all good. If it was someone I wasn't just incredibly attracted to ..I would get annoyed or pissed and one look at them would make me completely disgusted ..I say hurtful things ..and then I tell them to get out of my life and ignore all phone calls and texts and block them on facebook! haha ..yes, being blocked on facebook is like the ultimate "I don't like you, you gross me out" move for me! Oh Bren...you are something else...

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) I have. I don't agree with it. Clearly we have two different opinions. I respect yours and I would never force someone into marriage if they didn't believe in it being something more/special/etc. I happen to and found the person I will spend the rest of my life with and have every intent of staying by her side in good times and bad. We are a team. Is it cliche, sure. Have a million others said it and gotten divorced, absolutely, does that mean I'm not going to try, absolutely not. (albeit I sure as hell don't plan on it and have always said I would wait it out till I found the one and I did). Let me make clear that I do not have anything against people who get married. What pisses me off is the married people who look down their nose at unmarried people. And let's make another thing clear, the latter happens a hell of a lot more than the former.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) I meant among AL shortstops. I think Furcal deserves the award in the NL. Nobody in the AL is close. And that includes Andrus, who I've been in love with for about three years. Actually I was looking at the wrong stat, as Balta pointed out. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) Correction, that 15.2 is UZR/150 (normalized to a 150 game season). Oh you're right! I thought that seemed odd that Furcal was so close to Alexei all the sudden. Thanks Balta. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:35 PM) Yeah, I should've been more specific. And to whitesoxfan 101, it's not even close. Alexei is pwning his position defensively. Go to fangraphs. Furcal is actually closing fast...this is the issue with UZR...it is very dependent on a player's opportunities out of his zone... -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) Ahh, so it's already started. Anybody know where Alexei ranks metrically among SS's defensively? I'm thinking more specifically in relationship to Andrus, but in general as well. He has a 15.2 UZR. Tops in baseball by a hair over Furcal. Andrus is a 2.2 UZR. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) They should just abolish the damn award. The voters have made a mockery out of what was once a legitimate accomplishment. Isn't it voted on by the players and coaches? -
QUOTE (girlslikebaseballtoo#26 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) That's the point I was trying to make! That's what it means to me, and was supposed to mean to everyone when they make that commitment, but people have twisted it all up. I think it's nice to make that commitment...but I think it can be made just as seriously without having some legal construct involved.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:15 PM) So what, that doesn't mean if two people want to they shouldn't go get married. Obviously I have my intents and who knows what will happen but I got married because I plan on being with the same person the rest of my life. I know when push comes to shove, she'll be there for me and I'll be there for her. And just because someone made a mistake or stuff happens and some people get divorced doesn't make marriage any less significant to me as an individual. I could care less if someone doesn't want to get married, but to me, marriage means a hell of a lot more than a contract. It means an eternal commitment. Keep reading Jas...

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:16 PM) I will always hate Juan Pierre (I hate him the second most on ST behind Kalapse) and yes, I will actually give him praise for hitting a ball farther than I ever thought he would hit a ball. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) I might not be able to specifically state one factual thing about it, but I think it signifies a very special bond between two people (or at least that is what it should signify). Right. It is a symbol...I'm just not sure it's worth all this trouble just to be a symbol...
