Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:53 PM) Seeing this and knowing there's more how can one person here be upset? The young talent we already have (Rodon, Fulmer, Anderson, Q, if they keep him), is better than what the Cubs had to start with too. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) Hey great. Did you notice the emphasis on position players that they brought in? Did you notice the half a billion dollars they spent in free agency? They also made ~12 trades. Theo wasn't judged on the first 2. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) We will be picking high in the draft for the rest of the decade, that is for sure. How long did the Cubs rebuild take? And how long will they be a dominant force? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) Funny, that is exactly what the rebuild was supposed to be about now. He's only two moves in! And he got the best position player prospect in the majors in the first move! -

QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) I like it. No reason to compete right now. 1) Not close 2) AL is stacked 3) Cubs are loaded & Champs Take some lumps until the balance shifts towards the NL in a few years and we can reasonably compete in the AL. Imagine yourself 9 months ago during the Drake LaRoache saga. You got all these guys for just Sale & Eaton. Wow. More importantly, the fanbase has HOPE. At least SOMETHING positive, SOMETHING to look forward to. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:34 PM) This is going to be a miserable few years. And now I don't even see a light at the end of the tunnel. Apparently we didn't learn the lesson that you need get who can hit and catch the ball. This is fair, but loading up on arms means you have tradeable assets to get proven, MLB ready bats when the roster is ready to compete for real. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) One position player in, and Eaton out. I don't see the net gain here. So the alternative, Kenny, is to continue to try to plug guys in and hope for lightning in a bottle (and fail) and continue to win 78-82 games, miss the playoffs and not get a good draft pick out of it? Oh, and still have no one show up in the park come July/August? No thanks. -
McBuckets needs to get back ASAP. 2nd unit needs his scoring ability.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 4, 2016 -> 09:05 AM) Gotta give credit where it's due. Illinois with 2 very good wins against NC State and VCU. If they can finish the non-conference schedule out 10-3, I'd feel good about BT play. And they're stinking it up against IUPUI. #Groced Frankly I'm amazed he was able to get Tilmon to sign. He's been terrible at developing big guys. Mav and Thorne are truly awful. Softest bigs in the entire conference. -
I get the Carrier deal is less than ideal, and Trump is obviously playing the game and getting rewarded for doing it (something I would actually give his team/campaign credit for...I honestly didn't think they had the skills to do something like that). Howeva, I have to say, the response is kind of funny. That tax break move to keep jobs home isn't anything new. Illinois has done it for decades. Caterpillar a few times, Exelon just recently. And while it's not some great fix and i'm not really a fan of it personally, the cost is negligible. I read it was like $870 per job "saved." That pays for itself in income taxes in one year alone.

Whelp, nm on that idea about Ford.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) I don't know if Rondo makes it the full year. Oh man, he was so freaking bad against Dallas. Like awful. Guy is a turnover machine. Don't know what is going on but terrible. Our bench sucks too by the way. Until I see some of our younger players develop under Hoiberg, I will continue to think Fred is a nice guy, but a lousy head coach. Really miss Doug and MCW, but Niko is a wreck, and Portis has done nothing but go backwards. He played so well against the Cavs too. I'm turning a bit on Hoiberg. This team is clicking offensively despite being one of the worst 3pt teams in the league and despite having an awful, awful bench. I give him some credit for that. They need to trade Niko while he still has some value. Hopefully he can go on a 2 week run to show his potential then get rid of him.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:49 AM) Westworld was fine but man the security trying to shoot the robots in the westworld headquarters was james bond henchman level bad. "Let me continue running up to you even though I see you have a gun pointed at me and never shoot" *gets shot* "Okay well he was shot but i can get closer to shoot ...." *gets shot* "Well they were shot because they weren't close enough" *gets shot*

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Yea, but as stated earlier, once you open the floodgates on one bad call, then you start getting other "well if this call went the other way then we would have scored a TD and won the game...." type complaints in the name of good sportsmanship. Playing entire games under protest because of a bad call then going to court. This is such a limited ruling though. It wasn't mid-game. Fenwick won the game. It was over. Then the refs gifted the other team additional time that they used to tie it up and eventually win. There's no judgment call here. -

I don't see why. Good sportsmanship mandates they step down. Everyone agrees they should not have been given the opportunity to tie the game and win in OT. This is the problem with our sports culture, especially at schools. We preach good sportsmanship and being a better person and doing the right thing over winning, and then when we have the opportunity to actually do that it's NEVER done. I don't think a Judge should have made this call, but it's ludicrous the IHSA or any sports organization doesn't have a clause in the rule book that in CLEAR cases of a screw up that decides games there can be a change made after the fact. -

What should happen here is that the other school should step down and let Fenwick play. But of course that won't happen because that would be the right thing to do.
