QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) The Bears win this game if Conte does his job. He could've done his job poorly, he couldve just jogged next to Cobb and Rodgers won't toss it. But he didn't do it all, what a nice going away present from that piece of s***. I wonder if on that play it was really his fault. He went to cover the under. He might have been doing the right thing there, I dunno.

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:33 PM) Something ironic about the strong-armed QB not even being able to reach the end zone there. He played a strong game though, no real complaints with Cutler. Yeah let's ignore the pretty awful first half. Cutler is simply not a franchise QB. He's a thrower, not a passer. He didn't lose the game for the Bears, but he didn't win it either. You can tell the difference between Rogers and Cutler - extended drives, extended plays and great decisions with the ball. I'd rather the Bears scrap the team and rebuild the next year or two and build around the O-line, Marshall and Jeffrey. Put that 16-18 million into some safeties and d-lineman.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) To force that exact scenario because nobody is stopping anybody. no coach in the world is going to chance not going up by 8 if they have the opportunity. you cannot lose and you require 2 scoring plays.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:58 PM) Because if you fail and the Bears score again and convert a 2PAT you're a TD + FG to tie instead of win. Why would the Bears go for 2 though? I'd rather be up 8 for sure than 7 or 9.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) There's nothing idiotic in pointing out that the team looked bad in one specific area that Lovie really focused on and always seemed to have his team well-coached in. I really don't know why you think that's such a controversial or absurd idea. That's all anyone ever said. You're being ridiculous on this so I'm done responding at this point. Stop backtracking. It was one idiotic play that you called Tucker out on. Packers players were standing around too. The Bears are playing an otherwise decent defensive game here, so you (and others) insinuating that that one idiotic play was Tuckers fault is moronic.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:27 PM) You know...that is kind of a good point I guess...but that doesn't say very much for the Bears. I was going to say....you've seen this defense give up 250-300 RUSHING in a game. Let alone total yards.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:25 PM) Nobody seriously wants Love back. That didn't work out, the great defense pitiful offense. Lovie was going to get worse as opposed to better (wed be picking #1 overall if we had the same coaching as last year). Certain things he preached though this team lacks, and a huge one is the tenacity to getting the football on D. Hey I don't disagree there, I'm just saying it's idiotic to say a Lovie coached team would have been better WHEN MOST OF THE GUYS ON THE TEAM WERE COACHED BY LOVIE. Also Alshon, I love you.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) It's pretty idiotic to think how they played on every other play has anything to do with the lack of discipline on the one specific play that was being talked about. And it's not absurd to think that a coach who had a pretty good track record when it came to guys swarming loose balls wouldn't have a problem with guys not swarming loose balls. Nobody was saying Lovie should still be here, or that this defense would be fantastic/good/not-terrible with him here. Just that on one particular play, he always coached his team well not to make the exact type of mistake that lead to an easy TD. I'm sure Tucker loved that his players looked foolish. That wasn't your comment and you know it. You're blaming Tucker for some supposed lack of good coaching despite the fact that these guys were coached by the guy you are praising. Just give it up and admit you made an idiotic statement.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:21 PM) You did a decent job of leaving out the 130+ passing Yards Rodgers had in the first half. The Bears gave up ~200 yards in that half, which is pretty poor and about what they've averaged much of the season (and the conditions play somewhat to the defense today). They did keep them out of the end zone I'll give them that...it wasn't a "terrible" first half, but it wasn't playing "well" either. um, I'd take 260 yards passing for the game from Rodgers everyday of the week. And I'd take 400 yds against the Packers every day of the week too.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:12 PM) why are you being dumb and thinking that anyone is saying anything like this? Because you said something equally idiotic - a Lovie coached team wouldn't have done that. That's just absurd. Most of these guys were coached by Lovie. Edit: it's also idiotic because the defense played "well" (relative) that half - 13 points, 62 rushing yards & forced 2 turnovers.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) Lovie was a major hindrance to the offense. He had a decent run here, but it was time for him to go and I don't know that he'll get another HC shot given his inability to work with a decent OC. That doesn't take away the positive effects he had on the defense though, or change how they really did constantly swarm loose balls. I agree whole heartedly with everything you said here. But I think blaming a guy for clear player mistakes is just straight up idiotic.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) That wasn't what happened, but I know your hatred of Lovie is blinding you to how his defense really did swarm to every ball and pick up everything on the ground, even obvious incompletions. Did you hear a whistle? It's absolutely basic football to continue playing until you hear the whistle. And again, let's all forget how many of these guys were coached by that God Among Men, Lovie Smith.
